Hello,
Im looking for at new Bike after I sold my yz450f 2023 last year because I was training for an Ironman.
I have been riding 450f the last 12 years but now I was thinking if it could be fun to ride a 250F. I was very happy about my yz450f.
I just dont know if in to heavy for a 250f. My weight is about 82 kg. I know its fine for hardpack but I live in Europe with a lot of sandtracks where I live. I tryed my brothers kx250f for some years ago on a track with deep sand as lommel ( Beach sand ) and it felt like the Bike was standing still - i couldnt jump the Bike jump that I normally did on my 450f. But maybe its just because I was not used to the power of a 250F.
Is 82 kg to heavy on sand track?
I like 250f but they can be harder to ride than 450s on sand.
Whats your weight ?
And is it US sandtracks or European ? 😊
86kg. US bottomless sand.
Be nice if they made something in between a 250 and 450.

Im 195 250/450B, vet B and race 250f's all the time. 95% of the time i don't feel like I'm missing anything. Once in awhile while making a pass it would be nice to have the 450 to take an inside line that you really shouldnt on a 250 cause the 450 in front of you is going outside. Only other time is deep deep sand like you said you feel like your going nowhere but gonna blow the motor up. But the rest of the time no problem. Just be ready to work a little harder to go fast.
I think you would miss the brute thrust. 250F's have come a long way and are fun to ride.
The fun factor of a 250f is tough to beat.
If you want something that feels lighter and still has more power then look at a 350.
You'll ride it like a 250 but with out the drawbacks
