When in a foreign country, I carry my passport with me always. About your only form of ID. How many illegals even have a passport ? In California, they will give anyone a drivers license legal or not. It's definitely not any proof of citizenship.
Immigration is so deeply intertwined with every other issue we face. Welfare, education, criminal/prison industrial complex, stagnant wages, inflation, healthcare, social security, politics/voting, every single domestic issue we have. Immigration both legal and non legal play a huge part.
The system is broken and we can not adequately address any single issue in any meaningful way without addressing all of them because they all lean on eachother.
But not a Real ID. Those aren't as simple to get. Are we sure that a Real ID validated Drivers License isn't a proof of citizenship?

Don't know why you got a downvote for that, it is factually correct. A Real ID would be more valuable in terms of citizenship as long as every option you're allowed to use for documents were also valid for citizenship, but the last item is "document reflecting TPS benefit eligibility", which is why is falls back to a secondary evidence. Sounds like even a printed letter would qualify, not actually having temporary protected status, but just a letter saying "yeah you're probably eligible".
If you are stopped by ICE and don't have proof of citizenship on your person, you may be detained and deported, without the opportunity to present your proof of citizenship if it is not on your person or for legal representation or a day in court, even if you are a natural born citizen.
This is open to abuse, if the government or an ICE officer doesn't like you, they just deport you.

If anyone has a good reason to carry their "Papers" on them it's those guys. The cops can ask you who you are here. It's not like some new rule just for them. They want to see my ID too, I don't want to hear anyone crying about having to carry ID. It's common sense especially now brainiacs.

INS had been around since 1933. ICE was basically name change and restructuring, not some new concept.
Is the ID you carry your birth certificate, or passport or certificate of citizenship?
If it's not, your ID is not proof of citizenship.
Not only that, if you don't have your ID but can provide a name, birthdate, social security number, etc they can easily verify your identity. This notion that people who are citizens that just forgot their ID at home and are being deported is total fantasy.

Constitutional scholar there, eh? The president of the US has the legal authority to federalize National Guard troops as needed. This does not require permission from the governor of that state. This is in part, due to the fact that National Guard members are paid out of the US treasury through DFAS, not state funds.
As for the Marines, the Posse Comitatus ACT prohibits US military forces from being used as law enforcement. There is no prohibition against using the military to secure federal property.
