Trump’s $5K Promise. Dividend or Vote Buying?

Yah I doubt that this will happen .  People would rather argue over what they are calling the proposed payment or its legality.

But I think that most people do not really think there is a strong chance of it happening.

Its kind of like the lottery when you buy a ticket Your really buying the chance to dream about winning and know the chance of winning is really slim and unlikely.  It made me wonder about something.

According to some AI calculations using AI provided info

If Trump went to Vegas and literally placed a bet on Republicans holding the majority and he bet $338,461,539.00  that they will and won, at the current odds ( 7/2 ) it would make enough to pay back the money he bet, and pay everybody the $5K .

That’s awesome that your folks did that. To me the 5k is no different than Biden saying he would cancel college debt. If it even happens, no one is forced to take the money, but if it’s dropped into my account I’ll take it and won’t give it a second thought. I’d like to see all my kids get a bump as well.

I doubt it will happen , and I wasn't for the Biden version either.  I thought it sent the wrong message and hurt the people who had been smart with money and had already paid of their loans or never had a loan to begin with.

We have all seen how past stimulus checks have done more to increase inflation than just about anything else other than the Iran war and the tariff's.

Its not being done to help the economy, its being done to help a political party at the cost of the economy.

Take away the short term benefit of getting the money that I'm sure all of us would have a use for.

What about the long-term impact?  adding to the debt, more than likely cause inflation  to rise , short term product shortages with price increases.

It is expected to cost $1.2 T

The amount paid out by SS tin retirement benefits  over the entire 2025 was $1.32T

Total payroll  tax's  collected $1.77T   (roughly 34% of all taxes and fees collected)

Total Corporate income taxes $452B

Seems wild to be giving back so much when You look at how much it is relative to other areas and how it will be a negative impact long-term.

I don’t believe it’s going to happen.

So your saying that somebody can disagree with something Trump is saying or doing, and it doesn't automatically turn them into a blue haired liberal socialist? Imagine that.

So how much are the socialists offering  in  return for a vote?

And what magical Socialist policies are some of the  ones You worry about being implemented ?  I have not been watching the news or paying attention  enough to have seen what they are running on doing.  The democrats I've heard have not talked about either .

I guess what I do not like about socialism is that while I go out and work hard so that I can provide for my family and we can have a nice home and nice things while some lazy fucker that doesn’t even try is going to benefit from the fruits of my labor. And in the end we both end up in poverty because that is what happens in socialism. If I am wrong, please provide an example of a successful socialist country.

"The forest was shrinking, but the trees kept voting for the axe, for the axe was clever and convinced the trees that because his handle was made of wood he was one of them".

It is definitely interesting to see the verbiage used amongst some of us. It's always a comparison of extremes.

I suspect many more good, hard working Americans will be entering their poverty era before the looming socialist takeover you're scared of happens. We have a lot of uncomfortable truths to reconcile as a nation.

How do you define a successful country?

You know who didn’t redistribute wealth from the government? Mandani. A vote for Trump is a vote for communism!

The government can’t give you anything it does not first take from somebody else. In socialism, the producers get tired of working so hard and having so much taken away that they start producing less and less. Then there is less to spread around. Eventually everyone is in poverty.

Well over half the US federal budget supports “socialism” in the form of Social Security, Medicare, unemployment benefits, and other health-oriented programs. Which begs the question:  will those who firmly oppose socialism refuse to accept those benefits once eligible?

While the programs above could be classified as socialism, they also reflect the values of a compassionate society. We don’t extract an extraordinary fee from the most successful citizens (in fact, tax laws permit the opposite), but we do support those less fortunate. Admittedly each program has flaws but their overall benefit far outweighs the negatives. So we’re all a bit socialistic.

I would refuse to accept those benefits when eligible if it wasn’t my money that I just want back. Let me opt out of SS years ago and I would have much more money than I’ll get back. Let me not lose my insurance and then be forced in to astronomical premiums and deductibles because of Obama care and I’d skip Medicare.  I’ve been paying for other peoples insurance for years now. Socialists programs have put me here.

If you haven’t figured out yet you were a slave since you were born regardless of who you vote for you haven’t been paying attention. You get ownership papers/tags and a # the day you’re born and only when you die are you removed. Every dollar you earn is taxed every dollar you spend is taxed. Have any left over? Somebody else gets taxed.
You spend your entire life producing goods or services so your fellow slaves can provide their tax. You’re sold the belief that you’re free but you’re not you just have more permissions than other slaves elsewhere.  It gets worse.

Life’s a bitch and then you die.

The Chinese have done well with socialism, a billion people lifted out of poverty, it's not perfect, but that's a big achievement.

Incidentally, China is in many ways more capitalistic in terms of the economy than America.

Don’t get me wrong though, not in every way.

China is an authoritarian one-party capitalist state, nothing "socialist' about it. By original definition it's textbook fascistic.

All the dummies in the world believe "fascism" is not liking 3rd world crime and destruction imported into former civilzed coiuntries. That's the IGNORANCE talking, but whaddya ecxpect from generations educated by TV and fecesbook, eh?

And don't forget, China was medieval uintil Clinton, the Bushes and Obama exported the entire US manufacturing economy to the land of child slave labor and eating anything that moves. And shitting in the streets.

