1. The reason why Egypt has closed its border is because Hamas is friendly with The Muslim Brotherhood. Egypt has had enough trouble with those fundamentalists domestically. And they fear Hamas supporters and fighters will be fleeing to Egypt to bolster TMB there. 2. Egypt has better relations with Israel, and does not want to compromise it by offering a safe haven for Hamas to use the border to gain security. 3. Egypt does not have the economy or resources to accept the large numbers of Palestinian refugees that would cone from Gaza.
