Boring Racing

It’s a bunch of dirt bikes riding around in circles. It’s kind of boring unless you have a burning passion for the sport. This is why we will never be mainstream and will always be a niche.

The first race was not as challenging deliberately to give the riders an ease into first race back.
The second race was a much better layout. Despite the dirt still being the same there were more inside/outside lines and I thought the racing was much better. Mookie from crashing and coming up through the pack shows that it wasn't one lined. Some riders just continued to struggle more.
The 45 second best lap times were a little disappointing. Would be good to have the better layouts/longer lap times that some have suggested from previous rounds.

The way he slammed into that landing almost every time looked exhausting.

EVERY LAP. I was like, bro...either quad it or let up a little. For sure looked exhausting.

If I did it ONCE, it would probably ruin the rest of my day.

The way their suspension eats up those huge mistakes just blows me away.

Y'all have a short memory. That first SLC track was boring, but it's been great racing up to the break and last year's racing was as good as it has ever been. EVER.

Is it just me, or does the racing simply seem boring? Compared to the days of James, RC, and CR with technical tracks. Tracks these days seem one lined. Last night I watched more riders simply pull over on a pass and not fight. What happened to trying and fighting for your spot? Osborne, Barcia, Webb, these guys FIGHT for every inch. Kinda bums me out.
The 250s were boring, there was nothing boring about that 450 race, to me

Racing was great! Only thing missing was Mookie who went down first lap.

To me, boring racing is better than no racing. I am happy to have SX back.

Top three in the 450 main with a second of each other in the waning minutes of the main? Eli going for it and almost offing himself trying to get past Cooper. Zach looking legit. What's not to love about that?

Sextons ride was great but yeah the East is a little thinner but still good stuff

I've been watching moto for a long time and having the leader check out and disappear in not just a phenomenon in the 2000s. It was great seeing three guys together on the last few laps battling it out.

The racing is what you make of it. I enjoy it for what it is. I don't put expectations on it.

Would you would prefer no racing at all? They are racing under some very out of the ordinary circumstances. Let's cut them some slack.

We're slowly becoming NASCAR and it ain't good.
I Wish we would become more like nascar in bike power. As in equal. Right now its a race between 5-6 guys and another race between the rest. It would be some exciting and excellent racing in my options to see 22 guys on equal equipment.
And I know someone will say its not just power they are also better. And I agree but why give the better riders a faster bike?
Here is my solution. Make everyone Run a stock motor. Completely as it comes from the dealership floor. And let them do. Pipe Ecu, suspension etc just no internal motor work.
It would save money. And make the racing better so why not ?

Last night was awesome.... Was hoping Zach would hold on, but glad to see him do well being that he is coming back from significant injury.

Of all the things that have sucked in Salt Lake, Zach not hanging on for the win is the biggest.. No shame , he stayed out front way longer than anyone coming back from his injury should have.. glad the racing is back.

I thought he did it once and almost blew past the corner. I think he was using the single to slow down so he could make the turn.

Tomac over jumped into the face of that last roller....could have been ugly but thank god for factory suspension.

Seemed to slow his exit out of the next turn though and not triple out ...Webb had that triple out of that corner dialed every lap .. definitely slowed tomac up a bit and then he’d scramble to get it back for the next 1/2 a lap

Wednesday night was far better than Sunday, each round should improve. No complaints about two races a week that's for sure.

On a side note I feel like I should be holding a bible, sipping wine and choking down communion wafers during McElrath's podium speeches...

Did you not watch last year when Webb ran his teammate off the side of the track. Or previously when Musquin took Tomac out on the last lap. Or this year Barcia and Tomac banging bars.

Seriously quit your dumb bitching and enjoy the racing we are lucky enough to have back on tv, it’s been fantastic!!

Im having a hard time watching.. its just about slot car cross. im 48 and was practically born at the track. my dad raced, i raced. raced lorettas a few times. tried some sx and nationals in my late 20s. I think the camera angles are not helping much. you know theres ruts or wheels spinning but you cant see that.. when you watch some of swapmoto live videos on the floor it brings in more perspective.
It seems to only be exciting to watch the guy that is really on it that day..

Possibly, it just feels like the grit is no longer there. The tracks need to be slowed down and more technical. Also I agree with the post above. The 450’s these days are simply too much for SX. I’m a firm believer they should all run 250f’s and make the tiddler class more stock based and then have the factory effort. Although that will never happen with the manufacturers standing to loose so much in revenue.
I think the majority of the field are millionaires? Why take big risks when you don't have to. A near out of control blitz through the whoops to make a pass for the win or just for one position doesn't pay off the way it used to. Add the addition of heavy 450s that make you pay much more for mistakes and you get what we have now. Look what happened to Mookie last year. JS, RC and CR started on 2 strokes and carried that aggression forward to the 450's. I don't see it now except for Tomac a bit when he is feeling it.
I agree with the 250f/ 125 idea. The aggression and racing excitement would improve. jmho

How was that one for you partner? If round 13 wasn't exciting for ya i don't know what is.
