I was somewhere on that track when this pic was taken. Probably pretty far behind these two!

GSS was stacked in the mid-end of '70s into the '80s. Local races were packed then. GSS had qualifiers for 125, 250 and Open classes with as many racers they had if I remember right.

Great during the SX boom. Drive to a GSS and try making more in Pro purse and generous contingency then.

That Gorman GSS race in '96 I think Nick Wey won 125's in his first Pro race; also raced 250's.

Sure great times and thanks CMC.

Hey Sondra! That's great to see. Tell pops Ian Fitz-G said, hey! and thanks for all the good times! Saddleback, Carlsbad, Sunrise and Ascot....then repeat. The double points races in rainy Zion National park and Otay,. "Robot", "Pistol" Pete and punk-rock Dave E. I certainly miss those days pops made possible! Also, I would've never raced any of those bitchin-ass tracks all around CA if not for him...and you. Your family is responsible for a shit-load of people having a shit-load of fun. I always smile when I see Stu's well-deserved plaque at Glenn Helen's "Walk of Fame!" Cheers to you all!

BTW, he looks great! How can you be that old without wrinkles?

Us amateurs got rained out on Saturday. We were moved over to the warm up track on Sunday. The Pro track looked awesome once it dried out a bit.

Wow, I just saw this.

Stu Peters dropped the starting gate for more great riders than anyone in the world.

Back when I started, everyone who was serious about moto rode CMC races every weekend either at Carlsbad or Saddleback.

Sure wish they were around today running races around here...

The time Payton bet Goat Breker he would't win the 500cc GSN Series overall. The bets were pretty funny.

Weird how I retained virtually nil from high school yet I can still recall laughing reading that in our library at school.

GSS was the best preseason series MX around from the '70s thru at least the '90s to participate in or spectate factory, support and top local Pros and upcoming Amateur prospects.

Thanks CMC and the Peters family for promoting high quality Pro and Amateur GSS racing for so long. It was a blast.
