Although as an Aussie I'm disappointed I can completely understand, not only the riders need a break but also the crew. American Honda HRC have supported the Australian MXON team for years and for that we are truly grateful. However, such an unbelievably long season in the US, year in and year out, means the crew don't get a break either. Australia can still produce good results with Beaton, Webster, Cannon (or Minear) and I am sure they would all give 150% effort.

For the guys baiting about MXdN attendance; Hunter has raced it every year since 2017, except one year when injured. Jett ran his first ever 450 race there. This is not a conversation about dodging 😂 What you may fail to understand is that no Aussie ever thought we’d see a time when Australia could win the event. And for that we’re eternally grateful to the Lawrences (and Webster). If they want a break, good luck to them! We’ll still cheer for our team whoever it is, and whether we have a chance, or not.

Yes and no. Any time a nations top riders turn down MXDN it is a disappointment. I could see Jett getting a pass with the talus, but regardless it still sucks for fans. The only difference is, the Lawrence brothers never took to the podium flying their countries flag, never said any stupid shit like “our country will be back on top”, and then didn’t show up to MXDN. It’s the same as showing up to round 1 with a shirt that says “R.I.P Jett” and then failing to place ahead of the guy. While the end result was phenomenal...

I'm gutted, not being in the US us Euro's love the rare opportunities to see these guys ride. The Jett vs Gasjer battle at Matterly was epic. But I do respect their decision, their calendar is long, and with lingering injuries some extra time off is no doubt best for Jett.

As a non-Aussie, I think anyone who saw their schedule last year will be ok with it. They both came back from pretty gnarly injuries then raced 16-17 races (outdoors, MXdN, a handful of AusX races, and two nights at Bercy) to end the year. Figure in all the travel and that’s a full schedule.

Big difference between having a break after cleaning up for a couple of years and using excuses to avoid going at all.

Yeah there will be, mine will probably be one of them. I bought a 2025 yz250x and I rekon its resale probably just tanked this morning. If the Kawi is any good ill probably wait till the following years model to make sure any kinks have been ironed out. But ill definately be getting one. Im struggling to stop myself going straight to the dealer now and putting a deposit down. The YZ looks pretty ancient all of a sudden. I only went Yamaha coz its its Japanese and I cant bring myself to go Euro even though I know...

There are terms for this, I had to research it. Expectation Creep: The release target moves because market expectations move faster than the project can ship. The Horizon Problem: Every time you get closer, the destination moves farther away. Evidently it is a possible and common trap crowdfunded games fall into. Its not intentional. The game is trying to stay current and polished but the market is always changing. So the finish line moves, time to polish. Its running on a treadmill where the game is always getting better but never actually getting released.

$100k is virtually nothing in terms of game development.

Disagree. If you ride remotely technical style riding on a 2-stroke, it’s a nightmare without e-start, and it’s really not that great without a wide ratio transmission. Electronic power valve and EFI have made the 2-strokes run so clean at all times now as well. But in MX world all those things certainly aren’t as nice, still nice but not as nice haha.

What are the chances of the AMA dropping their outdated 2 stroke displacement rule ?

I was texting with a couple of my riding buddies this morning about the new KX327. One has a YZ250 and the other a YZ250X. Both said they will be buying the new Kawasaki. It's everything else they were waiting for (larger displacement, e-start, 6 speed on the X). These guys are Japanese dieheards who won't buy anything but. I suspect there are a lot out there, and a lot who may come back home so to speak. Time will tell, but I'd bet the farm Yamaha will be the next to step up.
