Looked like the header pipe started smoking when it was resting on his chest- assuming it was melting his chest protector.. Wonder if they end up sharing a pic of that!

I thought the same thing.  Brutal!   I’d be surprised if he didn’t get a nasty burn somewhere on his upper body from that pipe.   That had to be an ugly feeling being under that bike and no way to get out from under it.

How about some props to Chance Hymas for setting qualifying time of 2:13 2 seconds quicker than 2nd best time, Ist moto charge to lead that was EPIC!! getting up from what seemed to be a season ending crash and lining up for moto 2, DUDE!!! Your a BEAST!! Levi showed him some love on the podium early in interview, good on you Levi! Any word on the day after? Sure looked like from replay that he was knocked out.

The bike kicking out like that looked similar to Tomac’s when he was on the GEICO Honda.

I was screaming at the TV. The flagger right by him wasn't going to stop a collision. Put the damn flag down and get the freaking bike off him now. I saw that header burning what was hopefully just his helmet.

Either way, although in a road situation, I've been in that situation, which made me extra edgy watching. Some dude on a GSXR turned into a slipper intersection at speed, racing a yellow/red light to keep up with me. I didn't know him, but I turned around to see his front end slide out and a Ford Thunderbird run him over. The bottom of the damn engine was on his helmet, and the oil pan was burning him while others just stood around like that flagger with one hand on the car, trying to pick it up. Good grief.

Man, he was absolutely flying. He was definitely on another level.

What do you think caused his crash? Was it rider error/came in too hot, or could it have been avoided with a better bike setup? I thought it was strange how the backend suddenly kicked sideways like that.

I’ve been knocked out before. Also witnessed plenty of others get knocked out. 2:18ish laps. Chance was shown on the broadcast sitting on his bike again after a little over 1 full lap. We usually aren’t sitting back on the bike within a few minutes after getting knocked out. Deductive reasoning?

Because ? You have to be KO'ed to have a concussion?

So in your mind, any rider that doesn't pop right back up after a crash is knocked out? It couldn't possibly be that he took a handlebar to the chest and was trying to get his breath back?

I kinda thought he might be knocked out too from the way his right (I think) arm/hand/wrist just went limp when he was coming to a stop. Hopefully not. Nobody seems to think the Jo’s are that bad tell they are then it’s to late. And yes I know all about it, the reason I had to quite riding motorcycles. I just couldn’t recover anymore.

Read it again. I said nothing like that.

If a rider crashes and isn't knocked out and keeps riding, they will tell you that he wasn't knocked out. If a rider is knocked out and gets up and keeps riding, they are not going to tell you that, because they'd get rightly crushed for it. So my only point here is that a team denying that a guy who kept riding was knocked out doesn't really mean anything because that's what they're going to say no matter what the truth is. They have no other choice. If Lars found out after the race that he was knocked out, you really think he's going to say that in an interview?

I read it just fine; unless he pops right back up, you're not going to believe anything the team or rider says, even if the guy wasn't knocked out.

Correct. I'm not going to believe anything a team says in these instances because i can use my brain and understand incentives. You almost get the point I'm making. Almost.

Honda Red Devil bit him, this time the Red Devil swapped from the rear, instead of the usual front.

Bummer as he was on rails, looked great!

That dude was FLYING. Can’t wait to see if this big step up in results carries over into supercross for him.

Unsure of photo source - saw it posted by Dirtbikelover this morning. If you go back and watch the live broadcast replay, you can clearly see him moving under the bike trying to get that fire breathing dragon off of him.

Edit - photo was pulled from his insta story.

A burn that bad doesn't hurt . nerves are damaged. I speak from experience.
