So I'm assuming Star put their budget together last fall after SMX was announced, and after they knew they would be traveling to these races, Cooper scheduled his wedding around the MXoN (only for it to move to a more convenient for all but him date), already planning around it back then. Now after the rumors of Haiden saying no, they suddenly don't have the budget? And Ferrandis wasnt already aware he wouldnt have support if chosen for France? Not saying it's impossible, but it sounds like an excuse. Webb was a longshot pick anyway, and no other riders on the team would likely go.

This is what some of you believe.

Deegan wants to go and has expressed that to the team. His family is more than capable of cutting the check themselves and could probably make it profitable for themselves but went and asked star for permission instead of saying hey yo we're going and you're helping. Star however told the future of their team and their biggest cash cow no you're not going because reasons. The Deegan family who has never avoided a microphone, camera, or controversy have responded by being good company men and saying aww shucks I guess the team doesn't want to go and we support their decision, but trust us we really wanted to go!!!!!

That's what some of you seem to believe and that's just not believable.

His family is more than capable of cutting the check? That is none of anyone's business or yours. A lot of us could pay for the team to go. It is just not worthwhile for most. At this point it is all for a big stroke to 80 yr old DeCoster's ego. He has a huge say in the riders, teams, strategy, setups. Let him pay for it, he can afford to cut the check more than the Deegans, he has been sucking at the mx corporate teat longer than anyone. Who has had more say in USA's participation in the MX of Nations in it's history than "the Man", yet we all bitch about the results, dumbasses.

I might be a minority here, but I don’t get the RJ hype, the dude has been around a long time and hasn’t really proved much other than being on the ground.

I'm over it...mostlyBlush

The only riders that have a VALID reason for not going are the injured.

EVERYONE else just has lame ass excuses.

Every American team/rider knows this is an annual event.  It wasn't "sprung" on anyone.  (Changing the event date did screw one potential rider).

Anyway...we now know what type of people we're dealing with.  Not hating...just disappointed. I've been disappointed before and will again.  I will add...this sort of thing corrodes my trust and faith though.

Does anyone think that athletes who attend the Olympics to represent their country pay their own way?
Of course they do not, so why are some people asking the riders to pay with their own credit card to represent their country?

InFront should be paying team USA start money to attend, because that is who every spectator and fan wants to see- Europe versus USA .

That is apparent because of all of the European members here complaining that team USA might not show up.

if team USA doesn’t end up going, then it’s just another round of MXGP with a couple of talented Aussies added.

Luongo should be on the phone right now with the AMA offering to pay expenses, he knows as well as anybody else that  team USA is the big draw for this race.

A lot of Aussie Olympians have and still have to pay their way.

So frustrating...  It is my favorite race of the year by far.  My wife and I were going to Ernee, we had a VRBO, flights and were all in.  The only thing I hadn't bought was tickets to the race.  I had a work conflict come up that I couldn't get around.  And now, I'm actually glad that happened.

I know he's young, but he's on the team that wants to go, ask JuJu...

I've always been a fan of RJ, and even more so with what is going on today...  AP - RJ - JuJu, let's do this.

You don't need to send 40+ members.

We ship our own bikes, parts, etc.

We're not exactly roughing it either. Google the place our riders will be staying at. Private chef for all the meals. Practice track rented so they can get some riding in.

Mechanics are going. Managers are going.

You don't need the goggle guy, the gear guy, the manfriends, the moto bros that hang around, etc.

Different time, but I believe we went to Latvia for 50k.

Our guys don't bitch about it and they were happy to represent our country. Guess what, they're happy to resent Canada again this year.

Our team manager is doing an excellent job, and I'm glad she's back again after stepping away.

Team Canada has been fundraising all year. The US could easily do the same. Sell t-shirts, sweaters, hats, stickers, water bottles, coffee mugs, etc. You guys would sell a shit load of them.

We might not be flying first class, but we do the best we can with the budget we have, and most importantly, we show up.

And it's not like you're just sending 3 bikes. Looks like there's even 2 bikes for a reserve rider.

It's cheaper for the KTM US group, they just ship suspension, the KTM factory in Europe supplies the bikes, no air freight or carnets for the bikes in Europe, just cost of road transport.

So Did I miss in the 13,648 posts why Barcia is not going?  As for JuJu…c’mon.   Send Ty Masterpool and grab a stock KX450 (preferably an SR). He put’s his forks and shock in a gun case and checks them.  Then RJ rides a 250.  Ty would ride his ass off.  Boom.  I’ll bet Colt would step up and not have to ship a whole bike over either.  Heck..Swoll on a 250 even.  This is all going off blue bikes not going …..and PC and factory green not going…..and Austrian brands supporting…again…you can bring your own suspension in a check on gun case.

also…Kenny has his citizenship…right?  He would be an f’n hero if he went!!!  Think of the US fan base reaction!!

And yes, Barcia has been mentioned, and he needs minor "medical attention" of some sort.

AMA industry is just hypocrite, to much effort to much costs for the  risk of getting ass kicked. When it’s at  Redbud they don’t think it’s a loss when it’s packed with fans on home soil. This just shows how bad this industry  is..

