So I guess I have a reason to try and qualify for Loretta’s in the 40 + class. If there is even a small chance that he will be racing there or debuting a new Kawi 2 stroke, that is enough for me to do the area and regional races!

Dood u need some new dreams

I really just want to see James ride again in person.  So if he is at Loretta’s my options are go there to watch, or go there to “race” and at the same time see one of the all time greats on a mx track.

How cool would it be to see James and Chad at the Ranch in over 40. J Law must be getting close to 40 as well

Actually not sorry. Y'all can downvote all you want. Really easy to hit that downvote button instead of stating what you disagree on and striking a conversation.

This place has gone downhill in the last 10 years.

Some one will pay big money to get him riding their bike even it was just one day at his own track.

Heard he’s been training Florida native Kevin Sherman

The last time James raced professionally was...not pretty.

I hope he's able to just go out and enjoy riding without fans badgering him about not being the same guy he was 12+ years ago.

I'd love to see him ride and enjoy it but he pretty much stated Mookie was leaps faster than him these days so I'd say any return to racing is out of the question. Just enjoy riding with his boys and showing them from time to time what ol' dad can do.

Almost like people had carrots in their ears when he talked about this when reading most of these comments…

Imagine if he shreds the new 2t Kawi, the moto world would lose its shit

This would completely make up for the wait.

I seen a social post stating Stew was on Pulp and hinting at the people seeing him ride at some point in 2026.

Been waiting a long time to see Stew ride again...Dude has probably been ripping in secrecy the last few years. He's cut these days and he has Malcom as a gauge to see where he's at with todays pace. If he's making a public appearance to turn some laps somewhere, you'd think he's gotta be feeling good.

He’s talking about a pre recorded video at his house.  He will release something like that.  Anyone that thinks he’s racing or doing anything competitive is on crack

I really don’t see him “testing” in secret with Malcom for some random appearance. It’s not like he’d ever line up for a mx or sx again if anything LL.

I could totally see him doing that, actually. If he got the itch again (like most retired racers do at some point) why would you not go test with someone close to you like your brother who also happens to still be competitive at the highest level?

Never say never... Look what Dunge did...

Let's reel our heads in from the clouds a touch. Dungey was 31 last time he raced (younger than half of the current top 6 in SX points), and only five years removed from his last season (which he won). James is 40 and 10 years removed from his last season that he only made seven rounds of (and never finished inside the top 10).

This isn't to say I don't want to see him ride again, because I'd love to, but to think this is some kind of run-up to a comeback, or even an attempt at Loretta's is a bit far fetched.

Hope it makes him smile!

Hopefully he rides a 125 that’s what he’s know for.  And hits the big 2-st races people would Love it.  Makes more sense than a 450 & less chance of major injuries.

"been playing fulltime dad, busy life since the kids mother moved away" 🧐

The word "suddenly" was used also, I noted. This could also explain the house situation that arose recently. Unfortunately, it seems behind the scenes there's been some changes to his family dynamic, which are of course not nice. He spoke about it very well without getting into the details.

Hopefully that's somewhat behind him and he can move forwards.

yeah that's what i gathered as well. Again, i don't need to know details. mans private life.. But i think that kind of gives context and a little understanding on why certain rumours or stories have come out over the past 12 months.

Sound's like he got things worked out and back on track though. Hope JS7 continues with the way things are going.

Small correction: RJ was 52 and Anstie 65...

Are your number in Metric Years?

A new shot of this on a KX300.... 100% for sure he'd be up for it!

A few years ago on his podcast James and Davey Coombs joked about him racing Loretta’s but seriously doubt he’d really do that. A shoot at the compound and maybe a surprise inclusion in opening ceremonies at SMX or something would be good enough for me

James vs Carson Brown on the KX 2t would break the internet.

Anyone remember when Stew and Weege announced one of the later years of RedBull SR? During that, Weege jokingly asked if James would come out of retirement to compete again in future years. James said yes that's something he would consider... Too bad RBSR is no more

VMXDN is in August so plenty of time to get bike fit

Would be riding against alot of guys around his age and older on 2 strokes

Doc Wob and Dave King can make it happen if anyone can

Hawkstone would be PACKED for that event

We can dream

When and if he rides a bike again I would assume he would wear Seven gear but he doesn't really promote it?

I hope he rides again someday and enjoys himself.  He doesn't owe us anything!

100%. Was a huge fan, still a huge fan. He was for sure the FMOTP in his prime, but I'm quite sure he's realistic about his abilities now vs. then. No matter...I'd love to see him ride again in whatever venue he chooses. And even if he chooses not to...like Ramrod says above, James doesn't owe us anything.
