Fully agree w Devin. These guys are gladiators trying to stay healthy and successful. MX and SX are meat grinder sports, just staying healthy at all is a major full time job. They ALWAYS risk life and limb for OUR entertainment and very little monetary benefit (top 5 guys maybe eek out a living when you consider their income has to be amortized over a 30-40 normal everyman career horizon), and should be afforded some concession for that. Feld, FIM, Youthstream do not do jack shit to benefit riders and their needs, they are churned through the system because there will always be another 16 year old hungry kid they can chew up and spit out. Stars in our sports are few and far between because their average life expectancy in the sport is something in the neighborhood of 3.6 years as a pro.
Give me a break. They are all chasing the dream of becoming wealthy by being successful at a sport. The same as any other paid job, there are rules that come with the pay check. If you don’t like the rules don’t accept the money.

And further - Broc still isn't a winner. Not hating - just stating. He can take every drug on the banned list - and he won't go one tenth faster.

Moto is the rare sport where it isn't something measureable in strength or pure fitness.

Shame for him - it's costly to appeal and not worth his time. Typical bureaucratic bullshit..he can call it a career in a sport where not nearly enough money is made for anyone involved for the investment, risk and longevity.
Motocross is not rare or special. People like to think it is, but it isn’t.

Bummed for Broc, 4 years is a joke, way to harsh. His career in the US, Europe and OZ is over, however Jetwerks just split with the CMA which had FIM affiliation. Jetwerks does not have a sanctioning body and are not under WADA, Hope to see ya at round 1 of Canadian nationals Broc.
I’m pretty sure WADA bans don’t work like that. They apply to all competition. He could potentially go and race a non-FIM affiliated series but my understanding is that if he did he’d still be violating his WADA ban.

Broc Tickle is one of the good guys of the sport. Always honest, has a calm demeanor and one of the true professionals of the sport. This failed drug test comes out without a final verdict and everyone is so quick to hate the guy. It's amazing how easily pursuad you guys are when it comes to these things, probably why I never got along with you guys on here, one person changes their mind over something and 5,000 people do, too. I'm not saying he's innocent because his wife is hot, and please don't use Lance Armstrong as an example of getting caught because it took them going all the way down to 16th or something in the Tour de France to find the first person NOT cheating. In motocross, in 2018, I truly believe that with the involvement of WADA that nobody is doping these days and everyone is racing fair and square. You are comparing other sports to racing when it's comparing bowling balls to apples. In my opinion, there is absolutely no way Broc Tickle knowingly took a substance he knew was illegal and "risked it" for a better ride. Want to know what Broc did to try and earn a better ride for next year? He joined Aldon Baker's program for this season. Broc is one of the most fit riders on the circuit and always takes training seriously, you seriously think he would risk his career over some tiny little nasal spray to make his breathing a little better? No chance. I'm not saying he didn't test dirty, clearly he did, but unlike you guys I don't wish the worst upon everyone else in my life and hope this was all a big misunderstanding and the ban is lifted. Unfortunately WADA deals with a lot of sports and will not care if Broc Tickle is "one of the good guys" because on paper he tested hot and that's all they care about. Tough pill to swallow for the sport, we need more guys like Tickle out there.

Oh please...that’s crap. They aren’t saints out there risking their lives for our benefit...they only care about us so much as their income is dependent on us buying their sponsors products so they can keep paying.

And they aren’t even “risking their lives”...saying so is a bit melodramitic in my opinion...yes what they do is dangerous...but when was the last time a pro died on a supercross track? if dudes were dying left and right then it could be said they are risking their lives...but even then they wouldn’t be doing it for “our entertainment”...they’d be doing it for fame and fortune and their own pride and ego (same reasons they all do it now).

These guys are talented on a bike, but humans...and I don’t know the truth about how this ended up in BT’s system...we probably never will. And I won’t vilify him, but I won’t put it past any of these guys to cheat. Big egos...millions of dollars...pressure...future income opportunities (rides)...it all adds up.

