I've looked for that issue of Cycle News in the past as well and I believe it is the October 18th, 1978 issue. I attended the race as a 9 year old-- but boy do I remember it! I was in the section where Hannah and Decoster collided. I've mentioned it many times in some of my posts like "favorite MX memory" and "favorite Unadilla memory" and similar. I was in the section with my brother, my Dad and my Uncle. My Dad was recording on 8mm- and unfortunately with 3 minutes per roll you filmed sparingly those days... Still...

maybe I wasn't nuanced enough. but if vialle leaves the US his 2 regional titles wont really be remembered. if he captured a national title it would be much more significant. many fans have been begging for the 250 SX class to get rid of the regions and become a true championship and actually means something.

Privateer hero Jan Pancer had the ride of his life in the first MXGP moto, holding second place until the last 3 minutes. I got to check out his bike at their modest rig after the first moto, and his KTM 450 SX-F appears to be almost completely stock, including the OEM wheels and clamps with only suspension and a Factory Akro pipe. Great vid, sick bike. He is definitely a good dude. Raised right for sure, he has a healthy perspective on life for someone his age. I got to spend the day with him at Cahuilla a few years back when we were doing promo shit for the brace I made. We rented the track and had it to ourselves, was cool to spin laps out there with those dudes. I was on my yz250 and Coty was hyped on them then.
