so if I walk onto the track at a MX race with no credentials, they'll let me hang around, right? When someone comes to me and says "Show me your ID" and I say "Oh, I don't have that" do you think they'll let me hang around? Will they buy me free lunch? A phone? How about free education?

No?

Wow, that's really mean of them.

Are you walking onto the track for shits and giggles or are you walking onto the track because you’re attempting to escape danger?

Can we sue Newsom ?  To my high school educated eyes shouldn't he be on site with a loudspeaker trying to diffuse the whole thing ?. He's doing the opposite. That's not what I want or expect out of our Governor who theoretically has our best interest at hand. At least TRY and de-escalate the situation ? So much wtf....

Since this whole thing started he’s been all over social media asking people to remain peaceful.

So your stance is that every one of the millions of illegal aliens from the last few years have entered to escape danger?

I never said that, Gimme threw out a hypothetical situation and I expanded upon it.

From what I can gather from attending a protest a few days ago (and of which I hope to gain even more information on by attending another one tonight), the vibe I am getting is it is less-so about the deportations themselves (everyone I talked to agrees the worst people have to go) and more-so to do with the changing goal posts, broken promises, and the excessive force in which all of it is being done. As far as flying the Mexican flags, aesthetically I don't think it's a great approach, but if I were in a different country and someone was trying to deport my family, friends, and neighbors (who also happened to originate in America) I feel like I would pull out an American flag and hit the streets to show my support as a member of the community being targeted. That said, I'm more of a lurker / ask-questions-guy at these events than I am someone who tries to contribute to either side of the narrative so I would most likely end up flagless.

Honestly dude, if you really want to know why this is all happening, be proactive and go attend one of these protests. You don't have to say anything pro or against what they're doing, just ask questions and let people talk. It's 100x more powerful than reading anything I (or anyone else) could possibly write, incredibly easy to do, and will give you far more clarity than anything you'll see online.

Exactly, “asking people to remain peaceful” had me literally LMAO. What a fucking idiotic thing to say. They weren’t peaceful to begin with! 😂😂

I feel dumber again.  Not sure if it's because I was dumb enough to click on this thread when I know it will make me mad.  Or the fact that we have these stupid Politicians in USA?  My brain dead head really hurts!

How would you handle it? The LA police were overwhelmed. It’s not a peaceful protest….. it’s vandalism, looting and violence against law enforcement. Do you not want this to stop? How would you feel if your business was being threatened or attacked? I’m sure you would feel differently had one of these illegals done harm to you ,your family or friends. So again how would you stop the rioting?

Man where else are you going to get first hand account from message board troll who attended the protest to just ask questions, and a bunch of foreigners weighing in on how they think it should all be handled? Mix in some constitutional and immigration law. Should get college credit for reading this thread.

They aren't overwhelmed, they just know that the same leaders who got them into this mess will feed them to crowd if they actually do their job.

The entire protest is about abuse of power.

By sending in the national guard(illegally without the governor’s permission) and the marines (illegal without invoking the insurrection act) they’re abusing power even more.

Your “law and order” requires the government to follow the law. It is not doing so. Hence the protests.

Its about fixing the abuse of power in sanctuary cities and abuse of power by democrats, rino Republicans and corporations using illegal labor and facilitating mass illegal immigration. Especially the last 4 years.

Thanks for the civil thought out reply.  I understand why it's happening. I'm a look at both sides, give a guy the benefit of a doubt guy. But I actually have to go work right now so I'm not avoiding a reply. I'll get back to this later.

For sure, dude!

I'm also a very much a "give them the benefit of a doubt" guy as well... hence why I go to these things to experience them first hand.

Have a good one.

Fair enough.

But it's not that simple for me and honestly I wouldn't make a trip to LA if you offered to pay for it and pay me $10k on top of it.  One of the biggest cess pools in our Nation and I don't plan to ever go there again.

We don't have a lot of these types of protests where I come from so I'm not as easily able to see it first hand.

I'm sure it won't be long and Seattle will be following suit so maybe I'll go check that out when they decide to riot and take over a few city blocks and some government owned buildings again.  "Peacefully" of course

Thats  exactly how it is here in illinois.

Over the years Ie got to know about 80 active or retired officers, county and sheriff's. Part of my family owns a large priority security firm plus friends and family  that are in law enforcement.

There is zero chance their putting their job on the line for these shit stains if they can help it. They would rather let these people destroy themselves and come pick up the bodies later. They can't not trust their superiors or any of the politicians to stand by them. They know each one of them will throw them under the bus if need be to save their own ass.

Since this whole thing started he’s been all over social media asking people to remain peaceful.

How long after it started getting out of hand did it take for him to go on Twitter to calm things down? More or less time than Trump took on Jan 6th?

At least we've established that going on social media to calm things down is completely adequate.

Edit: spelling.

nice try. if I was entering the track for "safety", there would have been a step I missed because I didn't properly apply. So I get the boot. See how this works?

LA for sure has it's problems (every big city does) but as someone who lived in LA for 15 years (20 years in LA county), it's an amazing place. The beaches are great, the food is insane, tons of things to do, and if I wanted to (and did in high school) you can surf in the morning, drive out to the desert to ride by the afternoon, and hit up the slopes for some nighttime snowboarding all in a day.

I hear ya in terms of not being close to these things to experience them first hand but if you do ever get the chance, I recommend it. I've seen a lot of things I certainly don't agree with at them (committed by both sides of the protests) but that is greatly outweighed by the good I have experienced while attending them.

Do you feel as though there is a single common denominator between all these big cities that have their problems?

🤔

I do believe there is a single common denominator between all these big cities that have their problems, it's that there are a fuuuuuuuck load of people living in a very small space in a system that is designed to prioritize corporate profits over human wellbeing.

Are there any political similarities?  Do you feel that could have anything to do with any of the problems?

I think trying to paint it as a democrat vs republican issue is a moot point – and only serves as some of "gotcha" – as these problems don't exist because they are "democrat or republican", they exist because there is (as I previously mentioned) too many people living in too small of a place in a framework that prioritizes company profit over human well being. The results of this is a lot of people amassing at both ends of the financial spectrum, which then increases the need for more social services (due to the people on the bottom end of the spectrum having little to no ability to survive in the expensive ecosystem that has developed), which in turn guides the cities towards more democrat leaning policies because they're the ones that believe in chasing a world in which allows all boats to rise with the tide.
