In all honesty, convince me that JGR is worth more than $300K per year. Can you? What do they bring to the table for Suzuki that they aren't already getting out of the HEP team & the numerous privateer riders in both classes?
Cuz from my perspective, JGR hasn't had the results the last several years to be in any sort of position to leverage for a bigger contract from Suzuki. Martin has been the standout....maybe the Suzuki offer would have been bigger with a 250 championship, but the JGR team is infamous for all of the shoulda-coulda-woulda seasons with all of the talent they have had.
The 2021 SX schedule looks sketchy (at best) due to COVID, TV market/exposure is already going to be reduced compared to a normal year.
Suzuki didn't pull the rug from under JGR - they made them an offer commensurate with the economic/market conditions in addition to JGR's results from the last few years, JGR made the final call that they couldn't do the deal. Why can't JGR re-scale their operation to $300K? They could go racing for $300K if they focused on only supporting 1 rider/bike and a leaner support staff.

But id love to see Reed take on the full factory effort Suzuki team as a manager.
hes run a successful team before and stubborn enough to know what needs to be done.
knows how to set up a bike and has the connections.
Sad times to see JGR go.
Suzuki needs to get invest some money into the sport and get back to its full factory effort days.
.
If I had to guess, the US arm of Suzuki motorcycles is in money-saving mode right now. Perhaps we'll see a revitalized race effort from them in years to come. I hope so.
Which has been predicted here every winter for years...
Guess only the strong survive.
It sucked to see two major teams go under this year- yikes!
Pit Row
I'd prefer to remember all the guys they gave an opportunity to, either as full-time riders or as fill-ins when needed. Off the top of my head: Justin Brayton and Weston Peick had great seasons on JGR. Brayton went to KTM with BBMX and did worse. Both Josh Grant and Davi Millsaps had some of their best overall seasons on JGR, and I'm pretty sure JG didn't win on a 450 with any other team. Stewart didn't work out as planned, but he won 2 races for them and I think any of us here would admit that 2010-2014 era James was about as erratic as it could be. Barcia was also pretty erratic, but was he any better or worse than with Honda or factory Yamaha? Seems to me like Justin's biggest obstacle has always been his own ability to set up a bike.
This announcement sucks but it is not unexpected.....I thought this team was more likely not to be around in 2021 than the Geico team for example.
