Interesting / strange sponsors

Sobe. That No Fear Suzuki team was way cool looking. I know it's just another beverage company so it's not necessarily strange, but it's alittle different!

A few weeks ago I remembered that Star was sponsored by MyPlash and I went to check it out and it seems like mastercard killed that brand a while ago? What even was it?

TLD Honda sponsor list from 2010….

I was a rep for TLD during this. They gave us a few sample packs of these to sell to dealers.  I can sell anything. I did not sell any. 

The first unusual sponsorship I remember was in 1983 when Bob Hannah went to Honda and had TDK cassette tapes as a sponsor.

Cole Davies current personal sponsor, Komatsu. 

These were sick

Factory Yamaha brought on "Knich" as a sponsor, never really knew what they did but the company disappeared not long after. I think Davi had some stake in it, can't really remember though.

Minear also has that fake science bracelet deal. It’s a helmet sticker under the visor. 

There was a privateer sponsored by Nintendo a while back. 

Blimpie Subs

The only real evidence I can't find of this is a page on his website. Kinda a weird partnership. It seems the partnership is specifically with the part of the brand that builds Forestry equipment. I would say get him on a skiddy, but that branch of the company doesn't even make those... Head scratcher.

Can't remember the team name but I think it was a Honda team was sponsored by some film company, I think there's a picture of Ernie's? Bike with 'The Mummy' graphics

On a similar note, Volcom isn't an unusual sponsor but the gear they had with Thor and RV was so sick. Honestly my favourite gear sets of all time. Wish they'd come back. 

Or even DC is now getting back into the sport, would be cool to see collab gear sets with them, even though I don't think there ever was any when they were more involved, there was collab shoes with riders though. Reason I bring them up is because DC is owned by the same parent company as Volcom

Jack in the Box sponsored the old FC team with Larocco, and there was a Blimpie Suzuki team too for a while

I had heard that Jack in the Box wasn’t even a sponsor of Laroccos team when it started, they had just put the logo there to try and attract a bigger sponsor or to make it seem like they had a bigger sponser. I forget what podcast platform I heard it from, but I remember one of the team onwers (?) saying that they didn’t get any money Jack in the Box for that.
