Which are you? If you have to ask, the correct answer is “none”

Gen 1, were no mini bikes (pre-73?)
Gen 2, XR75, Z50, misc brands (73-75)
Gen 3, YZ/RM 80, XR75 (Birth of Supermini) (76-80)
Gen 4, PW50 (1980)
Gen 5, Single shock water cooled and 85 cc’s
Gen 6, The Cobra Generation

Reason I ask is, we now adding a new Gen, or will be soon, kids of top racers....like Vohland, Deegan, Wey, Ferry and so many more are coming through.

Would have been a 2.5. Would have killed for a xr75 before I put my eyes on a 76 yz80. Parents weren’t having either so all I could do was sneak rides on friends bikes...

Gen 2 here....practice riding a 1973 MR 50 at Claudostines to a hand-me-down 1974 XR 75, to racing my 1978 YZ 80 at Escape Country...(that’s when it got serious!)

Gen 1 Lawnmower powered rigid framed mini-bikes.

Then Honda came out with the Mini-Trail 50, it was a DREAM MACHINE!
Even though I had a fantastic riding spot right across the street with hills and tracks Pops would never get me one....Unsure

Gen 2. Used to get smoked on my indestructible Z50 by XR75’s, but that changed a few years later when I got an RM80.

Guess this makes me generation 2.5, since I inherited these bikes from you soon after (we're 4 years apart)!

Gen 1 here.
Never had a motorcycle (or mini-bike) until I could buy one myself. "Too dangerous" But my parents had no problem with us racing Stingrays down the trail to Malaga cove, going 40mph down hills on skateboards and Flexi's, all in a pair of trunks and vans with no socks. But motorcycles ? Naahhh....no way, too dangerous Laughing Our neighbor had a Bonanza Briggs powered minibike he used to let me poach and ride around the neighborhood.

Mini Trail 50's came out in 68' or 69' ?

Gen 1 - started riding in 1972 on a nasty little Indian 50 that was way too big for me at age 4. That was quickly dumped for a Honda Z50, customized by my dad with a lower saddle and cut down bars. Good times.

This is relative to when those bikes were new at the time and not what you had?

I guess I'd be either maybe 4.5, as I had an '84 cr80 in the late 80's, so it's single shock water cooled, but still way before 85's. Seems like single shock water cooled and 85's need to be separate categories, since that gap is early 80's to early 00's?

Gen 1-to-2

Started on Brand-X mini-bike with 3.5 Briggs edger engine.

After that MiniTrail 50, then CT-70 and up from there.

Cant really recall when I got the mini-bike, but was around 70-71 I think. They were all the rage in thru the 60s and I think the first time I saw one was on Green Acres in the late 60s. (they had mini bikes on that show a lot)

Gen 3 but started on a QA50. There were still a few XR’s circling the track but they quickly disappeared and the YZ80 took over.

Gen 5, 1st bike was a PW80 for Christmas 1999, quickly followed by a KX80 less than a year later.

Gen 3.5. Started on a brand new yz50 in 1982. Must have been a leftover model since I think the YZ50 (not a PW) was only produced in 1980.
