They should worry about getting him some suspension first especially a shock that wont try and kill him

If Tomac gets a clutch cable setup, it will be the hottest aftermarket product for about 6 months.

They gave Dungey a hand shifter so I am sure they can give Tomac a cable clutch.

It wouldn't be that big of a deal to do it, just like Yamaha it'll be an adapter that goes in place of the slave cylinder.

Sounds like you are familiar with the 23-25 YZ450F. It would be very similar, just in reverse.

All he needs is a throttle cable.

Just one too, doesn’t even need a return cable.

I can ride with either and I’m not overly picky on which has better feel… but you’re crazy if you think they feel the same.

KTM has been perfecting the hydraulic clutch for 25 years and probably has millions of hours on them on their factory bikes and how to make them work. Much more reliable option than developing some sort of janky cable conversion deal they have no R&D time on.

Its no secret the KTM design of the actual guts of the clutch is the best OEM design out there, if you look at any of these full aftermarket clutch setups for Japanese bikes they are very similar.

That whole bullshit about Tomac liking the Yamaha so much he took a pay cut from Kawasaki to go to yamaha.  So stupid.  Tomac is motivated solely by money.  And if he finally found his bike, like RC said 2,000 times while Tomac was on yamaha, why would he leave the only bike he likes?  If tomac likes pay cuts and yamaha so much, im sure they could have worked out a deal for bonuses only or something, just so Tomac can stay on the Yamaha that he loves so much .

KTM was the last factory choice for Tomac, I doubt it is everything he wants, especially after seeing Chase on it this year. The 22 route is wayyy too expensive for Tomac who’s just trying to race for another 2 years imo.

I believe that chase signed his Kawasaki contract well before he got the KTM dialed in.  Maybe he made that decision a bit prematurely.

Does any moto journalist on this forum know when in fact he signed his Kawasaki contract?

I totally still look for Sexton to be a lot sorrier that he left KTM for Kawasaki than Tomac will be that he left Yamaha for KTM. I hope I'm wrong.

I would be more surprised if there wasn't a cable clutch. What's the big deal anyway to KTM? You think they run a stock clutch? Nope. Are those stock forks/shock or clamps? Nope. They mod everything...so wtf is the big deal about a clutch cable instead of the hydro???

So instead of Kinda Tookout McGrath it'll be Killed Tomac's Momentum ?

so everyone thinks that he hasn’t ridden the KTM with the hydraulic clutch, he signed the contract at the end of the summer and he rode the bike and is currently riding the bike with the hydro clutch.

The hydro clutch on my 2018 TC 250 was rubbish. Too short of a throw, it was practically binary. The hydro clutch on my 22 Honda is much closer to a cable, but still doesn't give as much haptic feedback.

It was rubbish because it was Magura. KTM uses Brembo-system. Night and day difference.

Does KTM still use the belleview washer type clutch ?

If so would that be doable with a cable?

I have no clue.

Spring type is separate and irrelevant to actuation method.  YZ450 uses a KTM copy clutch with a Bellville spring washer with cable actuation.

Thanks, I thought maybe the Belleville  might have a higher spring rate.

It is very very highly unlikely but definitely possible. All ktm has to do is make the same setup as Yamaha which is basically a cable slave cylinder that bolts on the same spot at a hydro slave. The reason they built the Yamaha like that was for Tomac. Ktm 100% could do it but they won’t because you “can’t buy it that way”

I’ve heard rumblings. From very credible people. I think it will be a surprise either way. KTMs commitment to racing is next level, even in the dog days they are in right now.