Have you ever ridden a Supercross track? Go jump some triples around 21 other dirt bikes at full speed and tell me it isn't life threatening. I've had friends die racing motocross, and there's no reason it can't happen on a Supercross track if it happens on a Motocross track. The point I was trying to make is that Broc Tickle has been racing in the 450 class for 7 years now, he's never been a championship contender, and I highly doubt he would risk his financial income over something so minimal as whatever methylhexaneamine is. You guys don't look at the risks and rewards of what Broc would gain by trying to sneak something like that into his program. Is he suddenly going to be a title contender taking methylhexaneamine? The answer is plain and simple, no. Would Aldon Baker's program increase his chances of possibly taking his first victory? I'd say yes. Did Aldon Baker make Broc Tickle take this? Absolutely not, it would question all of his credentials and make a lot of people question Carmichael, Stewart, Villopoto, and Dungey's success under his program. I also doubt Broc would purposely take this and 1) destroy everything he's worked for his entire life and 2) make Aldon Baker and his program look bad. As I said earlier, I'm not doubting the drug test, I'm doubting Broc purposely taking an illegal substance. Yes it's up to the riders to know what is illegal and what isn't, but factor in family time, training, and riding, you can't always know if a protein bar or pre-workout drink that you've been taking has something like methylhexaneamine in it. You never know, there's plenty of situations like this in other sports where the athlete took a supplement that was tainted unbenounced to the rider, only to get tested hot. They've tested off the shelf protein powders and found illegal substances in WADA.

Tldr: Given Tickle's track record and position in the sport, I truly believe he did not intentionally take something illegal (risking his career) over something with minimal results in the grand scheme of what it takes to become a top professional in supercross/motocross.

Hate all you want, you guys are so quick to draw conclusions and blacklist him from the sport when full details have not yet been revealed. All we know is he tested hot, that's all. That's my 2 cents, you have the right to disagree, but I'm trying to think rational, not look at it in black and white.

Proportionality of consequences across sports is the issue with the Code penalties; the Code recognizes that issue, but without a lot of concern for differences in sport (the proportionality seems more tied to culpability). It's one thing to say your bounced from the your results in this Olympics and disqualified from the one four years hence as a disincentive for that cheating in that realm, but that's not inherently apt to other sports. Maybe it would be good if individual sports that adopt the Code determine in advance a proportionate penalty and have that added as an appendix to the Code, but there's a lot of moving pieces there and every sport will resent any other that seems more "lenient," so probably not likely.

The CAS decision in Stew's case does not leave a lot of room for claiming inadvertence if you knew you were taking a product and didn't check its ingredients against the prohibited list.

I like reading all posts from the guys in here that have actually used these drugs and know the super powers they give you. Anytime you see someone tell you about the advantage these drugs give you, it’s becuase they personally have run a double blind scientific study.
Broc is a perfect example of the advantage it gives you. Look how fast he has been. It’s not fair for everyone else and I hope he has to give back all his winnings from this year.
Just ask anyone. He was gaining about 4 secs a lap from using ”cheater drugs”. I guarantee you if Jason Lawrence came back tonight and shot some coke he would win no question.
Bottom line is 4 years isn’t enough. I think they should amputate his arms.
Btw what is WADA Doug here anyway? Get out of here WADA, no one likes you! What’s that? Supercross invited them? Oh. Well maybe we should say fuck you supercross until they change the system to penalties that make sense. This isn’t water dancing at the olympics, this is a real sport.

I’m not hating on him at all. I’m not blacklisting him, or wishing I’ll will towards him...I’m just saying, it wouldnt surprise me if any of these guys were cheating.

And I said when was the last time a PRO died racing supercross...not your average weekend warrior or amateur racer. But that is beside the point...the point is that they aren’t doing what they do for us or our entertainment...they are doing it for themselves...so let’s not glorify them as selfless guys deserving of sainthood because they only care about the fans. Don’t be so naive!

So family time is excuse that he didnt know what he was taking lol. Ok. At that level you need to know. Quit making excuses for him , he is a grown man, and he accepts big paychecks. And that comes with guidelines and rules he needs to know.

Well, the promoters wanted the WADA in MX and SX, so this is what they get - a bloodthirsty, independent, pious, unaccountable “death penalty for parking violation” agency. The WADA is the isis of the outside watchdogs. The have all the power and no one can tell them anything. They lust for prosecution and live to display their power. Anyone caught in their web, regardless of how small the infraction, is a death penalty. James never recovered and Tickle is done. There is no “real” due process in this. The compaint, indictment, and sentencing are all thrown into one, as are the judge, jury, and prosecution. Plus, all are based outside of the US and already have a distaste and prejudice against anyone and/ or anything American. Don’t get me wrong, they love any chance they get to change the rules at the last minute to try and catch someone, regardless of country. Again, thank the promoters (mainly one promoter) for the WADA.

