My best friend passed away from cancer about sIx years ago and his CR500 sat on the side of his shed under a tarp for many years and it was a bit rough. I did not want it to go to some squid as it was an awesome machine that Don luved so I purchased it from his widow and restored it down to the bare frame. I know he would have approved. Mixed thoughts about this. Obviously not technically difficult to do but KTM led the way with putting hydro clutches on production bikes; it’s kind of been one of the iconic features on their modern bikes. Big call to put something bespoke on that probably will never be seen on any other KTM on the planet. On the other hand I think is Tomac that picky and sensitive about it to insist upon a cable clutch when all of KTM’s titles in the last 25 years or so globally have been achieved with a hydro clutch. Any extra Oil capacity is a Good thing, but, not a universal panacea. A slightly larger reservoir, enabling more oil - well it won't be much of an increase. People mostly don't know how little oil Is in the actual reservoir, given the size of a bladder / the depth of the piston setting - it is, buggerall, in the vast majority of shocks. And, you have to be cautious - you need to consider the expansion of the oil through heat. I remember at Fox, a (rough) rate of expansion was regarded as 10% - but that's just a...

Why not use the leader lights for restarts? They could be fired off at the correct timing intervals of each of the riders. Your lights turn on, you go. Anyone that takes off early loses a position. The technology is already in place and this would be more fair and better maintain the spirit of the racing. We all watched a well deserved win snatched from a rider last night so maybe it's worth taking a look at.

10/10/2024 7:44am I just recently made that exact switch- 250FX to Tx300- definitely waaay different bikes but both fantastic. Full disclosure I spent decades on 2 strokes. If your racing you’ll definitely appreciate the 2 stroke on dead engine starts. And I was pleasantly surprised how could the new spring fork is on the KTM/Husky.
