Not embarrassed at all.  Proud we sent a team to be part of it even if our chances were slim for a top result, which is how most of the rest of the world participates.   The team members deserve respect more than just for showing up when "better" riders would or could not; they repped the country knowing it would be a tough row to hoe, and plenty of kooks would be ready to shoot them down.  Much, much respect.

Always extra fun when my team wins, but what a great event it was with some top motocross racing.

Agreed.

BTW, seeing the MXdN over in Europe should be on every moto head's bucket list. It's frigging awesome.

I’m glad we sent a team!  However,  our/their most important series starts in a couple months. I would bet they weren’t putting it all on the line and even if they did a podium was a stretch. 8th is an acceptable outcome given it looked like we weren’t going to send a team at all. Flame away!

Sounds like those colours do run...

Not really. With this team I had us at best 4th. I am a realist

Look, I wanted them, us,
USA 🇺🇸 to do well too, but I’m honestly NOT Surprised by this.
The Embarrassing part I disagree with.
On paper, We knew what we had.
Anything beyond that would’ve been a plus.
All We can say is
Good Try & Props to All.
(I don’t take this PERSONALLY as that’s RIDICULOUS.)

I said from the beginning a top 5 would be like a win. Everyone was bitching that we may not send a team, we sent the best team we possibly could. RJ did exactly what I expected being super fast, on the ground almost every time on the track but giving it his all. First moto for AP was better than I expected. Craig coming back from injury and not racing since SX finished about where I expected. We weren’t going to top 3 without a lot of luck on our end and a ton of bad luck for other countries. Our guys represented us and did what they could. Respect to all 3 of them.

Sadly though as long as the races are overseas, I don’t see our best 3 guys going. Only way our 3 best riders go is if it’s on home soil and we just need to accept that.

what is the reason to not sending the 3 best American riders over seas and why doesn't it affect the Lawrence brothers or Roczen?

For those saying that USA should get money to go, this just goes to show that request is out the door!

Representing your country to the best of your ability is never embarrassing

I couldn't have said it any better.

They should have this race just like the Olympics every four years,  have more meaning.

Had no interest for the first time in many years……..

It’s been covered over and over….but I’m sure you already knew that…two US teams wouldn’t let their riders go and one rider switched teams the week before…Regardless I am proud of the riders that went and they needed a little luck to be top 5 and it didn’t happen…it didn’t affect your hero’s or KR because they don’t ride for Star or Kawi….

Every team should get money to go.  It's a commercial race and the promoter should not expect the talent to grease its bottom line if the promoter runs it for profit.

American Kawasaki and Yamaha should be ashamed of themselves.

Yes agree with this, believe Lungo (sp?) should do this race as non-profit and all proceeds go to the teams and the track that host it doesn't pay a fee.  We can dream....

But my comment was more along the lines that many say USA should get paid to go as they make the event.  The results the last couple years (besides last year) prove that is no longer true and USA is just another team that can be in the mix if things go right but isn't the team that all spectators and other countries want/need to see

Because they won't let their riders, bikes, and mechanics schrutinized by another team's manager?

Not a matter of not sending, it’s a matter of their teams don’t want to go. Just how it is going to be. If it’s on home soil, I have no doubt those teams will be all for it, but across the pond they will refuse.

AP, Craig, and Hampshire stood up when no one else would, and deserve respect for that, but our team was lapped.  5-18, 16-20 and 16-10 scores were not what was I think most expected.  Dean Ferris,  who retired, beat AP who is a factory racer.  He also beat Craig, who granted hasn't raced in a year but still clearly something is amiss with Team USA's efforts at the MXdN.

To just set the record straight - Dean Ferris announced his retirement but was back for Rd1 so never actually missed a race.

With all the expectation our nation was putting on the team I knew it was gonna be a shit weekend. Instead of “we should be a top 7 team” how about just go and ride like it’s a home race and see where we are at.

Wonder if Deegan or Sexton had any regrets sat on the couch watching the race.

Just have to start living with the fact that the usa is no longer the leader in the world at most things. Probably 20-50th in education, 50th plus in life expectancy and worse in quality of life. Our schools are a real mess, and even when you walk on the streets in the usa you can immediately notice how filthy it is compared to europe. Truth be told america has a lot of soul searching to do and the disappointment at mxon is just ripple effects of a sad and decayed culture

Feel free to move to Europe. I hear Sweden is beautiful

Disagree completely. For a start, they went. It's more embarrassing the other riders didn't.

Craig coming off the couch and RJ racing with a Hernia are more difficult situations to deal with than I am changing teams and I don't want to lose a week of testing or I don't want to go unless we have a great shot to win etc. They stepped up and so did the Austrian manufacturers.

They rode fine, just shit happens in racing. They should have been or at least had a great shot at a top 5... just like we should have been within 10 points of France, but when you get taken down, tip over, or bad starts on a tight as shit hilly track it's pretty fuckin hard to move up.

IMO, no country is going to dominate this event anymore unless they truly have multiple top tier picks in each class. Accounting for injuries, testing, team changes and sandy vaginas is too hard.

It is nothing like the Olympics. The Olympics is a multi-sport 2 week tournament with many more countries competing.

The MXdN is the best race in the sport and quite possibly the hardest to win. Not dominating it doesn't mean it doesn't have meaning, if anything it means more so.

First off.  Thanks RJ, Christian, and AP!!   They put it out there against the best in the world.  Thank you!  As for other riders….I think Chase would always step up but jumping on a totally new, and as different as possible, bike would be unsafe because he would try to run that pace he knows he can.  If I feel totally different going from aluminum frame to steel just cruising the track I can’t imagine the speeds they run on a rough track with big ruts, big bumps, and big jumps.  Sad thing is I think that track would have been great for Chase.   I do think if Deegan had wanted to go then Star would have made it happen….but he/dad probably didn’t feel it was a good risk reward thing.  More disappointed in him.   …and frankly….I think he would have got smoked on that track in that environment….   Kawasaki…whatever…..

This seems like such a kick ass event that if you still love riding a dirt bike then you would want to go.  Those three do and did.  Thanks!

You realize these riders visit Vital right? This post is tasteless. Imagine flying back from France and seeing this shit.

Our boys rode their butts off against the best in the world when we almost didn't have a team at all. AP pulled a top 5 today, what'd you do?
