Honesty there was no bad place to shoot from at Sears, all the features were really photogenic.  The issue was avoiding shadows in the early setting sun of late November when you had slow film and slow lenses (the glory of high ISO modern digi rigs).  It was wonderful shooting those golden hour motor.

Also, for 77, I had wrenched for a pro friend that year at Hangtown and Plymouth and - confession here - used the old High Point pit pass holder with some colored paper to look legit, jumped to the infield, and did my best to stay away from any official looking dude who might take a close look and boot me back over the fence.

No bad bumps, just a few better ones!  Almost 12 years later and this thread still delivers.  Thanks BobbyM and FTE.  These pics and stories personify what the outdoors should be.  I miss this series badly and it has been almost 40 years.  Got to attend the Unadilla rounds late '70's up till the series' demise.  (even the last year with mostly hotshot privateers & locals delivered as it was Unadilla in the fall!)  Shame the powers that be couldn't revamp somehow in lieu of the new SMX series.  Unadilla, HiPoint, RedBud, GH?
