Sometimes but especially like watching the last 10-20 laps
Not in a specific order.
Moto. Rally. Off-road racing. Grassroots drifting. Other action sports(skate/BMX/snow ETC)..
I get that… I just kept watching and stayed on top of the up coming drivers, teams and pit drama. Many times I have other things going on ,so I record it and just watch the last 50 laps or so. My wife loves watching too, and I’m slowly helping her learn all the drivers and teams. My oldest son is a big fan too.
I grew up with it as both my Mom and Dad were huge fans and watched every race. I kept up with it after I moved out and I would take them to races at TMS when it opened. They were Earnhardt and Earnhardt, Jr. fans and we were at TMS for Jr.'s first win. Somewhere along the way the sport lost me, though. I can't put a finger on why or when I lost interest, but I don't know any of the current drivers and am more likely to watch a re-run of a cooking show than a live nascar race.

Days of thunder. Nicole Kidman was smoking hot back then.
Yes she was. I believe that’s the movie where her and Tom met.
I don't buy that at all. A racer is a racer and a racing fan is a racing fan. I've said I don't watch as much as I used to but I still love everything that goes fast. I like fast motorcycles, fast cars, fast boats and fast anything else that has an engine.
From what I understand the guy that was ruining everything in NASCAR is gone now and they are going to try to bring it back to it's roots.
At times, I would keep it on as background noise in the 90s-00s, but not now.
I won tix to the Dover, DE race about 10 years ago and surprisingly had a blast. It's far more entertaining in person and NASCAR has a great tailgating experience.
Most of my life revolves around racing, whether it be dirtbikes (my favorite always) nascar, dirt late models, modifieds or sprint cars
There's a second one in the works.
That was a great interview and was pretty much ignored at the time by Moto media, IIRC.
Was working for Penske when Ryan Newman won the 500 in 2008, we went 1-2 , really cool to watch that live.
What a waste of oil and gas. Hell no.
I heard a lot of nascar talk at the local races in the late 90s up to the mid 00’s I felt like during that time it kinda went hand in hand with moto.
I’m 41, been watching since 1995. It ain’t what it used to be, but it’s still racing damnit.
awwwww hell nawwww
Definitely the best tailgating as far as sports go. The racing not so much
I’ve recently found speed sport channel for free on Roku and I’ve really been enjoying the prime cuts show, local modified racing and anything sprint car. I enjoy f1 and moto gp but it’s a struggle to watch without paying for the expensive package. Haven’t watched NASCAR at all.
Not much of a 4 wheels on pavement guy, but I'm all about trophy trucks and sprint cars. Those I can watch all day, especially in person. A trophy truck flying by at 100+ over a piece of shit whooped out dirt road is pretty exciting. Likewise watching a 1400lb sprint car with 900 hp pitch it sideways at a buck thirty aint too bad either.
Pit Row
The new car and the rules are stupid. They forgot what made it interesting, which was creativity and ingenuity to make your car better.
Don’t forget *cry moto.
Not a fan of pavement circles, but dirt circles I'm all in. The wild West shootout in Arizona this past week was GREAT! FLORACING give it a shot, you won't be disappointed.
Live fairly close to Texas Motor Speedway. In the 1990's, people would hunker down due to the excessive traffic. Now a day, the traffic has become so congested, every day seems like race days. The track recently demolished all the back stretch seats. They also only sell the middle sections on the front straight trying to make the crowd look bigger. The new "format" has killed it. The good ole boys are no more. NASCAR is dying, will be interesting to see the future. At least they have not gone to electric cars....
I watched NASCAR years ago but stopped watching after all the changes they made to the series.
It feels a bit awkward when they bring guests on the broadcast sometimes. I can’t tell if they’re just “famous” people who happen to be at the race or if they’re there specifically for the feature, but either way they usually feel pretty random. Most of the time I’ve never heard of them, and they’re clearly trying to look interested in the sport for a few minutes before talking about something I’m not really there to watch.
By contrast, the feature on the ex-military guy who was a Tomac fan, went to A1 with his wife and met Tomac — that was genuinely interesting. That was a real fan story.
I’d much rather see them pick a fan each round to spotlight. Give them a free experience at the event and tell us their story. Real moto fans getting the VIP treatment instead of random celebrities from other sports that I don’t really care about.
Has anyone ever tuned into NASCAR for the first time because they saw a driver on the supercross?
I voted YES but was looking for a SOMETIMES option. I really enjoy watching the road course races. Anytime they turn more than one direction I’m interested and add it to my calendar. I’m not scheduling my weekend around it like moto but it’s fun to watch.
So they have good getting drunk in the parking lot? 😂
I've watched some of the bigger races a few times and it was okay. Never really gotten into it though.
The Aussie Supercar series I guess is our home grown comparison over here which IMO was superior but seems to be slowly dying off...cant put a finger on why. Maybe the slow death of free to air TV and shit being put behind paywalls (Kayo etc).
Shake n bake Johnny. Sorry you dont get invited, you'll get through it
Only the Road course races 👀
Started watching the '92 season during the off season. Damn, the racing was good back then. Pretty much every race has passing and drama, and you never know who's going to win until the closing laps. And they didn't have to manufacture it with fake debris cautions, stage racing, or playoffs.
I don't know why they felt the need to change it. I think the series got too big for it's own good; it's popularity drew in new talent that didn't have that southern/mid-western charm, and they kept adding new rules to try and add excitement instead of just focusing on the racing. They tried too hard to appease networks and sponsors, and in the process, they killed what drew everyone to it in the first place. And they keep doubling down on it.
