Any of these would have contained 1,3 DMAA at a given time. It's really not a big deal at all. It will, however, have big consequences.

From what I have read it was banned for health reasons, not performance reasons. Don’t get me wrong, that’s a perfectly good reason to ban something. But why would anyone systemically take a drug that is harmful and doesn’t offer significant gains? Gains that could not be obtained by other means. If it does, fine, that explains why he would take it.
As I pasted before WADA banned it for performance enhancing reasons. Your line of questioning is quite meaningless, you'd have to ask Broc why he took it.

If he can convince WADA/FIM that it was an unintentional, one off incident, he could be free and clear with a warning according to the FIM Anti-Doping Code. But that might be pretty difficult.

Sounds like the 4 year ban could be reduced significantly if he can convince them that he wasn't intentionally cheating, also. Again, it'd be a tough stream to paddle up but it could be tried.

Broc was deserving of a thread of his own for working his way up to a probable top 5 finish this year, mostly by finishing and not being on his head. Conditioning has always been a big part of his game, not speed.

Damn this is a real shame.

With some experience learning about WADA, the code literally all comes down to this: the athlete is ultimately responsible for what enters their body, period. It doesn't matter where it comes from. The athlete ingested it, and as such is responsible. That's the way they see it. The ASADA (Aus doping) code strongly recommends athletes staying away from any kind of supplement, natural or otherwise, for reasons like what we've seen here.

Unfortunately, history will show that Broc has an uphill battle here. Wishing him all the best.

Every time this happens the press release is so vague that it leaves more questions then answers.

What if He ate or took something that He didn't know the stuff was in there ? it's not like they caught him with EPO, HGH or steroids

Because its your responsibility to know what you're taking or eating. No matter why or how. Wada makes that very clear.
Their site specifically has an article about DMAA on it, in all its various forms and names of the analogs etc.

I work out and take preworkouts and do not see these at the local nutrition shops. I’m assuming because of that substance which is now banned?

OxyElite, Hyde, Mesomorph, Jack3d, Dust, 1MR, etc, all very popular and widely sold at one point or another recently. Personally, I've used each one at some point or another bought from GNC, Complete Nutrition, Vitamin Shoppe, etc.
