Depends what era and what country ;-). I did back in the ‘80’s/90’s era in England. Reflecting back I’m pretty proud of that as at the time half the national field in the UK were also GP point scorers - this was during the Dave Thorpe 3 World titles era. I do remember the first 250 national I qualified at, sitting on the gate before the first moto looking up & down the line and realizing a handful of those guys had won at least one GP and half the field were GP runners and thinking to myself “well I...

6/1/2026 2:24pm Yep. I rode it, though, and I thought it was pretty good. But for DT, coming off an RC500, and also having crankshafts break (which had plagued the Kawasaki 500 for a few years) won’t have done David’s confidence much good.

5/26/2026 10:07am GP tracks are largely shit. Sure, they build nice jumps (sometimes) but far too many of them. And the jump builders (I can’t call them track builders) give ZERO thought to layout, shape of corners and creating passing opportunities. Split lanes and humps on the inside of turns are just a neon sign that they have no idea.

5/25/2026 12:10pm I believe the ‘Vet’ track (what was the ‘REM’ track) is the site of the original ’Arroyo Cycle Park’ track from the seventies. REM ceased to be a thing when promoter Frank Thomason retired. ‘Saturday at the Glen’ is the reincarnation of REM with a new promoter. Regular GH riders please correct me.
