I'm sure I'll get blasted and I know it's got less than a 0% chance of happening... but BB4 would be a solid US guy to compete in MXGP.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't think it will happen but it could be a great way for Blake to restart his career. His strong suit is outdoor racing anyway so why not go all in on it?

So...are the powers that be at the RM/ATV/MC KTM team so blatantly stupid, that they let Baggett walk for Joey & Bogle? Neither one of those guys (in my opinion) have the firepower that Baggett has. The story hasn't been completely told yet regarding Blake's claim that the team owed him money...but if he wins a potential lawsuit against them, AND they realize they made a poor choice in riders...it could potentially cost RM/ATV/MC KTM a ton of money, when they could have stuck with BB4, settled with him outside of a court room...and rolled with Bogle until Blake could come back.

I've been involved with some lawsuits as an expert witness. I've seen defendants that clearly know they're in the wrong and know they are going to lose continue until the last minute. Their thinking is why pay until we absolutely have to. The plaintiff might die, or run out of money to continue or just give up and go away. Sometimes they wait to see if the judge and jury look favorable to them. One major insurance company always settled right before trial started. The term used is "on the courthouse steps".

I dont have any information about Baggett. I'm speculating there is language in the contract that RMATV feels allows them to not pay him the full amount, to renegotiate his salary or voids the last year of the contract. There could have been incentive cluases to hit or bonuses he felt were due.

These things can take years to play out, especially if there are lots of hearings on motions.

Would 100% agree but for some reason it seems like he's been having better results in SX than MX the last 2 years

Lets be honest... it's just a fucking dirt bike race... we're not curing cancer here folks. If the teams want to be treated with respect by the media, then they need to show that respect back. Teams and riders either hide everything or outright lie to the media and then get pissed off when the media calls them on it or speculates.

Maybe you should could be the Journalist to change it if you're so passionate about it. Get in the pits, spill all the dirt and then let us know how it goes.
Frustrated? Honestly, I couldn't give a fuck. This sport is it's owe worst enemy most of the time and honestly... on a public stage, we've peaked. We may get a little bigger or smaller as time goes on, but we'll never be like F1 or the NFL... and that's OK.

THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH BAGGETT OR RMATVMC-KTM

But has to do with Covid and contracts and if any lawyers here would like to assist, please...

Due to Covid, almost every single contract in the sport was violated in one way or another, either through payment schedules, total events, payrolls, sponsor payments and so much more...

Lot of sponsors either have not paid or reduced payment because the contract was violated or altered.

Almost no contracts in the pits went unscathed.

Term used here is called "Force Majeure"
Or just say "Act of God"

Many teams and companies have had to resort to creative financing to not only get through 2020, but 2021 and maybe 2022 as well.

In order to renegotiate these deals, everyone involved has to be flexible.

What was, ain't no more.

Again, not being specific about anything, only addressing the parts about contracts and compensation within the industry as well as "normal life" business contracts.

Imagine an other sport where an athlete on the same level as Baggett gets dropped/leaves before a team launch and people start hearing about it on an online forum and a tweet. And still not a single story anywhere. Ridiculous if you want my opinion.

Want to grow the sport? Start here.

Well, it's not exactly easy. The amount of physical training, riding and work it takes to be at the Pro level successfully is more physical than a lot of labor jobs.

Just think, every time you've pulled off the track during practice cause you were tired, or not feeling it, or had a sore back or whatever excuse....these guys can't do that, the motos must be done, the work must be done. Day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year. It's a job, a damn hard one.

It's not just throwing whips and showing up on Saturdays to get it done at the top level.
I got a ex pro job on oil rigs working 12hr days was known for his fitness - lets just say he shit himself working 12hr days.. Definitely didn't go workout after work.. rather run the pro athlete then work all my life on Oil Rigs.. And he was still young under 30...

21 days straight of 5 AM to 7 PM is not normal nor should it be the standard. I get the whole tough guy “I dig a ditch for 40 hours.” Angle but it’s never not eye rolling.

I work a fuck load of hours for shit pay but I still understand these guys work hard. I hate that argument of then vs me.
Depends what you do I guess. I’m working a TV show now 5 hours from where I live. Average work day is 14 hours. We have been starting at around 1 to 2 am every morning. Switching to night shooting tomorrow so all the sudden work day starts at around 2pm. 5 days a week. I leave Sunday around noon to drive to the city I’m working in and head back Friday night if possible. It’s a grind for sure. 4 weeks left on a 16 week shoot.

Exactly look at the surfing industry - Hurley burned allot of athletes and used I believe "Force Majeure" due to Covid and not competing. Either didn't pay and made contracts void ..

"Winter is Coming"

I recall a recent multi-season show being shot up there and waiting for the proper weather to finish filming...in fairly "remote" locations...and that's by Canadian standards...

So, working up there, in that industry, during this time of year? Damn...that's gotta have some challenges!

This idea that these guys have it so hard or should be paid $XXXXXXX because they have to train hard is hilarious. There are thousands of athletes all over the world training just as hard if not harder and not making anywhere near as much as the top riders. 90% of olympians are not making that kind of money and are training just as hard as these guys. Hell there's alot of people out there training just as hard for their chosen sport just for the fun of it.

The 14 hours a day thing is real, I work in the same industry. I average 70 hours a week in 5 days. I’ve worked 30 straight days and put in 100 hour weeks. It’s not fun, but we have no choice !
We are compensated and have a pension to look forward to, but the motion picture industry dictates your hours, you have no choice on how long you work for. I’ve worked over 86,000 hours on the last 30 years and I was injured several times and spent 5-8 months recovering. I average 3200 hours a year and work 10 months a year.
If people only knew.

They aren't paid to train, they are paid because they provide value to their employers/sponsors.

All I'm trying to say is they damn sure work hard enough to earn what they make.

Again, I'm sorry those other athletes made choices that led them to not making squat for their efforts. Maybe they should have chosen another sport if they wanted to get paid?
