You gotta admit, that’s a pretty tough looking bike. Even the from fender bend is good on this one. Do we really care if it’s a KTM? I like Triumph’s “volt yellow” though 👍
Actually, the bike is a complete copy. I cant believe they used two spoked wheels just like everyone else, and like everyone else they use single shock rear suspension with inverted forks. And dont even get me started on the blatant copy of the handlebars......... I just cant process all this, im going to up my anexity meds and spend some time in my safeplace, you guys carry on.
Can you share the engine pictures again? When I saw them it looked definitely "inspired by" KTM, but the bolt pattern decidedly looked different to me.

It’s not made in the same sand castings but I’d put money on it that it’s a carbon copy of it with their name stamped in it. Obviously the motor mounts are a little different but I wouldn’t be surprised if cams, crank, piston or transmission parts are interchangeable. This is a 2022 250sxf motor.
I wonder if the RC version has a longer swingarm or anything that can be used as homologated parts for a sand setup etc
To me, the whole engine looks very inspired by the ‘22 KTM. All components are in the same place. No other brands share such similarities and certainly a brand new design would not be this close by accident.
The uneven spacing of the clutch cover bolt pattern seems to be identical. Also check out the water pump cover line up in the overlayed image. This doesn’t happen by chance. (pics from @aeffertz ).
For the record, I’m not saying any of this to bash Triumph. It’s just obvious they used the KTM engine in their development of the bike. Nothing wrong with that.

We won’t know for sure until the aftermarket get ahold of one and when you order a piston kit for one and weisco has the same part number listed for all of the Austrian bikes.
What I think happened is they called up KTM and bought the plans to there last gen motor for a few million and ktm agreed as long as they made it just different enough for people not to say it’s a exact replica and now they can say the have there own motor. People saying they aren’t similar or almost identical are Ray Charles or Stevie Wonder.

I'm real keen for this Triumph stuff, but the chain guide mounting looks pretty pitbike... still a pre-production swingarm hopefully and they can cast a proper mounting point in like the KTMs.

^That said, it does look like they used lots of design cues and/or shared parts with KTM. So what? Lots of manufacturers source their parts from the same vendor and/or license manufacturing from each other.
-Yamaha builds Toyota engines.
-The people who blend Suzuki Ecstar oil may be very familiar with the Yamalube formulation.
-Suzuki and Kawasaki famously built bikes for each other in the early 2000s.
I think almost everyone agrees they definitely pulled heavily from KTM's design (I assume due to the team being well versed in that generation engine), and with that picture it does look like the clutch cover has a nearly identical bolt pattern, but it seems like you were saying they would share almost every part when it looks like there are some small differences elsewhere.

Though they did copy the KTM layout and it looks like they share a bunch of parts, there are differences as well. I probably went too hard on the “KTM copy” line.
For the sake of comparison, did the RM250 and YZ share a lot of parts when Suzuki did the YZ clone motor? Or were they just close enough without parts sharing?

Tell that to Triumph
They are both designed in Europe so it isn't a surprise that it looks more like a KTM engine than a Japanese engine. If you have ever looked at a pre-KTM gasgas (2018 in particular) it looks like they were buying frames from KTM. The Beta frame isn't that different from KTM either. At least Triumph went with an aluminum frame which if done correctly in conjunction with an engine similar to KTM could make this the lightest 250f.
Does anyone know if Triumph will have two injectors?
Sweet, if they are borrowing from the KTM 250 motor design philosophy, that should make it easy for them to build us a spring-fork 350!!
