Let’s not pretend that it takes a wizard to make a motocross bike. We’re talking about a company with a century of experience and the wherewithal to hire the right talent if they wanted to. I’m not saying that they want to now, but if you doubt they could, take a look at what Ducati is doing. These Euro OEMs are seeing some value in developing high performance 4stroke singles for the world market and they are using MX as a way to promote their brand.

No, they never made a motocross bike. Yes, their enduro bike didn’t achieve the desired sales from 2008 to 2010. But BMW has a long history of success off-road, going back as far as the ISDT in the 1920s. The GS model won the Paris-Dakar race many times. Multi-time World Champion MX racer Gaston Rahier rode factory GSs to 2 P-D victories. In 2000, the BMW team swept the top four places at this race, with American Jimmy Lewis finishing third on a boxer. The factory team stopped racing off-road after that, but how hard could it be for them...

I'm on a 25 dollar older Wal-Mart phone, bumming wifi from Starbucks, and posting out of Chrome. Never had a problem.

Executing under pressure?!? He’s a better SX rider than outdoors so this summer was a big step up. Winning a few outdoors with a guy on your ass the whole moto proves he can win with pressure. SX he had a title in his grasp but got F’d by his teammates reckless riding in traffic.

Did you not insinuate Star would not be going? "I would think the cost would vary greatly depending on whether Star already plans to be there with any of their other riders. If they are asking the same from GB as they asked from France that's probably a sign they aren't planning to go."

It's been explained over and over the reason Deegan gets criticised is because he was going on the podium and using patriotic rhetoric, which you would think meant he'd be first in line to represent his country..

There is none because he didn't back out. Reread your own sentence, not enough funding is not Max backing out of it.

Bottom line is you are out of your depth and can’t circle talk your way out of it. Have a great day and I hope you enjoy watching the race as much as I do.

Did you actually read the FAA summary you linked or the NSTB findings? It was a multitude of problems that lead to that situation. One being the inspection program was prescribed solely by flight hours, not flight cycles. That AC was doing almost double the flight cycles as anticipated for the flight hours between checks. A 737 has a Design Service Objective of 75k cycles but Aloha 243 had done 89,680. Additionally, there were human factors involved with questionable inspection procedures, manufacturing issues (poor bonding), and corrosion issues. This was much more than “FEA says rivet is good for X...

It's interesting that @PTshox's example of FEA was a plane crash from 1988, when FEA was in it's infancy, and the fastest supercomputer, the Cray Y-MP who's 8 processors, had a combined processing power of 2.6GFLOPS. wow! Any desktop computer from the last 10 years has more computing power, the latest Intel i9 has processing power of 1,228GFLOPS, the fastest supercomputer is now over 1,200,000GFLOPS. Computing power in the late 80s would have only allowed rudimentary FEA, I doubt Boeing even used it to model rivet joints. Back to the OP's question, ceramic bearing will make negligible difference, there are...

It's much more likely the gains came from smoothing square edge and improving minor transitions than an actual polished surface. 😉

Correct. I'm not going to believe anything a team says in these instances because i can use my brain and understand incentives. You almost get the point I'm making. Almost.
