A knee brace can never prevent you from twisting your knee. The way it works makes it impossible to prevent twisting. What it does do is provide side to side structural support and prevent hyperextension.

An EVS carbon brace broke my leg when I was 16. Overshot a triple with my feet just a touch too far back on the peg and the brace pushed into my shin and broke it. Didn’t crash at all.
Seems like in our sport mitigating the chance for injury hasn’t really been cracked yet other than good helmets and boots. Maybe chest protectors, but we’re going too fast and the possibilities for the ways we hit the ground are endless. As with my example above, Jett, or Eli as of late, sometimes it’s not even from hitting the ground.

This is exactly my thinking on the topic. Different people can have good reasons to weigh the pros and cons of something like knee braces differently depending on personal circumstances. That's why I cringe when I hear these blanket assertions - he may be dissuading someone who could really benefit from a brace from wearing a brace.
The "he was wearing a brace and got hurt, therefore braces are useless" logic is childishly stupid. I don't doubt that there are pros and cons, but to dismiss them as if there are no pros and then self-servingly gloat when someone gets hurt makes it hard to take the guy seriously or have any respect for him at all.

I don’t give Ryno the benefit of the doubt in knowing this information. And it has been reported before that he doesn’t wear braces (moto academy says). But you may be right.

An asterisk knee brace prevented my left leg from being amputated - my left foot was pointing 180 degrees backwards after my crash, but my knee and femoral artery was protected.
Below my knee brace, my tibia and fibula had a combined 11 fractures.
I will continue to wear knee braces when I ride.
I’ve heard arguments on both sides of the knee brace argument. I personally choose to ride with them and also ski with them as preventive measures.
