My understanding is that the main reason modular reactors aren’t viable in the US is because of legacy permitting and regulation laws that were put in place during the Carter administration that essentially treat all nuclear plants equally regardless of size. The creates huge red tape hurdles to jump through that can take 10 years or more and really aren’t applicable to the modern modular style reactors. Regardless, it’s hilarious to me that just last summer we were all being warned about how the power grid just can’t handle the additional load of running your AC when it’s 110 out...

Is it really though? People are sick of getting blasted with fake personalities, ads, AI, and all other sorts of bullshit 24/7, the marginal returns are diminishing on this type of marketing real fast. Part of the reason this SX season was one of the most memorable ever was you had two honest, real, and respectful champions going at it to the end without having to manufacture fake hype or resort to dirty riding. People are craving authenticity and the culture seems to be shifting away from this type of stuff as far as I can tell.

I think it was smart of Deegan to have the attitude of coming into his first 450 MX race to learn. Jett came into his first 450 MX race to teach. That semester in 2023 was crazy...

On a positive note our grandson and the 7 year old neighbor kid we invited (who just got his first bike and was at his first MX race of any kind) had an absolute blast. Walking around for 3 hours after the race was over was just an extra added bonus for them. The neighbor kid is super enthused, it was fun to see him get to check out a bunch of stuff he wouldn’t have had we not been stuck there. Like him standing on the starting line and imagining he was in the race, throttle and clutch hands...

Wanted to bump my own thread and update it with that I finally put in my first offer on a house today! It took me a long time to find anything that really felt like it fit me, but the one I did put an offer in I can’t find one thing bad to say about it. The house is smaller, but it’s just me and a cat so that doesn’t really bother me, I’ll spend the majority of my time in the garage or kitchen anyway, Less shit to keep clean too.
