FMF must of not of lasted very long. MotoGP website "The Race" journalist Simon Patterson just inquired on his Twitter feed all past and present energy drink sponsors involved in racing Iassume MotoGP) when wondering what happened to the one FMF was suppose to be local and mini market stores early 2010's. Patterson had a some I never heard of or maybe Euro branded.

If I recall correctly Red Bull threw a fit about FMF banners at the races they sponsor.

That is a monumental thread bump, but I get the relevance.
At least it wasn't a cryptocurrency I guess.

Red Bull never threw a fit about FMF banners even when they had an Energy Drink.

Never heard that , but Kawasaki had to take the fmf stickers off their exhaust on the factory monster sponsored team. (2014 I believe when they didn’t run pc exhausts)

If I remember correctly Kawasaki got a test bike back from a magazine that had an FMF pipe on it. Out of curiosity they put the bike on a dyno to see what the numbers were. It was quite a few hp more then the PC pipe put out, something like 3-5 more hp. I guess Fisher pushed for the pipe to be used on the bikes but PC’s contract included the teams 450 bikes too..That’s pretty much all I heard about the ordeal.

I was just reading an old Racer X from 06, had an article on the energy drinks in the sport.

Red Bull
Monster
Rockstar
Unbound
Sobe No Fear
BooKoo

I’m sure I’m forgetting some, but you’d have to love lighting money on fire if you’re going after those top three these days. They own the market.

And FWIW, those Sobe Gold cans were fucking good.

I have 2 cans at home still I believe, unopened. They were giving them away somewhere as I never saw it for sale in my midwest area. But yes, there was a big to do as stated above about them and Monster. I believe Lil Donny probably had more to do with trying to branch out than Big Don.

FMF sent one to me when they debuted. Forget why I got one, but I really like the taste of them compared to the others. FTR, I have never liked the monster flavors. FMF wasnt overly sugary tasting. flavor of the citrus was little bit like Sun Drop or Squirt. I t seems I heard they may have bought the Sobe or some other brands stuff. i was disappointed they didnt get a distribution deal.

Not to discredit anything here, but 3-5 horsepower seems like a monumental jump.

What I do recall was Kawasaki wanting a redesign of the exhaust after Villopoto endo’d and dirt packed into the tip because of the cone shape PC had at the time.

I’m sure the full/true story will come out one day on a podcast where someone close to the team has a few too many coors lights

My family owns a gas station and growing up I remember seeing these in the magazine. My dad finally got his hands on them from one of our distributors and it was about the time I believe FMF was dumping the concept as we where getting cases of them for $5. We ended up buying the rest of the stock from the local distributor cause they actually sold pretty well and we wanted them for ourselves as they where pretty tasty. LOL

Swapmoto had a good little article on the venture from a few years ago. Talking about the famous "Naked Truth Ad"

If I remember correctly, it was not over a power issue, as you mentioned, it was over PC not wanting to make some changes they requested. Along with the FMF change, they went to DASA to do head porting since PC had done that work as well for the factory team. My understanding was they asked DASA to just copy their best PC head they had, but DASA said they could do better.

In the end, to go back to mx295 post, I know with the new heads and FMF they made more power, to the point I heard Villo may have said it was to powerful and had them back down the power some. Maybe it was an overall package that you heard found them 3-5 HP

Monster not Red Bull had the issue with a company with a competing product having a muffler with that company's logo on it on a Monster Energy sponsored race team. The FMF logos were removed and within a short period of time PC exhaust was back on the Kawis and MIke Fisher was out of a job.

FMF banners were taken down at Hangtown and FMF was none too pleased since they'd paid for advertising. BTW the thing that blew the arrangement up was a FMF energy drink higher up gave an interview to a trade magazine which Monster promptly saw, and the rest is history. Article was supposed to have come out after Hangtown, but early release made opening National a tad messy.

I remember when the Sobe No Fear Gold was getting pushed. The pits in San Diego was a sea of gold cans.

Yep, but I think I read they actually filed bankruptcy already? I think anymore people just hope to get bought out like Monster and Rockstar did from Coke and Pepsi.

When these came out a neighborhood kid cut it to fit his shock reservoir on his CRF230.
