In 1983-1984 when I was stationed in England in the USAF, there was only 4 channels on the only TV in the barracks. One of the channels had championship snooker, F1, golf and MXGP. I remember David Thorpe. He was a smooth rider. He knew how to handle the 500. Made it look easy.

Great job. I never knew these had so much more travel than the 1978 model. The Suzukis were the bike to have back then. And you're right about them being tall for the times. Nobody had tank stickers at the races.

Steve, the bright colors and sharpness of your photos is incredible. You should teach a photo class. You are really good it it. And I'd bet your setup is as trick and secret as a factory bike.

My first ride on a real bike on a real track. In 1977. Madera Lakes on a friends 1977 RM125B. Scared and thrilled.

I remember when the 1986 ATC250R was new and they were common at Pismo. Few quads. My brother did work on his engine til it was like a top fuel dragster. He routinely beat Banshees up comp. hill. All foopers now. Funnest times I ever had riding. But I got hurt a few times.
