But there are also browser plug-ins to set it. Doesn't work on all pages but on this platform it works well.

Doesn't work on mobile chrome browser, mine is set to dark but this site is currently burning my retina's...

Okay, gang, we're looking for feedback on ideas to improve the technical aspects of the forum. There are a few parts to this.

• What do you like, and what don't you like about the current setup.

• Features you'd like to see, or feel are missing and would improve the experience.

• Is there a forum software out there that really does it right? Which one? What's better?

• Do your comments relate to desktop? Mobile? Or both?

All right, we can't wait to see what's on your wish list.
I have been running much smaller forums for almost 20 years now. We have had excellent results using https://xenforo.com

You have a huge site here and most have no idea how complicated it is to run and keep going. I can't imagine the size of your database. For a site of this size I think you guys do a heck of a job, the only thing I would like to see upgraded is the search feature. An advanced search feature would be awesome, again I understand the task of this and understand why you do not... Good luck, you have a gem here!!!

I agree. This place has become a toxic cess pool of political correctness that can't handle opposition of opinions.

Like others have said the Search function needs an overhaul.

Sometimes there will be a topic posted within the last month about (for example) Fox Shocks. If I search Fox Shocks I will get a ton of answers, Ok that's fine they are mentioned a lot, But I will see topics from 2014, 2017, 2009, 2015, etc. with no ryhme or reason. The search should go chronologically backward with the most recent results first. That's my biggest issue with the search function. Even now if I search "Mcadoo", there are posts from 2018, and 2017 above posts from 3 days ago.

Maybe a lot people missed GuyB's post, but the search function was overhauled about 6 months ago.

It's a lot better than it used to be.

totally agree, the lack of ability to have a conversation/discussion, even a spirited one like in the past has totally been lost. It’s not a matter of being bothered by the down votes because i don’t care... it’s the lack of ability to engage in a conversation with a down vote instead of a person who actually takes the time to type something out. For those of us that have been around awhile I don’t feel the feature is value added, it has changed the dynamic of the forum in a negative way, and allows for drive by posting without contributing to the discussion.

Support the grass roots racers by creating a local racing section by AMA district. These are the guys that are buying parts that support the forum through advertisements. Help local tracks which are the backbone of the sport

USA and Canada track map please

Like others have said...

1. Charge an "entry fee" to join. It'll keep a lot of multiple accounts and trolls away...maybe. Those who have been here a while won't mind it at all and will gladly join. I'd certainly pay $20-30.

2. Thumbs up/thumbs down is ridiculous (IMO).. It's nothing but a troll tool.

3. I think a separate forum for "Back In The Day" discussion for old farts like me to talk about what the sport was years ago is a great idea.

Make the forum smell like SC1. If that's not possible, doing something about reincarnated trolls would be nice.

Local Racing sub forums. Kinda like a calendar or bulletin board type thing where we can post races happening say in the south east when and where. But each forum member must select their location in their account and get small notifications of what local event is happening that weekend. With kinda the same look as scores running on espn in a sliding bar type deal. Nothing to where it is bugging them to go but they just take a peak at the header to see what is going on in their area. Heck maybe include tracks promoting practice days.

I think there could be a much better way for tracks to promote practice days and races than Facebook and Instagram. Because instead of a one time feed in would be a small bar running every time you’re on vital, but like I said it’s not blaring in you’re face it’s like how espn or any sports network runs scores.

I just think it would be good for everyone and maybe drive some more traffic and a different type of crowd to vital.
Because it’s kind of a pain to comb through facebook or Instagram to see what is happening that weekend. It would be nice to have it all in one centralized place.
I like the regional idea. The ability to be able to communicate with people in your area would be great to bench race about local tracks. Not to mention sometime if you have something for sale that you only want to sell locally.

I would like to say I think you are doing a great job with this site. I never join anything on the internet precisely because I don't want to argue about unrelated issues. Loved moto as long as I can remember which goes back to about 1974 and and say keep up the good work

PM's suck compared to any other platform. Like, more than a 97 cr250.

Make down voters visible so you can see who the hidden fukstix are.

I don't like the endless scroll on my phone. I'll be alota scrolls deep in the classifieds and click one, hit back, then I gotta scroll my ass off to get back to where I was.

I'd like to see a notification flag that notifies you when you log in that someone has quoted one of your posts.

Also, a multi quote function would be very useful.

A way to 'save' threads would be cool.
For instance, I could save the thread that has a compilation of Stew videos. Then I could easily go back to that thread later by selecting it from my 'saved threads'.

The ads before embedded videos. I don’t want to watch a 15 or 30 sec ad just to watch a 20 sec clip. I understand it’s more ad revenue, but how about we compromise that the ads only show for videos that are greater than 1min long?

Add an icon that says " you disagreed with me once, so I'm going to thumbs down anything you post even though you are 100% correct".
That's CLASSIC!

But, where are all the brave ones gonna go when you remove the anonymity? Grinning

One thing I'd like to see change is regarding the post quotes. It's probably more of a Forum host/software fix, but please...incorporate some type of summation/abbreviation where it only displays the first few lines of the post quote with a link to click if one needs to read/see the rest.

The worst is when a bunch of people repeatedly quote a post with bunch of pics and then you got 2 pages to scroll through with like 4 replies...morans. Yeah you know who you are...
What this guy says!

Excellent site all around--- only minor suggestions I'd have are the following--and most have already been stated

1. I'd be ok with a Posting membership fee, even up to $40/50 annually- or at least a 30 day trial membership of "viewing only" before posting as someone mentioned

2. If you keep the the "thumb" option, make it transparent on both ends

3. As Mav stated -- block a recurring troublesome IP addresses

4. PM feature is certainly hit or miss

5. Eliminate the multiple pics from quoted posts

6. As far as bouncing guys, is there a "warning" system in place ? Being that I try to stay away from controversial subjects ,lol, I haven't been privvy to that process. It just seems that some very good, interesting posters have been launched, and some ACTUAL asshats are able to stay longer than they should .......

Putting up a pay wall will kill the forum, I've seen it happen to many other good forums.

Overall this is a well setup site, but like others have said, the PM's are terrible and is the number one 'problem' with the site. I agree more sub-forums in the classified would be great. Search is decent since it was updated a few months back. I love the suggestion of not being able to quote photos or have them minimized for the morans that do it constantly.

I haven’t read all the post but how about a “Ask Robb Beams” similar to a “Ask Ping”. Have coach Robb answer a few questions each week about training and nutrition. And if you can’t get Robb, maybe get another trainer to do it. Or maybe a training and nutrition section of the forum

Comments that get more likes/dislikes are upvoted and rise to the top of the thread.

Threads turn into multiple conversations. Keep them lumped together. When you respond to a comment it doesn't copy it but your comment stays with it (like Reddit). Like a subthread.

Have badges for people that are very active. In the Tech Forum there are some guys that really kniw their stuff and others that talk out of their ass. Have a way to give this guys credit so people trust them and they get some respect.

I like that idea. I think it would be a great addition to have a training/nutrition sub forum. Same for an ask rob segment.