You have to wonder, does US MX/ SX really need FIM certification? What had that credibility done for SX and MX here in the states?

Then again, we have to remember that it’s the promoters’ show, so anyone who wants to participate has to play by their rules.

All I can say is that if you support draconian penalties like this for first time offenses, or don't at least question them, we'll never agree.

WADA has no jurisdiction over the NFL (something WADA cares not for). The NFL's drug testing regime and appeals process is the product of collective bargaining with the player's union.

Other than injuries during his career. Broc been so consistent for sponsors and teams. What a shit show Wada is. Look what it did to JS7 career. The fans were all shortchanged and we never see James again. The worst part to the fans especially those that don't know any better and just read headlines. They think the riders are cheating and really getting an advantage. SX and MX is a little too tough of a sport to think any substance is going to make all the difference if not be a hindrance. Be different if races were 2-3 hours long like off road. Or like cycling. Maybe this will get sorted out. One can hope anyways.
You got to see James again. He had all of 2015 to get ready but didn't, then showed up in 2016 all fat and out of shape and rode around getting in the way.

I prefer to forget that even happened and remember him circa Toronto 2014 as the end of his career.

I did not read all this crap but seriously can we get rid of wada? I don't think they are the right fit for our sport Also it's kind of a joke when guys ride factory bikes against privateers. That alone is "cheating" along with the 80 other advantages riders with more resources can have so let's not ruin people's life's over some bull shit supplement that no offense, , is obviously not giving him a edge

This, above!!! Broc took something anyone of us could buy at GNC, better yet Walmart. Its not like he was shooting Deca in his ass. I can't imagine trying to eat properly and maintain the fitness level these guys need, all while skirting the WADA's continually growing list of banned substances. Like mentioned above, wada is crazy from power. WADA reminds me of these Nazi hunter TV shows, they just don't quit. (not that nazi hunters should, don't take that wrong). Same bullsh$t happened to the Moss brothers over in Australia and they are done, done, done. Good job WADA.

Love it, "well if he was cheating", or "he knew the rules", shut the front door, genius's. Again he wasn't shooting "steroid"s. There are breakfast cereals these guys can't eat because of WADA, and it doesn't stop there. For shit sake they have THC as a performance enhancer and it's banned. Marijuana enhancing performance? In video games maybe. Get WADA out of our sports. We can give piss tests for steroids ourselves.

Not approving of Marijuana, not, not approving either. Just never has struck me as a "performance enhancer". I'd encourage my competition to get stoned regularly if I could.

ASADA nailed the Moss brothers, who were straight up on another form of steroids...not something minor. Sure, lets blame the testers, not the cheaters.

So, you're saying its hard to just eat normal clean food, but should be allowed to go out of his way to find stuff that has banned substances and eat that instead?

And you said There are breakfast cereals these guys can't eat because of WADA? NO shit? Should I worry about my Fruit Loops now? You should stick to MJ.

The rules, along with the massive list of banned substances have to go, and get totally reassessed starting from zero. Seriously, find the list. It’s staggering.

If I can buy it over the counter, it shouldn’t be banned. Period. The sport isn’t better with wada, and in truth I have no use for them as a whole.

Having ANY rider (whether you follow him/her or not) tested positive for banned substances is never fun hearing about

Wont work. You can buy 100s of AAS "over the counter". As well as 100s of other banned drugs.
As long as you buy it for your Saber toothed monkey fish frog, they can sell it, and you can buy it.

I can also buy any form of HGH, any form of IGF, MGF and hundreds of other items as well over the counter. All banned.

An unpopular opinion around here but one I agree with 100%.

I guess that is all on how you look at it. To me , it's the most amazing sport on the planet.
As a competitive pursuit it has its own unique qualities, but every sport can say that.

To say or imply as the other poster did that mx has some special quality that, unlike the thousands of other sporting pursuits on the planet, can’t be measured or defined and therefore renders its athletes immune to the effects of PEDs is complete BS.

The entire involvement of olympic type drug testing with penalties that don't remotely suit our sport are ridiculous.

Yes it is, because just about any physical sized human can be a no 1in a very physically demanding sport.. not many other sports in that bracket..
