I did think it was odd that at Pala, people—mostly campers—had EZ-Ups set right up against the fence, with caution tape around them to secure their space. I guess it’s fine, but it really hurts the viewing experience for everyone else. Even on the backside of the track, people had EZ-Ups covering the hillside. The fences were nuts to butts, five people deep. For the price we all pay, plus parking fees, you’d think we were attending a luxury event. Oh well—this is the life we choose, I guess.

There should be rules against that kind of horseshit. Completely unfair to everyone else trying to watch the race that doesn’t have an Ez up.

I've seen douchebags with scaffolding set up along the fences at Hangtown before. I agree that kind of bullcrap should not be allowed.

Since when have the nationals been 100$ a person... jumping jehosafats.. these prices have me flabberghasted for a family of 4.. I paid less for the denver supercross that was only 35$ a pop... who is pricing this stuff?

I checked Hangtown, Thundervalley and Mt Morris.

I'm looking to use my military discount for thundervalley if anybody has any locations besides vettix and govx.

MX Sports is ruining motocross.

Tim Cotter is ruining it.

We use to get backdoor tickets with all day pit passes for $80.

Some needs to send the link to this thread to Davey and Tim.

KCSupercross

At Qualcomm Stadium (San Diego SX), there were always $12 tickets available.

That wasn't that long ago.

I expect prices to increase, but it's out of hand.

I tore a ligament in my wallet several years back at Pala and was never the same, so I retired from attending since.  Not saying I'd never attend a National or SX again, but I'd probably have to have a few mixed drinks, beer or coffee in me first.

I'll be turning 61 in 3 weeks and I've never a had mixed drink, a beer or a cup of coffee, so...

How about those World Cup Soccer ticket prices, lol!

Impressive on the lack of liquid courage drinks you've missed out on. J/k. I didn't realize you where that old. I know you been here as long as I have. I went to pala and Hangtown last year as I was working out there (Santa cruz) and our contract ended right about that time. I was like I may never be back out this way again (from bama) so I'm gonna bite the bullet and pay that price!!

To the guy that mentioned ez-ups. Pala had a bunch but fuck me Hangtown was way worse for viewing that pala due to those fucking things. I get it though, it was on her a 100 degrees and those fucking hills will wear on your ass. Lol

250,000 to sit court side at a nba final game

$100 to take the misses out to dinner

$150 to ski for a day excluding equipment

$90 to play a round of golf on the best course in town

Idk man 100 bucks is a lot to watch a national but “pay to play” is very real in 2026

$100+ a person+the dumb smx league fee, all to wait 2 hours to go 2 miles and not even use the pit passes we bought. All to pay $30 in parking, park in the back 40, stare at banners, the podium, and the mechanics area all day, and use porta-pots. Oh and the 2+ hour wait to drive out, I've never been at Pala when it's dark. It was never this bad before. I call it #thedeeganeffect. Also not a huge fan of the EZ Ups you guys paid to camp, that's your shade is your camper.

I thought you all were fans of Motocross?? Check prices of any other top sport and MX is still Cheap, prices are just not what they were 20 years ago for anything and yes, it is hot, sunny and you got to walk a mile and stand, but MX is a tough mans sport, right??

It's a participation sport. The tolerance for jock sniffing is lower than the sports ball demographics, generally speaking, because $100 ticket could go along way toward riding your own bike, and just watching the race on TV while you recover from your own ride in a/c.

Also all non f1 top motorsports are mostly all on par with our little circus in cost. I don't think they charge a league fee either and they don't cordon off 70 percent of the prime viewing areas for vip ticket holders

I would but DC blocked me. I asked some questions on a random IG post, never mentioned him at all, and he went out of his way to let me know I earned his unfollow. He also randomly brought pedophile accusations into it when he could have walked away. He sounds more like Mirtl the Self Represented over Mirtl the Professional Representative if you ask me.

The comment...

Also, if the SMX final pays $5m, then based on his numbers, that means the TV production is $2.5m and the overall TV deal is only $7.5m per year. I'm gonna go out on a limb and call bullshit.

Ps. This was right after the race he hosted, where his mother was drunkenly yelling at fans walking in, and on the way out. She blamed the fans for USA losing lol I counted five Moto Tee's 18-wheelers at Ironman. Business must be good to put 5 trucks on the road and pay for 5 vendor licenses to himself. Privateers still can't sell T-shirts without paying him.

