People talk about RC being a 15 time champion and that does not include his regional titles. They are racing a shorter series with less competition.

I love how you glossed over the sponsors caring. You know, the ones who pay the salaries and help fund the race series we all love 🤣

maybe I wasn't nuanced enough.  but if vialle leaves the US his 2 regional titles wont really be remembered.  if he captured a national title it would be much more significant.

many fans have been begging for the 250 SX class to get rid of the regions and become a true championship and actually means something.

Not making a political statement, but taxes are MUCH higher in western Europe, especially if moving from Florida.... The company I work for has a lot of European employees and I have seen the numbers over the years.  Someone making $1m in the US could take home as much as $200k more per year than someone making $1M in Europe, depending on the country you are comparing to.  Healthcare costs in the US would be a small expense for these guys on a percent of income basis, less than $1k per month for an ACA plan (assuming they are allowed to sign up for those)

There’s a reason a lot of the big athletes in Europe live in Monaco.

Vialle is certainly not at the level of Febvre, Coenen, Tiga, Herlings, he'd be far better off as DB says, same as Justin Cooper do some of the 450SX championdhip, prepare early for the outdoors and become AMA 250 outdoor champion

Full disclosure, I skipped pg 4 of this thread in an effort to catch up on the topics I have any interest in but does anyone have a real explanation why Gajser is out at Honda?  Doesn’t make sense to me.  He was more than likely on his way to another title before he got hurt.  Nothing against TV but I don’t see Honda hiring him for MXGP as an upgrade over a multi-time world champion that still is a title threat.  Somebody break it down for me in simple terms for my simple mind!  😎

Yeah letting TG go is wild. Hes elite and "only" 28yrs old. Is HRC going all in on getting the Coenen's? Is it a contact year...

Not a contract year for Coenens. According to JT, Gajser was $3m per year. Honda didn't want to pay that. Thought is Vialle is closer to $1m. I'd say whoever Honda has for a 2nd 450 rider in 26 is on a one year deal.

Only one 125 east title for RC.

Until we actually give it some real thought and understand that getting rid of that many salaried rides is a huge mistake.

I disagree. This is supposed to be the cream of the crop. The riders that would be lost would be the guys that are fighting to get into the night show. Look at the 450 class the entire gate is pretty much factory rides.  No one is clamoring my for the 250 MX class to be split in regions to create these jobs and salaries you are so worried about losing if SX got rid of regions. Regional SX is a part time job for 3 months a year.

Nothing wrong with agreeing to disagree.   You'd end up with more young guys burned out,  Epstein Barr, mono would make a comback.

Lets see, 1 year 450 SX/MX deal to stay in the US and try and earn a spot for the next year or take a 450 Honda ride in MXGP? No brainer as I feel he would struggle to make top 15 in 450 SX let alone qualify every week. Look he is a great rider but he needs more time in SX to keep a 450 ride. He will be great instantly in MXGP.

He should take the Honda money and run. Him and Herlings will be a good team. I could see tom missing mains on a 450 here

Missing mains? He's a 2x regional sx champ. He's not lost on a sx track

honestly it ain’t tht far fetched , shit happens 🤷🏾‍♂️ RV missed a main back in ‘11 , hunta missed a main , j coop almost missed a main , now main(s) I can’t see tht happening but I can def see a situation happening where he caught in some mid pack BS & he not ready to overcome tht at the moment

Prado never missed a main and he jumped straight into the 450 class without experience. Had one LCQ though. Vialle has 3 seasons with sx now and 2 titles.

Speed wise he'd be in every 450 main . It would take a freak occurrence to keep him out much like the other riders mentioned.

The talk of him missing mains is crazy. But, I guess we'll never know...

Completely agree....  Probably not top 6-7 speed wise, but his consistency is why he won those 2 titles.  He would qualify around 10th and no issues making mains every week unless an incident caused an issue.

You guys have definitely had too much to drink if you think Tom would miss multiple 450 mains, everyone is acting like he’ll get worse once he gets on the 450 but his style looks like it would actually translate really well, a certain kind of patience is huge on the big bike and Tom has that in spades

One thing about this situation confuses me - JT has said a couple of times on various podcasts that Vialle moving to the 450 for 2026 was not in KTM’s or anyone’s plans.

If so I have to ask what was the plan?  Surely his expectations were to win 250MX straight away and he wasn’t just racing 250SX for the fun of it.  This is his third year here on the 250; if he had won at least one or maybe two MX titles by now in addition to his SX titles where was he expecting to go?

According to the latest LeBigUSA podcast, KTM offered Tom a one-year deal, but I assume the salary wasn’t great (maybe they blew the budget signing Tomac?). Tom asked for more money, and they said no. They also mentioned that he has multiple other offers (they didn’t say US or Europe), and it seems like he’s going with HRC MXGP.

As for his performance on the 450, we’ll soon find out what he’s worth since he’s going to race Paris Supercross and WSX Australia against Roczen, Tomac, and Webb.

But if he goes back to mxgp and does well on the 450 , there is no reason why he can’t come back as he has experience in supercross so it shouldn’t be too much of a hassle to get in the top 5!

Yeah, but aren't like 70% of Ferrari's red anyway? It's one of the things they are famous for.

Vialle and Herlings will be a solid team. Tom would be crazy to not take an HRC multi-year offer.

458s are amazing, but give me that 488 Pista or SF90XX and I'd be an extremely happy man!
