I always wanted one of those last gen IT200's.. throw a rear disk on that machine and it's more than capable against modern high tech bikes.

Kawasaki's only 1979 KDX model was the KDX400: a twin shock, 260lb, $1800 bike. Correct me if I'm wrong but the 1st KDX175 was an 1980 model. I traded in my '79 XR500 pig for a new one. Here I am in 1980 at the Michigan Jackpine Enduro on the 175. It was a great little bike.

I see it being a 300 off road bike. Yamaha is already working with Cody Webb. Yamaha may had been tipped off about Kawasaki building a new bike and hired Cody to help them develop one. I'm sure they have been working on it for at least a year or two. A moto bike, although cool, is not really the direction to go if you ask me. It would be a novelty bike for weekend racers. The 300 off road group is no joke. Plenty of customers out there. Also, they have moto bikes already, so why develop another one...

Talked to someone in the know at A2 tonight, I heard 2 new bikes, a big one and a small one. Based on questions I asked I was able to find out the big bike will be a 300+ cc 2 stroke mx bike. Sounds like it will compete with the new KTM 300 that everyone loves.

Got a stock 05 that I love riding. I’d love to ride one with the motor done. Fun factor I’m choosing this thing all day over the 4 strokes. Racing I’m choosing the 4.

1/25/2025 10:46am That’s quite an impressive statement! I am the 2nd owner of my ‘04 250 and my ‘03 125. They will never leave me. Something about riding a really fast “antique”. Honestly not too far removed from my ‘79 RM125. Hope Kawi. isn’t yanking our chain.

Haha that was right before the 2 stroke nationals in 2020. Believe it or not, that bike has HUNDREDS of hours! We’ve had it since brand new in 2004.

I own both two and four strokes, I have for years. As I know many people do. The four strokes are easier to ride and probably faster, but the two stroke is unquestionably funner. They both have their places. A four stroke seems "mechanical" that you "drive", a two stroke seems "organic" that you "ride". If that makes any sense.

Nothing wrong with fitting a two stroke engine in four stroke chassis. I did it to an RMZ and it handles way better than the steel frame I had a couple decades on