Just my 0.02 $. Gonna compare apples to oranges but attended MXGP of Germany at "cute little Teut"™ and general admittance for sunday (paddock entry included) was 85 EURO which is comparable to mxgp in loket in last 5 years... so i wasn't that shocked... but when i googled it in USD i was quite shocked that it is 97 $!!!!! Have you considered that maybe mxsports is charging as much as the House of Luongo, only the dollar just went tits up in last couple years? 😑

100 bucks is steep but what isn’t anymore. Most of the reasons I don’t attend nats or sx anymore is due to people being selfish Aholes (see the ez up comments above) belligerently drunk, or a combination of both. Then when I’ve hit my max and I’m ready to leave I get to sit in traffic for 2 hrs with the same people I just wanted to throat punch just now they’re behind the wheel acting the same.

"Juice the faithful" is the business model now. It is what it is, but that's definitely what it is.

They are slowly roasting the geese that lay the golden eggs.

I've been to countless nationals and have come to the conclusion that it's way better to watch at home with mates.

You barbaque next to the swimming pool with cold beers. You have a clean porcelain toilet, you got air-conditioning, and you actually get to see the racing.

Geeze Last Braaap, you're lucky you put that Trade Mark notation there!

"She Who Must Be Obeyed", would have had you guts for garters, and your life savings without that!

But, serious now : I did a $30  USD in 2001 ( going by an earlier posters price from then) to  todays USD search.

Came to a few cents off of $55 USD.

Not sure what extra you get now for that difference, And, every bloody thing seems to have gone up disproportionately. I've ben going to a lot of plays / music lately, and  they really drain the wallet.

Been to quite a few 'Luongo events', and yes, it's in the same price range.

I've not been to a US National or SX for a few years now - I would very much like to get over and do a bit of travelling around again - The Nationals Specifically - but, it will take a shedload of money. That's for next year - and, it will be a toss up between that, or the IOMTT / a few GPs / perhaps a WCDH.

I've an offer to work at the 2026 MTB WC at Val Di Sole in Trentino ( just a bit north of the GP venue) from the 26th of August, and, will probably do it, as I can get to the Dutch MXGP the weekend before on the 22nd , on my employers $ . Trying to find / justify the extra funds to go to the Swedish GP the week before it, but it is unlikely.

The AFT twins and singles national is two miles from my house tonight. I’ve never been to a national flat track before but I think I would rather watch the MX national from the comforts of my own living room. The AFT race is being broadcast live also. I will probably regret not going but I just hate fighting the crowds any more.

100 dollars a person to look at a sea of sprawling banners lining the track obstructing the ability to watch the riders.

I went to the Kentucky derby once, just to say I did since I live close. Infield so crowded I never even saw the horses. And I don’t drink and wasn’t partying.

I don’t think it’s too far fetched to consider that the price increases are what’s needed to keep everyone involved in the green or margin whole.

It’s not a shock to anyone on here that the cost of everything has gone up substantially in the past 5 years. Insurance, taxes, permits, labor, equipment, and maintenance on said equipment have all been sky rocketing since the start of the pandemic. Some of these tracks also have to do a lot of work around the facilities to get ready for these nationals each year. Much of the material used to do this is with imported goods that have been subject to substantial tariff pressures since the start of 2025. Tack on the cost of fuel right now and it’s just one big perfect storm.

The cost of doing business has gone up substantially since 2000, so we can’t use that as an apples to apples comparison to justify why tickets should still be $30 or whatever they were 25 years ago.

Does it suck? Yes. Do I think there are just a bunch of greedy jerks out there lining their pockets more than they were before the cost of everything went up so much? No, I don’t.

Now just imagine what the cost of tickets would be if they increased the riders purse….

I knew someone would come along and defend it

Pretty sure the track would get a cut of the gate? Sign of the times, still better than going to a NFL game or any sports playoff game.

Pro sports is a joke and the consumer is making some folks rich. Its more fun to play than watch anyways, go ride today instead.

And I knew someone would come back with a condescending response while having absolutely zero facts or data to support a different perspective.

I have nothing against you or anyone else on here who feels differently. I’ve just provided what I believe could be reasonably possible based on my experiences in business and life.
