Looks like a video is out showing what happened at the finish. He did cross the finish, just after being down 2 laps and apparently the rumors of him ghost riding over the top were true.

my god the amount of absolute hack job people in this thread is baffling. Follow the instructions and cut the bar, if you can ride a dirt bike you can cut 1/2" off a handle bar. If you cant, you should sell the bike.

Gas. I think most folks overthink it. Why do you need to wash with Soap and Water after using gas? To introduce more chemicals and expense? For 30+ years I've been washing them with gas, let them completely dry (gas evaporates) then oil them with FFT thoroughly. I've never sucked dirt in my entire life and I've ridden a TON of silt over the years being West Coast based. YMMV

I don't want to throw the crank builder under the bus without knowing for sure it was something done wrong. He's very well known in the KTM engine building world and I have only split the cases on like 5 engines so the chances on it being something I did over something he did is more likely lol I just can't see what I could of done to cause it other than changing the oil more frequently. Did some hill racing at the dunes but it never saw the rev limiter.