AMA lost al his credibility to have the so called best riders of the planet for a no show ..

Is there a way we can convince Justin Copper to get married in France? In the paddock maybe? Walking the bride down the start straight?

It's not Justin that needs to be convinced, it's his bride, she would have put considerable effort into planning the wedding, maybe a honeymoon in France instead?

No matter who goes, this event costs a lot of money to attend.

I was told that to fly bikes (6 to 8 motorcycles) and riders and mechanics and tools and support people, and house and feed them can be approaching 180 to 200K for one fly away event.  You also have to travel one week ahead of time to get over the jet lag and test with local race fuel too.

Plus more than likely this will be a muddy race, so extra parts and wheels and tires need to be considered.

If the USA had a strong team it may be worth it, but the fact is so many of the best guys are switching teams and doing other stuff that sending a team of less capable guys may not be worth the money to the guys who cut the checks to pay for it.

How the hell is Canada managing to do it with 50k USD then?? Someone is getting scammed.

The AMA has production rule, my buddy CRF450R has the same frame as Chase Sexton 450R, why ship Chase Sexton full bike? Ship the Engine and suspension and then rent a 450R frame in Europe to lower the airfare, Tyres? Dunlop sells in Europe, buy a bunch of MX32 and they will make you a good offer, Plastics? Cycra sells in Europe, buy them here, the price is the same (Barring currency), Graphics, handlebars? The same. By shipping less things=less cargo=less airfare.

Or ask Giacomo Gariboldi (HRC MXGP team owner/manager) if he has any of Tim Gajser's or Ruben Fernandez's CRF450Rs gathering dust in storage waiting to be ridden again, he's also Honda NILS WSX team owner, he has Kevin Moranz and Jordi Tixer WSX bikes ready to be ridden, but it seems those bikes won't have much hours by the end of the year.

If Deegan wants to go, ask Yamaha MX2 Factory team the same, Plessinger? If Roger wants to reduce cost, he should ask Tony Cairoli if Aaron can ride Herlings SX450F because Herlings will not race MXoN.

There has to be a way to reduce cost. There's no way it cost 200k to send a team overseas, if that were the case, the Spanish federation wouldn't have been able to send a team Last year to RedBud

The USA team doesn't travel on a shoestring budget.  Sure other countries teams travel cheaper, good for them.

For Team USA You have support staff, mechanics and managers to consider. Riders are not flying coach - the cost of a business class round trip ticket is 8 to 9 grand for one rider. for three riders that is 25 grand right there.

They also don't rent or borrow bikes, and they bring spare everything.  The mechanics and support people who do this  don't work for free.

But whatever the cost it isn't cheap to move a team and their gear halfway across the world, and feed and house them for for 8 to 14 days.

So you're saying team USA are a bunch of primadonnas who won't represent their country overseas unless they're pampered all the way there and back, and riders who travelled to the US with their bikes in hand luggage or rode borrowed bikes because they were desperate to represent their countries are idiots? Wow..

And any future chest-beating posts about foreign riders going to the US series "because of the big money" should be shit-canned instantly from now on..

We should send the fastest 3 riders we have who are willing and able to go, whoever they may be, even if it gets all the way down to 3 of us here on Vital.  Whoever they may be, I'll root for them.

Exactly this. The same thing happened before the Matterley MXDN and team US sent riders who wouldn't have been first choice, after the usual round of excuses from the "stars". They got huge support from the fans for showing pride in their selection and respect for the race.

I would.  I'm currently injured (off the bike injury), and shouldnt even mountain bike at this point, but if chosen, I would rise to the occasion and give 100,000% from start to finish every moto, and race to win.

That being the truth, I believe there are far faster riders than me here on Vital.

Weeks ago multiple sources said Deegan didn’t want to go if Sexton was out, I.e. wouldn’t go unless they had their best shot at winning. Nobody denied or defended that.

Now, much further down the track, Star says they’re out as a team.
And the reason poor Deegs can’t go is because Star won’t support it?!

Umm okay, if that’s what it takes to make you feel better about that 😂

Is you honestly believe deegan wouldn’t be there if he wanted to be your a complete retard don , they would make enough in vlogs alone to fund  it , he couldn’t give a shit about the flag he’s been waving all Summer ,also  teams have been covering riders for years let alone star Yamaha and they’re  cash cow , wake up and stop making a fool of yourself

We do not deserve to host the MXDN in 2025. It's pretty sad that we can't send a team as defending champions.

Right now, the US sure don't shine under the best light on this...

If there's no US team, everybody will miss it. If there's no US team, everyone responsible (and I think they are quite a few) should be ashamed of themselves. It's not exactly like USA is a struggling, broke third world country whose absence is meaningless on the MX scene...

We French loooove to bash our federation, often because of bold selection choices, but not only. Yet the FFM spends lots of time, money and energy on the MXDN, just out of national pride. Is national pride gone on the US MX scene?

And I know in war times, a lot of Americans think of the French as pussies. As far as MX goes, have the Americans become scared of losing?

C'mon guys, get here and fight!

Kudos to Plessinger and Hampshire.

By all accounts he's willing to go and ride for his country. That's good enough for me.
