It's hard to stay in race shape when there's an event every 6 months.

I bought the race for $8.99.  Cheap entertainment. Cool

It looks like I'm potentially going and I'm VERY interested to observe the changes/improvements since Birmingham.

I expect some significant and noteworthy changes!

HAHA  "noteworthy changes". Just let us know if they're using foam tough blocks instead of empty cardboard boxes. That alone will speak for the lack of effort by WSX.

We all know/ think that the cardboard tuff blocks are a joke, but seriously what reasonable alternatives do they have to transporting/ sourcing tuff blocks at different venues around the world?

The cost of moving large volumes of foam blocks would be ridiculous and unless you’re going to a location that already holds a SX and has foam blocks on hand, what’s your options? And other than the cheap looking optics, are they really that bad?

Yeah that’s crazy, but he handled the switch-a-roo last year better than most would.

I was trying to figure out how to watch yesterday as well.  I know I have watched WSX before, but forgot how as it has been so long.  For those with cable in the US, it will be on FS1 on Sunday.

Is there any info on why those 2 are out?

TBH, Ralph and Jeff were at their absolute worst.

Lost, not familiar with the program or the riders, and in full promotion crap mode.

It comes with the territory as a promoter. They're already spending millions each event. Paying for a couple semi loads of foam blocks isn't that big of a hit. Its called being cheap in a series claiming "WORLD" status. And most of all its dangerous to the riders without them being foam.

Either way, it's pretty shitty for them to put "costs" in front of rider safety when they have run their mouths about being a "World Championship"

Have they paid all the Teams and riders what they were owed from the first round yet?

I'm not excusing WSX of doing a shitty job with the series, but given the original schedule released, the logistics of taking foam blocks around the world just doesn't add up. Alot of these countries dont even have many tractor-trailers, most stuff is trucked by cab-over box trucks.

Printed cardboard over locally sourced hay bales would have been a good compromise.

I know this has been argued many times, but wouldn't it be safer if there were no tough blocks?  IMO they cause more harm than good.  How many riders last year in supercross clipped or landed on one causing a crash that otherwise would not have happened?  I don't the exact number, I but I am certain it was more than 2 or 3....   Every once in a while someone crashes and lands on one and it prevents a worse injury, but I think that is the exception

Paul Malin is clearly a great bloke, immensely knowledgeable having been there and done it (and done it well, at that) and he's a true and commited student of the sport at every level. I don't think there's a technically 'better' guy for the job out there.

But I just don't like listening to him as a commentator / "announcer".

I'm glad I'm the minority and most like him because he truly deserves the work and does a great job, super professionally. It's just too shouty and all the "Ooooooh!" when anything happens that does me in 😂

No, it's way better for them to go off the track and head on into riders going down the next lane.

Thats the rider making a mistake that causes the crash not the tough blocks, they are just sitting there marking the track boundaries minding their own business until a out of control rider decides to hit them.

Inflatable blocks would seem to solve a lot of the problems. Pack up easy for shipping, offer some energy absorption. Just need an air compressor or two.
