I don’t know how it works if truth be told, but a sensor in the carb doesn’t make as much sense to me as a sensor on the crank speed.

def not attached to carb. the oem carb had a throttle position sensor, but you can unplug that when swapping to a new carb. mine for instance was unplugged and filled with epoxy, currently running a lectron. its tied to the CDI.
Aah, okay, I had just assumed that the slide position sensor was sending the information to the RC valve. My bad. There are a lot of wires on that bike for a two stroke haha!

In no particular order;
1. Not producing sport ATVs.
2. Not producing the XR75.
3. Not producing the CT70.

Can you imagine how many XR75's they would sell if the popped out another production run??? All of us old fuggers would be buying them for the grandkids and ourselves alike. Sure would make it easy for me to find donor bikes for all these aftermarket frames I want to build up.

We still see the Gyros all over the place in Japan. all of the pizza places use them for deliveries.
And I just saw a Fatcat at a used dealer a couple of weeks ago.

23" front wheel?
20" front wheel?
Dual carbs on XR200R, XR250R
Stopping MR50, CR60 production
Stopping CR500 production (should have just went like Yamaha and BNG the hell out of it forever)
Never coming out with a CR100 like RM and YZ's
Being so scared of power valves after '84 CR250 ATAC to fully discontinue it in '85 and then resume HPP in '86.

Just wondering, why do so many of you feel the crf150r was a bad idea? I had so many good races on mine. Loved that bike!

Doing away with the simple, light, affordable, XR/CRF70s, 80s, and 100s and replacing them with pigs.

ATAC anyone???

No familiarity with the 250 system but those 89 CR125's were being used in dirt track well into 2000's due to the power they made

So I'm rehabbing an 04 CR 125 for my brother, and I am learning about the engineering marvel (sarcasm) that is the RC powervalve controller. I bought this one as a project and as soon as the previous owner said it didn't have any top end before he took it apart, I had a feeling the powervalve was the problem. Despite the picture, the rest of the bike actually looks good. For those not familiar, it's an electronic motor that is commonly used in model boats and cars, it opens based on a sensor in the carb. I ended up sourcing a replacement motor (MTronics M400) no problem, but it got me thinking about what an overly complicated and unreliable way to do something that had worked perfectly well with a centrifugal setup for nearly 20 years before that.

That got me thinking... what are Honda's dumbest ideas for MX bikes over the years? My top five looks like this:

1) Lefthand kickstart
2) RC Valve
3) Air Forks
4) Magnesium side cases (mid 80s)
5) 1989 CR 250 forks

Oddly enough, the aluminum frame didn't make my cut. The first generation wasn't great, but it appears the aluminum frame has stood the test of time.

All in all, Honda doesn't make many huge blunders in my opinion, but they have definitely made a few!
Your showing your lack of knowledge, there were plenty of mc's with left hand kickstarts WAY before Honda even tried it, Husky, Maico, etc etc
