We bailed out on PacWest Round 7 at Gray's Harbor this weekend. They are calling for 102 today, 108 tomorrow at the track. Locally they are calling for 104 today, and 112 (!!!) tomorrow into Monday, and some tracks have cancelled planned practices/events.

Living in NorCal for years we got used to 90+ and even 100+ practice and race days, but that was some time back and I'm not willing to risk it now, nor allow my boy to ride when it's this hot. I still remember Josh Lichtle dying from heat stroke after the 2011 Red Bud 450 moto 1. His death changed how we looked at racing in high temps.

What's your limit?

Glen Helen 110. More of an individual test then a race against others.

I got heat stroke in 1980. Took me years to get used to the heat again. I still don't like it.

probably high 90's. The heat never bothered me while on the track especially when I was in shape. It was when the moto ended that it sank in.

It was about 106 deg. & guys were dropping like flies that day. I still remember it well since I was conditioned for the heat while most appeared to not be. Granted that was about 10 yrs. back.

As a kid, dad would have us doing Motos at our desert track when it was 118-120ish

That was normal for us then, but now, you couldn’t pay me to subject myself to that

113* Mojave desert. First and, only time I ever had a nosebleed from the dry desert heat.

Used to live in the desert in a small town as a kid nothing under 105 in the summer, didn't know any better so it never bothered me.

I raced Glen Helen a few summers ago at about 110. It’s not so bad if you’re moving or there is a breeze. ..but once you stop and the wind stops flowing through your helmet and vented jersey, holy moly!...lots of wet towels draped over you standing in front of a fan is the key.

We live in Nor-Cal. We’ll ride if it’s 100 or so but we’re looking at 113 today and tomorrow. It’s a rest weekend! If you’re up before the sun comes up and it’s 85 already you know it’s going to be a tough day... There really is a noticeable difference between 100 and 113.

I've ridden in 106/107 back home in Michigan a handful of times. I remember going to Baja MX to break in a new 450 in 2012 and I was dripping with sweat before I even got the bike out of the truck. The humidity combined with that is wayy worse than the 100+ I've ridden in out at Glen Helen or any riding so far in Oregon. I wanted so badly to ride this weekend since I haven't gotten seat time in over a year but nobody wants to ride!

2000 loretta's my first and third motos were in the heat of the day and I believe it was around 103.. ironically, I got a 2nd and 5th in those motos.. I was training in sweatshirts doing 40s here in Ohio before that race.

Around 100. Last time was at Washougal in 2014 and it was humid as balls. Luckily I crashed and separated my AC joint and broke a toe on the first lap of the first moto so I got out of it.

103 at a Helvetia in 1977, as mentioned before riding at that temp is brutal but when you stop and no air flow, that's when it gets scary hot. But the cool thing about that track was it had a pool, was usually filthy but it was a way to cool down.
We used to fill a old fire X and spray our buddies once a lap to try and cool them down, just don't hit the goggles, because in that kind of heat their is dust and wet goggles and dust is a lousy combination.

3 heat strokes in my life, remember the years like they were yesterday 88, 99 and 2009. Raced in temp around 97 with 90 percent humidity. Whole body cramped up, hospital trip. Really don’t like to ride in temps over 85 degrees now.

I grew up in Palm Springs so it was nothing for us to ride daily year round out n the desert. The temp was never a concern for any of us kids back then. We didn’t make it a point to go early it late, we just went out when we could round up a buddy or even go by ourselves. Summer heat was on average 110-115 with the occasional 120+. My age back then was between 12-22. There was no humidity back then so I’m sure that made it more tolerable.

Now that I’m 61 I can’t take the heat at all. Thank god I live on the coast. You wouldn’t catch me riding in anything over 85-90. 60’s to low 70’s is perfect for me

105 with a feel like 112, 3 brutal 15 minute Moto’s and if I remember correctly, I lost around 7 pounds that day and muscle cramps for two days.

115 multiple times at Glen Helen on Thursdays for 2 summers straight. If you’ve ever ridden GH on a Thursday during Summer/Nationals, you can handle anything

Edit: I don’t exactly recommend it
