Sponsored/Wrenched for couple NorCal locals, best was Nat. #851 and #85 in 2000, Scott Davis. Steve Edwards as an Int then local Pro 87/'88.
Did photos for a Modern Cycle '77 Sears Point Trans-AMA edition, couple of CN write ups from the old Plymouth track same yr as well as rider and race local/Pro photos. Few E street CN race reports as well.

TheTrans AMA/National/local race track was at the north part of the facility just off the big 180 at the far end of the road course. I don't recall them ever allowing the dirt track to go over the road course for a professional or local event, but it was used for the pro pits. The Bobby trolling and bashing here aside, Bob was really good, just really breaking out he lost his leg. I personally think he was faster than Donnie Cantaloupi, and that Bob would have been a solid pro in the early 80s with top five championship potential. Believe he finish second one moto in 250 support at Sears in 78 besting a lot of top guys. Hard to beat how thick the Socal scene was, but there was a lot of talent hitting local races in the NorCal in the 70s to hone the talent. I did not know Bob then...

Roczen's has a lot of miles and injuries on him since that bad SX crash San Diego(I think) several yrs ago. Started this season in both series out great, but couldn't sustain top results. 450 SX is the only major title Ken hasn't won that I recall. Maybe Honda's giving him one last shot at Supercross before Jett likely takes his seat in SX next season. JMO.

FTE, it was that end of '78 season HS or CC D-36 held in horrendous conditions, muddy n windy, yes and I tried and left as well. Changing brands could refresh a riders outlook vs changing a title winning bike and it's characteristics and with it, losing that sweet n confident feel only the team riders know. Not willing to take risks of past seasons until that feel returns. Webb might win the next race since being posted on Vital too. Hasn't been getting the good starts...

GSS was the best preseason series MX around from the '70s thru at least the '90s to participate in or spectate factory, support and top local Pros and upcoming Amateur prospects. Thanks CMC and the Peters family for promoting high quality Pro and Amateur GSS racing for so long. It was a blast.
