Saying things like ‘I love the haters’ etc etc only brings them out more.

He has toned down the rhetoric towards the end of this season as he’s realized the Lawrence’s are a couple levels up from him currently.

Will be interesting to see how he handles a 450 in SX.

So he invited being shit on over a rumor he didn’t start?  Or does he just automatically get shit on for everything, true or not, and it’s justified in some way, e.g. “he brought this on himself”?

The MXoN is just a shuffled up MXGP race without the US.  My opinion is the promotor should fund the US Teams coming.  Not pay them, but pay for the travel and expenses etc.  That would free up the funds from the teams to add bonuses to riders and hopefully send our best.

Matthes is stuck in the 80s with his view that the US is the biggest drawcard at the MXDN. Those days are long long long gone.

Nonsense. Team USA and anyone based in America is a draw.

It is often the only time we see riders from MXGP and the Nationals on the gate each year!

God does anyone understand nuance?  His whole persona invites it. He doesn’t invite it in every case but his entire brand is about creating drama either love or hate.

Even if it’s just a rumor, the Deegans always talk about “growing the sport,” and sometimes that means actually giving something back. He really needs to go this year unless he’s truly hurt, because the last few years are filled with excuses and it's starting to look like a pattern. He wants to get paid, sure, but he could likely easily make up the difference with social media, merch, and fan goodwill that it infers greed if doesn't go without a bonus or pay. If he skips again, the backlash might hit hard with more of the neutral fans, and it may be right up there with the whole “RIP Jett” thing and the clowning won’t stop and continue.

I'd argue that if Deegan is the one who pushes the federations or promoters to pay the riders he would have done more than his part to grow the sport here in this situation

Nuance would be understanding that it is a person’s choice to engage in the rhetoric, it is a person’s choice to hate or dislike a rider. We are all in control of our own emotions. Saying Deegan brings it on is a cheap cop out for having a shitty attitude and not controlling your own emotions.

It would be my guess that Deegan’s antics have very little consequences in most of our lives, and expending so much energy like some do is not the fault of Deegan’s, but their own.

Like Cooksey said, Deegan is riding a dirt bike, he’s not splitting atoms.

MXGP doesn’t pay purse money either. F1 doesn’t pay purse money.

If everyone thought they were getting such a raw deal they wouldn’t participate.

"Do you think the IOC is some altruistic organization?"

What's your point, because I think you missed mine.

Say what you will about this race but the 2 x defending champs won’t have their top riders there. The country has only won this event twice. They said they would be healthy scratches. No one misses Round 1 of SX, MX or MXGP as healthy title threats.

If they were paid, I have a feeling this would be the off season race they attended. It certainly is not a charity race for Infront.

That’s not what I was saying at all.

Pointing out that Deegan brings it on isn’t emotional at all. It is simply observing how he has built his brand. Which is through fervent supporters and haters and playing into that space.

He’s controversial because he wants to be. His brand is built on it.

Surgery is why Webster won’t be there.  The Lawrence’s have said multiple times that it isn’t just about the riders - the crew need a break from the ridiculously hectic schedule too

USA should just run a similar program to Australia - ask who wants to come and figure it out from there!IMG 0640 0

That went right over your head, Mate.

It was directed at the Millionaires that so many say their riders are - as in usually, the very top US riders.

Well, they are skipping other races to that they would actually get paid to do…

I have been a fan of the MXDN since the 70's...but I also feel that we are asking the riders to take a huge risk that they basically have to pay out of pocket to attend but receive little to nothing for the risks that they take. It's time that the promoters and the manufacturers start paying these guys through bonuses and prize money....it is really ridiculous that we are asking professional riders to basically rider for free or literally costing them money to go....the MXDN is the pinnacle professional MX race that pays less than winning as an amateur at LL...

How much do athletes at the olympics get paid.? There's no doubt it's expensive to send a team to the MXDN but there was never an issue with cost or rider enthusiasm when that long unbeaten streak was going on, and team USA were coming over once a year and kicking butt at a canter.. The euro riders had about 2 decades of getting soundly beaten but you never heard any of them complaining about the cost or saying "yeah well, it's not that important anyway..." 🙄

This week in his Observations column he mentioned Deegan wanting a bonus for winning or podium, and how the AMA doesn’t have that kind of money. Meanwhile Star is doing the 50k per bike deal.

This brings up some interesting points. Should the manufacturers emphasize the MXDN and push riders to participate? For a one off race weekend it really puts out the numbers.

Personally I think it would be awesome if the sponsors and OEMS kicked in. The problem being the smaller countries won’t have a chance. Thoughts?

Deegandashian wanting payment for the MXDN is a disgrace.

US Olympians get paid $37,500 for gold, $22,500 for Silver and $15,000 for bronze. This does not include anything the may receive from sponsors and donors...It's time for the MXDN promoters to step up to the plate and pay these riders...they are not amateurs and when almost every amateur sport pays more than the MXDN, a professional race, it becomes abundantly clear that the promoters are nothing but greedy...Infront should be paying but they won't ( this has zero to do with Deegan and is long overdue). And for the asshole promoter that takes 100% of the profits and gives nothing back to the sport tells you exactly where their interests lie, they are just using these riders and this race for a huge payday for themselves....

MXGP top 5 are getting paid okay, shit for a risk sport like moto - only one or two are over one million Euros not including personal sponsors.

Lower than that they are making what a construction tradesman makes or worse .

Lots of guys buy their team rides as well, so zero dollars to ride the bike, only personal sponsorship money keeps them afloat.

If it’s not about Deegandashian why is it starting with Deegandashian?

Please stop, this conversation will ruin your reputation.

Nobody is going to agree the multimillionaire wanna-be rap influencer still needs start & bonus money to attend a race EVERYONE else is proud to race. It’s about your country and the sport.

I thinking this Deegandashian drama is just this years excuse to dodge the race. The super fast Euros are just waiting to smoke his ass and Deegandashian knows it.

Way better to dodge it and make another Tik-Tok video about your new prison tat…

The MXoN is just a shuffled up MXGP race without the US.  My opinion is the promotor should fund the US Teams coming.  Not pay them, but pay for the travel and expenses etc.  That would free up the funds from the teams to add bonuses to riders and hopefully send our best.

Yes, a purse for the teams seems like a decent way to share revenue between the promoters and the entertainers.

My opinion has zero to do with Deegan every rider should be paid or the opportunity to be paid in a professional MX race...I'm sorry you don't think professional riders should be paid to race...you probably are against old pros racing at LL too....Again just to get it through your thick scull....I Think ALL Riders in the MXDN Should be paid either through race bonuses from manufacturers, sponsors and from the promoters who are using patriotism for their profit...You are bringing Deegan into this not me...

VitalMx——riders need to be paid more money…

Also VitalMx—-it’s a disgrace for a rider to ask for money to race..

And maybe…uhm….if one rider gets paid to race...ah..maybe others would get paid too.

Too many folks on VitalMx have hurt feelings over Deegan..obviously clouds their thinking.

The amount of adults who are so bent out of shape about everything that comes from their camp makes me laugh and I'm not even a big fan or anything. I can just see how sad and small it makes everyone who doesn't stop ranting look.
