Where did you see this? I can't find anything on Instagram from KTM or Tony
Business is business, as KTM made clear with Dunge and Cairoli and Russell these past years 😂
Good to see him doing his thing and hopefully he has some fun with this new Ducati outfit. I know they're German-ish now, but they're still Italian really aren't they, that's gotta be cool for him.
Hope it's not that same scenario again. I want to see complete bikes even if they are really early development pieces.

And Webb..
Ducati are taking a very different approach to their launch.
They have a complete 450F that's being ridden in Italy, but they have not even announced their intent to join motocross yet.
'Officially' there is absolutely no proof of Ducati entering motocross. They definitely are – you can trust us – so do not worry.
My point is that I think that they will show the bike in their very first announcement.
Awesome to hear! Ducati has absolutely nothing in common with KTM so this will genuinely be an all new bike vs the husky, gasgas, triumph situations.
A dirtbike utilizing technology from Audi should be insane. When do we get to see it?
Ducati is rumored to be more expensive than any other bike on the market, so I expect something quite special.
Triumph is a completely new bike though – they wanted to make that extremely clear when they spoke in this.
I doubt Tony needs the money, after his years being so successful in MXGP for KTM. He is wealthy, has a beautiful wife & a family. I think a move to Ducati would allow him to work for an Italian company, and have the possibility of being closer to his home...which I think is in Rome. There are probably way more pros to this shift than there are cons. Good luck to AC!
With Triumph we will have 8 brands with similar specs and technology all priced within a couple thousand dollars of each other. I really hope Ducati brings something new and exotic price be damned.
I hope so too. Although I hope it's not so "exotic" that we end up with something like the Aprilia, which was just a disaster.
Or BMW....
I'm still waiting for a "better" 70° engine like the Husabergs had. But it will stay a dream I guess.
It sure as hell won't be like this, but, a variation of such a thing could be wonderful - Gentlemen, The Ducati Supermono Engine :
I'm with you on your 70* 'Sloper Motor'. I'd love to see Ducati / someone do something really different. And the 'Slopers' were quite a good bike / concept. A 'next generation', would have been even better.
Some may recall just how much of the engine parts were shared with the KTM of that time (not to mention wheels, brakes, Forks, EFI basis ). Well, my tiny Bear Brain, is telling me the 70s had EFI before the KTMs.
If they just would have applied the changes made to the 450, with the next generation (Dungey era for those that need an idea of the changes) base parts and ideas, they would have shed a lot of pounds / kilos from the engine, and I'm sure they could have done other changes to the Chassis etc.
But no, KTM saw the money to be made from their "Husaberg" 2 strokes. They were, effectively, the year before 2T KTM chassis / bike, with different plastics. And, really well valved pressurized bladder CC forks - I used their shim specs from the 'Bergs as a starting point, plus my making it a True Closed Chamber cartirdge, when I put WP CCs on my CRE - that were far better set up than the CCs on the KTMs at the time.
So, I really believe that was the start of the whole White and Red KTMs - they saw that relatively simple, cheap changes to 'make' 2 different brands, was a Fantastic business model.
So many brands now trying... Beta, Sherco, Trumph, Ducati, Fantic, TM... Some will end up going away. All going to push ICE engines and E-bikes are just around corner.
I used to work at a Honda dealership in the mid 90s and had a roadrace friend who switched from Honda to Ducati. Less than a year later he was back on Honda, he loved the Ducati but he said the price of replacement parts was so high he couldn't afford to keep campaigning it. Now of course this was a local guy and I don't have any idea of his budget, but that's something that has always stuck in my mind when I think of Ducati.
Ducati deciding that as KTM came to MotoGP to play in their sandbox, they will come in and take a dump in KTM's .
Audi money, is big money.
TM is one of the oldest brands in MX lol they aren’t “now trying”
Pit Row
It's amusing to read the first leak last month, all the back and forth comments, some too nasty.
Ducati's price point (in the US) will be within 10% of any other European brands. They changed there price structuring about 15 years ago to stay more competitive in the market. At that same time they made huge strides in their parts availability. I have no issues getting parts (oem or aftermarket) for any of my bikes.
Yes, they will be more expensive than most other bikes for the average rider. But, you will also be getting better components straight from the showroom. So, you will spend less in upgrades.
Ducati will throw wads of money at any factory racing effort. They WILL be competitive in any series they enter... or they will not enter that series.
Are we guaranteed the electrical issues that they acknowledge but do nothing to fix?
just playin'!
?
Had a buddy with an 09 Audi A3. Had electrical problems with it when it got hot. Turns out it was an issue Audi knew about but only handled the issue if it was the TT and one other model, but didn’t cover the A3 and another model. Was going to cost him $4k for a new dash and for the dealer to program it.
I have thoughts that Beta, Ducati and Triumph are all going to be in trouble regarding how many mx bikes they are going to sell. Not one of my moto buddies are excited about any of these new releases. The new bike talk is centered around the Stark and how versatile it is and how they've seemed to really hit the target on chassis and suspension as well as all the power you'll ever need. Ducati makes cool, trick bikes for sure, but I think as moto guys we like the newest technology, and that's electric. Next weekend Canard is racing the Honda electric bike and that's going to get that ball rolling over there and HRC will be showing it off.
Not excited at all about an electric Moto bike
.
Ah Lewis, some complain that Mona Lisa's nose is crooked, that Dali's sense of proportion was unrelatable, Monet too vague .. the Aprilia surely wasn't the most effective MX bike ever to grace the dirt, but to label such a noble thing of beauty a disaster ?
Cannondale, TM 400, CR 480 .. those were disasters, the Aprillia's should've been awarded victories on aesthetics alone.
Yep that is happening now just everyone at pits talking about Stark and similar bikes. These new or small brands will have trouble just selling handfull of bikes and dealers cant take any parts in stock because it just doenst make sense. Beta and Sherco has their Enduro bikes out there but there are just 1 bike at race and 300 KTM or other big brand bikes and same will go to Trumph and Ducati when they come out.
Idk man that thing is pretty fucking ugly
One sided swingarm and Desmosedici valves, true to their style?
The Aprilia wasn't a motocross bike.
But it sure was a fun bike.
And the graphics weren't the only things that were "bold" and "new".
