they want to call it something other than a “triple” because it is different than a sx triple. SX triples have a LARGE take off and small landing.
they could scoop out the table top and make it a double, they don’t because in many cases it creates an on off jump or some other rhythm thru a particular section.
do you really want an announcer saying “he’s tripling that and that and that and that…”

I thought it was how many gaps you have to clear, 1 gap = double, 2 gaps = triple 3 gaps = quad. Doesn't matter how long the piles of dirt in the middle are.

There is a gap between the take off and the landing of any table top, a gap does not have to be a valley it can also be a plateau that one is trying to sail over or “clear”
On the Instagram pages showing Jetts crash DV would chip in "But was it a triple or a quad?" Then he would fall back and enjoy the show

you use the term “true triple” that’s interesting….almost as if you subconsciously accept the simple fact that a table top with two singles after it or any other variation is actually in fact a quad
The rain can be good for the thumb if the track slows down and it comes to survival mode instead of racing with a bad thumb.
What if there’s a little 6 inch lip of dirt at the end of the tabletop, to encourage going on-off, but then rider X jumps over it? Does that change the equation at all? Inquiring minds would like to know.
Also where do breaking bumps factor into all of this? Like if you over jump a triple and purposely land on a breaking bump, did you ‘quad’ over the breaking bump?
I think the real question is
How many wheelbarrows of dirt did it take to build that section ? And where they 50 or 100 pounders?
