You may be misapprehending that the marketing objective is to appeal to the masses rather than a focused passionate fan base that identifies with a combative, outsider image. Brian leveraged a short mediocre MX career off the emerging freestyle movement with the whole Mulisha schtick by appealing to that niche and banked millions. Like or not, that was an accomplishment.
The approach certainly has a ceiling beyond who it's intended to appeal to, but they'll continue to print more money than most in MX, even some of the elite well paid guys.
Like it or not.
I hear you. If I'm not mistaken, I believe you are an attorney, at least that's what I recall from some of your older posts. I think we've probably both excelled at work outside of this forum and outside of this industry.
My comment about Brian's marketing genius was meant to convey that I think he's reached his ceiling of effectiveness. Yes, it got him and his family to this point but he's now overplayed his hand.
The outlaw, mulisha, douchebag persona has started to backfire on Haiden. He needed some friends out there. Without all of his dick moves on the track and shit talk off of it, he probably would have won this SMX championship.
He’s part of the militia. They liked his comment.
“Lib tears”, yeah I’m going to assume it’s Brian, lol

If they don't want things to go down they should take away the double and triple points and just run it like regular races. Had it been like that Deegan would have been down 1 pt and it would have been winner take all
Brian must of snuck on the laptop late into the evening to fire such nonsense.
I watched their video of the race. They did alot of polishing. But none of it worked.
My Socials of the moto community are all against what he did (is doing). All the moto forums the same.
But look at his channels comments. Who are these people? They really do have their own fan base outside of the mainstream sport.
Unfortunately for them they are still part of this sport and they don't have any different rules for them. They may feel above it. But they aren't
Agreed, sometimes I think the behavior is just to churn the mania. The old who cares what they say as long as they are talking about you shtick.
I like to remember the days when Travis Pastrana would smoke The Metal Dementia wreaking crew at their freestyle game. Mind you he smoked Brian's little crew during X-Games while racing SX/MX. (TP) Young guy with a great attitude and always thanked the fans and his competitors.
I mean I may be in the minority here but those comments aren't totally inaccurate. Yes it looked ridiculous looking back, the antics etc but he didn't slam him. Jo admits he wasn't the fastest, Levi helped his cause for this "title". There are 99% keyboard warriors that wouldn't say shit to any of these racers faces myself included. SMX triple points payout got exactly what they wanted, drama. They'll replay that clip all 2026 SX series for hype.
If he goes all Savatgy/Osborne and wins the title then he goes on to help USA win nations it paints a different picture. People will hate the kid regardless just like the fans turned on Jett briefly.
As a fan of moto I'm bummed our shot of winning mxdn just went down a few points.
It’s funny how you can win so many races and championships…..and still be a loser.
Aside from more serious matters, this is one of the more embarrassing things someone could get exposed for on this forum.
“Thank you Mr. Deegan. kissing noises Oh closer to the hole sir? Yes sir.”
They're fucking clowns in their own clown show. The respectable thing to do would be to congratulate Jo on the win and move forward. But, they've always been like this, and honestly it's on Brian more than Haiden. I feel kind of bad for the kid with no way to see shit other than through his dad's eyes. Two words: Travis Pastrana. Brian always has played the victim. He figured out how to make money with the Mulisha, that's great. In the end people remember how you played the game. They are supposed to be all hard and shit and all I see is drama queens.
I agree with this, the series got what they wanted. His takeout and attempts were no where near friese or barcia, or even zacho vs joey level. I’m also bummed he won’t be going, if he does go, i’ll know that he try his best to do as good as he can, 100% or not.
This is called a narcissistic wound.
1. No wonder they’re so delusional… the comment section gives the kid’s dipshit riding validation.
2. I’m 99% sure that this is Brian commenting, which is insane to me. Someone take that dude’s phone and get this family a PR team asap.
3. THERE’S A DRUG RING INSIDE MXSPORTS!
That ceiling rakes in a lot of money as it is - a lot - and I expect "selling out" wouldn't pay the same. They've got an image to keep up . . . again, like it or not.
It'll only really backfire if Monster and Yamaha (or other factories) decide they don't like it and kick him to the curb. Seems like there's zero chance of that happening.
When Brian drops his truth bomb video
Pit Row
Yeah, I guess it will work until it stops working, right? I just don't like the approach.
If you were to meet my son, you'd probably think he's a lot more like Jo Shimoda than Haiden Deegan. My son will never be a motocross champion, but he'll be a good man.
I can't say that about Haiden Deegen. Not yet.
That’s exactly what it reminded me of. Papa Deegs is making Tony Alessi’s worse day look sane, and I like T Alessi.
I honestly don't know what the factory in Japan will tolerate. With Lechien and Emig, clearly at those points in time drug use was termination of contract. I don't remember everything that went down with JLaw but I think the AMA suspended him for a season, so perhaps it wasn't the factory drawing a line unless they requested it behind the scenes. I really don't recall anyone losing a ride for on track behavior.
I still think without sanctioning body guidelines on what's acceptable we will continue to have a huge grey area with nobody wanting to upset the status quo by taking action.
Actually, in the current climate assholes get paid more. It’s a sad state of affairs.
And it's not really even about trying to take a guy out to win a championship. Many have done that, but somehow in a more respectful way. It's the way the Deegans operate within this spectrum that is just disappointing. Playing victim, whining, perpetuating drama no matter how cringe. It's corny as fuck and people are starting to get more and more sick of it. I can't speak for everyone, but I would be stoked to see Haiden help rip a win for team USA at MXoN. Instead, at least up until today, we have this nonsense. Kid needs to get some separation from his dad in reality.
That's funny, almost look like OJ or Dipper boy when that collar bone when snap.
This is how I would imagine Tony Alessi would’ve handled things if there was social media back when Mike was coming thru the ranks 😂😂😂
A friend of mine knows Tony very well, and says he's very hard working, competent, and an all around great guy. He can't fathom how the Tony he knows could possibly be "The Legend Tony Alessi." Just goes to show, otherwise good people can do some nutty stuff when their kids are involved.
Blaming other people/events/tracks/situation for a decision your kid made.
That's all you need to know right there.
I think that the key difference between Tony and Brian is that right, wrong, or indifferent, everything Tony did was based on a genuine belief that it was best for Mike (and Jeff). OTOH, I really feel like everything Brian does is as much about his own pathetic need for attention as it is for Haiden’s benefit.
One is an example of trying to be a good father (even if mistakes were made), the other, a textbook narcissist.
Exactly this. Textbook.
If anything needs re-formatting it's Deegan's brain.
