Only $10 for all 2026 SX, MX, and SMX series.
I’m a big fan of both guys, so this isn’t based on fandom. Statistically, Tom has been better than RJ over that time frame for sure.
But, you’re forced to put $10k on one to best the other on a 450 this weekend at Red Bud and who are you betting on? I’m in on RJ based on what I’m seeing.
TV is a measure of consistency, RJ is all about speed and has a history of making mistakes. It could be said the 450 has seemingly corrected that. Plus, he’s making passes and coming through the field.
I'd go back, that what I said in my first post. Say he has a mediocre 450 season here in the US he won't have many options, since I don't think he'll do much in SX on a 450. Better to move back to Europe and secure a good paycheck and steady ride while his stock is at an all time high.
Lets not count our chickens yet, i cant hear her singing.
Or Andorra. Pretty easy to pay 0 taxes as a European athlete, regardless of nationality. US citizens pay US income tax regardless of residence - we’re the only country on earth that does

I fully agree and I'll add this. People want to say he backed into his 2nd sx title because of the circumstances involving Hampshire and Hammaker. But if we're supposed to throw out "odd" results then Tom gets to throw out Foxborough and he's basically clinched the title before they ever get to SLC.
They're about even. 20 GPs with 3 drops at each (2 motos plus qualifier race). 31 races with 2 drops at each (2 motos outdoors and a qualifier and main at sx). I think the fewer weekends in GPs are what's being referenced?
I think you have your history wrong. Tom said many times it was his dream to race here and also said he was never going back to GPs. Now, it could be the dream didn't turn out to be as wonderful as envisioned, but...
For everyone not reading the whole thread, LeBig says the HRC deal isnt happening
The disrespect for Tom is real. A 450SX championship would indeed be a long shot, but he'd be a top 5 guy in two years no problem, and even better outdoors. That said, i would understand him and the family wanting to go back to a more familiar place.
According to Lewis we have to wait on descisions by Herlings and Gajser. Two of the biggest names are free agents for next year. Cool to see this happening and Vialle being back in Europe definitely is good for the series. He rocked it in the USA for the past three years, you cannot deny that. Most interesting question is if Coenen brothers and de Wolf will get lucrative offers in the GP’s or will make the jump to the AMA to chase their supercross dreams. In the past I saw some takes of Benistant going to Star Racing, but there are no more updates given since.
In MXGP there are free spots at KTM, Husqvarna, Ducati, Yamaha, Honda and Kawasaki factory teams.. only signed factory riders (MXGP Class) I can recall being signed are Febvre, Reneaux and Haarup at Triumph
Full disclosure, I skipped pg 4 of this thread in an effort to catch up on the topics I have any interest in but does anyone have a real explanation why Gajser is out at Honda? Doesn’t make sense to me. He was more than likely on his way to another title before he got hurt. Nothing against TV but I don’t see Honda hiring him for MXGP as an upgrade over a multi-time world champion that still is a title threat. Somebody break it down for me in simple terms for my simple mind! 😎
Yeah letting TG go is wild. Hes elite and "only" 28yrs old. Is HRC going all in on getting the Coenen's? Is it a contact year for them?
Coenen twins signed a two year extension with KTM to stay in MXGP with a third year option to move to the US.
The US option is for 2027...
Not totally true…RJ’s also taken out more riders with dumb decisions on his part than Tom, so there’s that…
Not my opinion, just sharing what was mentioned in a podcast last week "with Gertz(sp?) flailing in mxgp, one has to wonder if the caliber of riders in mx2 when Tom won his two mx2 tiles against Gertz, was subpar"
Geerts just won a quali race against herlings, febvre and coenen. Not sure if you actually follow the series or not, but dont believe everything you hear.
Just looking at racedays/weekends misses about 200+ days a year riders in both series are hard at work. 1 mio in GPs is a paycut vs 1.5 mio in the us. Unless thisusernameisavailable think these guys do all those long days training in Lommel right now because mx is their hobby.
Pit Row
To be fair Colt Nichols beat Jett to a supercross title
I do follow mxgp . Have been for the past 8’ish years. Gertz had 2 flashes of brilliance in mxgp, as I recall. Mxdn 2’ish years ago and the quali you mentioned. Not bagging on Gertz at all and wanted him to win over Tom for mx2 title. Sucks he got hurt during those times. Was expecting more from him in mxgp when he moved up. Probably out at Yamaha after this year.
Not sure if you actually follow the series or not, but dont believe everything you hear. What Geerts just did is break a big toe -and go back to his usual mantra "Man, I can't catch a break".
Tom did great to win two championships here. His great starts and a bit of luck is what got him there. I wouldn’t call the 250 east supercross specialists. I’d call that the entry to 250 supercross. It’s where the guys coming off injury race. He had 3 wins in 3 years, not exactly waxing the field. Why would anyone be hitting the panic button. It’s also a fact that America focuses more on SX than MX, take that however you want. Prado not doing well is many things and most people know that, you’re choosing to listen to the few goons.
Vialle just posted on instagram a video saying he is excited to ride southwick with the 450. I guess it means he is staying
Interesting. Is he playing around or is this to shut down the rumors and confirm hell be back next year on a 450?
Maybe he is doing Southwick next year when it's an off weekend on the MXGP calendar. 😂😂
Anyways, definitely gonna be interesting to watch now how it turns out now..
Yea thats an option too lol
I’m not listening to them. I’m making the point. Supercross is primarily an american sport. And at the moment it’s people that originate from outside of America that are doing better at it than the people that have grown up around it. Deegan being the exception.
Vialle's grandfather said on french website that he wont ride for HRC Honda in Europe next year.
If your counting outdoor wins here, Tom only has 2 outdoor wins in America to Rjs 4 just saying.
Post a reply to: Vialle returning to Europe with HRC?
