Speculation is that the radiator shrouds on the new model may be longer to prevent taller riders from snagging the tops of their boots on them in corners.

Cant understand that front number plate "wings". Those are trying to protect triple clamps but are 3cm too high? Roost comes from wheel front of you not fall from sky? Same goes ones Husqvarna been couple years. Is there another reason?

KISKA - is the reason. A design studio.

They've been responsible for some of the most gawd awful MC bodywork designs , with very few decent ones, for years now.

I first saw their efforts on BMs. I think BM gave them the 'flick', or maybe BM stopped using them when KTM bought KISKA.

I've particularly hated the trend towards buggerall in terms of side cover designs. I think it first really came in with the 2008 KTMs. Seemingly, they thought it was 'cool' to emulate the rear end of Dakar bikes. And now, it seems most manufacturers have gone down that bloody hole.

The new Radiators shrouds - meh. We'll get used to their appearance, but it won't make then a good, or decent design.

Airflow I would guess. Air gets forced down towards the radiator wing that directs the air into the radiator?

Playing with the Kids Woohoo

That's a dangerous game!

I was a member of Lower Mountains MCC. And, by the time I'm referring to, I'd already largely switched to Enduros. Even back in the 70s and 80s you soon realized you got a whole lot more bang for your buck in terms of riding time over doing just MX, by doing Enduros.

But, I'd still do some club MX, with my 4t /2t hybrids. I'd do the Trail Bike (rego'd) class, 250 and Open. And, often the 125s ( officials were realists, I and others, were not going to blitz anyone with our 'bigger' bikes) with my 'fire breathing ' Whistling RM/XR, or CR/XRs. The 125 races were the ones I'd finish furthest back in, as it was populated with very fast, somewhat psychotic youngsters. Lower Mountains was the biggest MX related club for many years. Shedloads of 'guns' were in the club, and so many other club riders came to our events - we were good at turning a blind eye to the then ACU's idiotic, One Rider, One Club edict. That rule, was truly archaic.

We had 2 notable 'youngsters' coming through, in the early 80s, by the names of Craig Dack and Glen Bell. And they were somewhat above the other (still, many blazingly fast) kids.

So, they took to letting those 2 ( well, mainly Dack), ride their 80s in a few races with the big bikes to give them a little bit of a challenge..... I, and a fair few others, rapidly got used to being blitzed (and, sometimes lapped) by a kid on an 80 in 6 lap race.

I think that's a pretty standard tale most of us can tell, just different names, different places.

Your note about the "14 year old with a Beer Gut":

Have you noticed - not at races, MC kids are active - but say, at the shops, how many Chubbie Kids and Teenagers there are nowadays? Good grief, we're in for torrid time in the future with regards to health. I've got a bit of ( but still not good enough) an excuse, being in my 7th decade, and on a stick / crutches, which has slowed me right down with regards to exercise, thus putting on kilos, but the 'blimp' factor among youngsters is a bloody worry, that's for sure.

We should be about a month away from the official press release of the bikes?

The back of the side plate, and the fact it's one piece, looks better (and that's from an owner of a current gen Husky, no denial here), but the front of it (shock end) looks crazy scooped out, I'm sure it isn't physically but it's a little flimsy looking / skeletal for me haha.

Nice find on the vid though. Shame they couldn't just pan to the right a bit, huh?

Odd, not on mention of anything related to actual performance upgrades... only plastics. Maybe you guys need to head here: https://www.tupperware.com/

Can't exactly make out its potentially improved performance from it sitting in the pits can you?

People already know it has updated swingarm and linkage, a new cylinder head at a minimum on the 250s and 350s, TBI on the 2 strokes, ally subframe on the Huskys, that's all performance and has been covered, so I don't really get what you're trying to say man?

The fender looks aerodynamic?

Jokes aside, is that an aluminum sub frame under the fender?

I think KTM is torn on making a front fender that looks good vs an aerodynamic one. Either way, they have yet to make one that looks good (imo).

When your bike is that good, you don’t need to change a lot, just minor updates, plastics, and bng.

Principally it's a pretty well proven design elsewhere in high performance bikes as well as cars.

It's proven to be shit in the KTM 250/350. It goes slack when the bike is turned off resulting in loads of cam chain slap noise when restarted until it rebuilds oil pressure. It is a common issue and replacing it with an aftermarket tensioner is very common.

Yep, this is how the Dirt Tricks aftermarket one is that many people put on KTM's. You'd have thought KTM would have caught on to this after so many years. It's one of life's great mysteries.

I believe that large bulge in the pipe is a sign from God that we should all go back to 2-strokes.

A lot of KTM parts have familiar manufacturer markings or at least VERY similar processes to VW/VAG parts, which checks out given SKF and other "local" suppliers to them both are probably the same (the parts that aren't physically made at KTM's factory), way different from typical Jap stuff from Yamaha/Toyota/etc... not saying either is better, just distinctive.

VW do have the failsafe in the OEM tensioners so agree entirely it's super weird KTM aren't on it. It should not retract once extended and be a replaceable item when doing the timing chain.

Anyway, for the 2 Stroke huskus at least, list of 'known' performance upgrades besides looks for keep matey happy:

Big swingarm change
Revised linkage
Revised rear shock (apparently previous won't fit)
Clearly gonna be fork revisions (apparently previous CV's will fit)
Aluminium subframe
Different airbox, way less sealed off than before
Throttle Body Injection on MX models

No new info there, just what's been in the thread. KTM no doubt the same bar them already having an ally subframe.

It's been said a few times over the last 7 pages by folks who seem to know what they're talking about, I don't know and have zero info hence the air quotes, just a summary of what has been seen or what people in here have said is coming.

Maybe on the SX bikes. No way they are dumping TPi for TBi on enduro bikes. Wouldn’t pass Euro 5. It would be a step backward.

TBI on a few of the Factory Enduro and Hard Enduro bikes : what better way to sort out EFI for use in 2Ts that don't require Euro 5 certifucation?

I'd say it's development for SX's and XCs.

Most markets, and the Highest sales of 2Ts for the KTM group, need that Euro5 compliance, and I doubt that TBI would acheive that.

TBI won’t pass Euro5. So you know what that means right?

The front fender is the same since 2015.5 factory edition. Odd that KTM has not made a change after this many years.

Please, God, no.

No way in hell do I want any kind of injection on motocross 2-strokes. Totally defeats the point of owning a 2-stroke for MX - low cost, light weight, easy maintenance.

I can *sorta see the point for off-road where ease of tuning is important and absolute outright power is not so much. But for MX, there is no point to injecting a 2-stroke. Don't be afraid of some carb brass. The settings are all figured out.
