I could just imagine before the start of a race, Kenny kicking his bike for ages and the guy next time him saying "would you like a push mate?"  lol

If KR does well on the Suzuki this could inspire them to do greater development of those models. Certainly it will help sell units for Suzuki if the HEP deal is done.

Nothing but benefits for Suzuki regardless of how he does. As long as he stays healthy and un-injured. There must be no doubt that KR will reap major financial rewards for this move. So many eyes will be on him. I imagine he has worked quite a deal in exchange for the massive exposure he will reward his sponsors with this upcoming year.

KR has done an excellent job of building the hype. He will have to do reasonably well for all of this to really pay off and not be dismissed.

Thanks KR for bringing a great deal of excitement to A1.

You know that they won the MotoGP Championship in 2020. If not even winning the most important motorcycle championship has them „inspired“ to stay in the sport or keep up the development of their GSX-R line, what do you think would a SX championship do? Right, nothing…

Right….

*SX/MX is going to cost them a FRACTION of what Moto-Gp cost them.

*Moto GP bikes cannot be purchased by the public.

it might make more sense to pursue off-road activities than Moto GP at the moment.

That’s true. MX/SX is maybe 5%-10% of the cost, but so is its benefit to the marketing department.

Remember: they were winning in MotoGP and left. They have nothing left of their factory effort in MX/SX at the moment…

It’s just unrealistic that the Suzuki board would decide it’s time to invest a few million bucks into motocross when they just pulled a winning team from the MotoGP championship.

Well apparently Suzuki’s coughing up to cover Roczen’s bonuses as part of the HEP deal.

If that’s true and Roczen goes on a rolll, or wins a championship, then that’s a substantial investment.

If he does well on it though, maybe it doesn't need development after all Smile

Unfortunately, even if he does win and does well generally, I don't think it will make much difference in sales. Consumers just want convenience. And if he does badly, well, I think we know what this place will be like then...

That’s far from an investment in a race team or motorcycle development and there‘s no risk or longtime investment involved.

If Ken wins or podiums on Suzuki it’s great (and cheap) marketing for them and they’re gonna take that bonus money right out of the marketing budget. If not, Suzuki doesn’t spend a penny. Smart move by Suzuki without commenting to anything.

Suzuki's business is selling small cars in Asia and India. MotoGP is very visible to those people in this area, AMA SX not so much. Roczen may have done well on the Suzuki with a full off season of prep, but only a month of prep seems half-assed. Good luck to him and the team.

Well, maybe the KTMs. Probably closer to 8-10lbs heavier. Like someone said earlier that the factories can make it lighter with $$$. I’m cautiously optimistic. I want Ken to do well, just the Suzuki that James, Chad, and Ricky won on seems different than this one (not in a good way).

This bike is better than the one that Ricky, James, Reed AND Ken won on.

On top of that, the best bike is the bike you are most comfortable on, not the one that appears to be the best on paper. The kickstarter definitely is dated at this point but ultimately you should only hope to start your bike once per race.

At this stage on the game, any bike is capable of winning with the right rider, especially a bike with tons of work done to it. If Ken is comfortable, it wouldn’t shock me to see him win on any bike (including the ‘Zuk).

Is it better? The engine is the same, the frame is just different (stiffer i think?). Maybe he will like it better than the older gen RCH bike, maybe not.

It will sure be interesting to follow this. One thing is for sure, we are one week into December and he hasn't started proper testing so he will be behind schedule. The task he and the team has is huge.

With a month to go before the gate drops in Anaheim, I would have to assume that a decision has to have been made by now one way or the other.  A month isn’t a lot of testing time…

I want to hear your defenition of complete update because i work with parts applications every day and i can tell you that almost all parts between around 2011 and 2023 are interchangable. Also complete update in 2016 can't be true? I Googled quickly and after 5 minutes of reserach it was BNG, launch control and a new front brake caliper?

As for the 2018 head update, it wasn't anything major and it was basically the only notable update? 1 hp more it seems, which is decent of course.

I saw a lot of Suzukis pulling hole shots this year, sometimes with multiple Suzukis up front.  So the engine is fine, no matter how old it is

Who's to say he isn't already testing...? He's had a Suzuki for a little bit now so he could have started right away on testing regardless of signing status or PR. If he knew in his head he wanted to go the HEP route id imagine he got to work as soon as the bike showed up.

My bad memory there on my part.

The 250 got the complete motor in 16 and head/intake in 19.

The 450 got head/intake in 18.

Hopefully the Suzuki won’t steer him to the outside line right before he gets passed, like his previous bikes.

It wouldn't surprise me if a company like Rekluse has been designing, testing & is ready to release an electric starter for the Suzuki...especially seeing as Kenny may have already signed with HEP to ride the Suzuki 450. They could run that being an aftermarket part, and HEP being a private team and not an OEM Factory team...right? Help me if I'm wrong here.

You're wrong here.

Folks need to let the kickstart bullshit go already. It will have nothing to do with whether or not he signed with HEP and it will have nothing to do with his race results.

Meh. I don’t know if I’d waste too many posts worrying about The Gallery…

We’ll see how he’s gonna do soon enough.

Besides, a bunch of grown men that not too long ago kick started their bikes are…now…living in a world where the kick-starter is gonna be “the ruin of a rider”…Laughing

That bike is a damn good handling bike and it turns like it OWNS the track. Everyone seems to talk about weight as if KR is going out there on a STOCK bike! Classic! Also….with KR on-board, you can expect to see pllllllenty of “extra-curricular-support” from Japan.

All I know is I’m witnessing a rather lengthy “Kenny Roczen Having Fun Zone” period of time where-by he’s got the most active following on Social Media, BY FAR the most Attention in here and else-where in the Forum Zone…and…ESPECIALLY…with him deciding to ride the Zook…you know…the bike that “hasn’t been changed…AT ALL!! Since 2000-whatever…Blah, blah, blah…”…on a team that’s pretty damn young…and supposedly on a team that a few too many around here under-estimate…so…well, you get the point…?

I’m jus gonna leave it up to Kenny to go out there and rail berms, skip-thru the whoops, whip his ass off…and make the nay-sayers go home and re-think their craziness on a Sunday morning in January…2023…

That 2016 update was interesting. They changed something like 96 parts in the engine. The difference was almost undetectable on the dyno.