Last few times I was in Beijing, we stayed in the Hilton a block from Tiananmen Square. Two blocks the other way, street vendors were selling crispy cockroaches and scorpions on sticks. Little mini bug kebabs. Dee-lish! 5000 years of kull-chur!

You ever been to China?

Retorical question. You can't find it on a map I bet. Considering you live in China South, that's lame.

How are you doing financially now VS when Biden was in office?    You don't need to even answer  just questions to think about.

I'm not saying I loved Biden or that   I am for socialism.  But I think as long as we pay taxes its not crazy to expect something in return.  Not everything provided by taxes is bad, but it could all be described as a form of socialism.

Trump's plan of charging tariffs  and sending out tariff checks is socialism.

I hope that buy now everybody can see that the end buyer ultimately pays the tariff   not the country that it comes from.

Trumps plan of the US government owning an interest in the oil companies  is Communism.

The same could be said about the $5k "Dividend" checks.

What You fear is what  Trump has been doing and saying he wants to do if Republicans hold the majority.

Out of all of the Socialist plans You have heard Democrats pitch, how many cost the same or more than   Trumps $1.2 T  idea of handing out $5K checks? for a single one time thing?   And how likely do You really think those things have a chance of Trump signing off on them happening?

What is most likely going to happen is if Democrats do gain the majority,  both Trump and the elected Democrats will have to work together to get anything done.  Unless they have  a crazy strong majority he can veto whatever they vote in. And they can not vote in what he wants.

The democrats ( people in an elected office or running for office ) I've heard  talking about what they would do are all saying that they will  have to work with Trump so they can get stuff done.  Now I'm sure there are some crazies.  But they exist in both parties so You really  should not judge an entire party based on the minority.

Going to right leaning media to hear what Democrats true messaging is , would be like asking an ex girlfriend that you had a bad breakup with  to list your strengths. And the same thing the other way.  Wanna hear some of the bad stuff democrats  want, watch Fox . Wanna hear the bad stuff Republicans want, watch MSNBC .  Put all the info together and You'll have more of the full picture.

If You only consume information that You agree with or confirms what you thought, You will never learn.  Which I guess that's fine if that's what you want.

Holy shit.....I kinda thought it was that high, but I under remembered.

Somewhere out there is an economic principle, or concept or whatever it is.... if a country spends more than xx% on social welfare programs, it will eventually implode. I seem to remember that was around 30--32%.

The UK is well over 50% and has been bankrupt since the 1970s but refuse to admit it. Now, add several million illegals to the Free Shit Army, and the UK economy  -- in fact the country -- is collapsing on live TV.  But hey..... the Royal Navy has 26 ships and 125 admirals 🤣

If it's over 50% in the US, we're not far behind. Best squirrel away those silver coins and freeze-dried survival food!   Oh.... and ammo, of  course. PLENTY ammo!

Problem with the "compassionate society" idea is, there are lots of crooks who exploit it. Also, "benefits" for the wrong reasons will eventually destroy the progarms.

CLASSIC example is the US military "veteran" system. Probably the single most abused welfare system in the country.

The dipshit Graham Platner, the 85-IQ "oysterman" who is trying to jump on the politician gravy train in Boston, is  very proud of his status as a "100% disabled veteran" and is milking the system for every penny.

Besides the monthly SALARY of several $1000 he gets from YOUR and MY tax dollars for being "100% disabled", we all paid for nhis house, the edumacation he attempted but was to fucken dumb ro complete, and his 100% free medical benefits.

Does this scumbag look "100% disabled" to you? He's a fat fuck and dumb as a pipe wrench, but he's not disabled. Well....intellectually and mentally he is, but that's not why he's in the Free Shit Army.

graham-platner-nazi-tattoo

THIS is 100% disabled. Actually, even Hawking was maybe 80%. Feel free to correct me, but 100% disabled would be a BLOB, no?

stephen-hawking-pbs

Who calculates the %?

I had a colleague who was an ex-USAF cargo pilot and later airline pilot. He was very proud of being "29% disabled" and makin' coin from having TINNITUS.!  He'd been around jet aircraft for 30 years,,,, gee, who woulda thunk?

Come to think of it, the vast majority of ex-military people I've known and worked with, were "disabled" to some %. IE, cashing in on the Free Shit.

IE, YOUR and MY taxes.

And that's not even touching the topic of the leftist states pissing away BILLIONS in free shit to ILLEGAL INVADERS. Or the BILLIONS of fraud committed by same.... need I mention Minnesota and what? $19 BILLION in Medicare fraud by the 140 00 Somalis in that state?

Pop quiz, hotshots..... where's the line between "compassionate society" and the Free Shit Army draining a country's GDP?

And what has all that got to do with "socialism"?

Well it has been doing just that in a way. That's how they operate at a deficit.

And the rest of this is more of a general post rather than anything directly in response to your post.

Its  crazy to look at the budgets over the years  and see how it almost doubled in 2020 from covid   after staying around 3.5 to 4T the previous 10 years. and its just kept going up. How are we spending  almost $1T more now than during Covid?  I would think that the 2022 or 23 budget would have been less than peak handing out of money.  Even with any proposed cuts for 2027, Trump is still asking for more.

And that the 2026 deficit is more than the entire budget was in 2000.

Its scary to see how much spending keeps increasing.  I don't know that I really needed to learn all of that. But it sure makes me feel like i need to make a lot more money if expenses gonna keep climbing like this.
