I do race... as an amateur in 30+ with a bunch of other people who have a day job that pays the bills. That's where the level of respect is heightened. I'm there for fun, not to make a living based on my results. If amateur racing is what put food on my families table my outlook would be different.

I've been taken out and taken people out. If it's unintentional I usually try and find them after the race to apologize. If they refuse then it reflects more on them than me. I can't speak for Dylan or Christian. He played the victim on social media and Dylan didn't immediately apologize. Blame that on the generation, social media age, pride or whatever but this incident was far from extreme. Y'all are getting panties in a wad because that tuff Blok gripped Craig's rear wheel and turned the bike sideways with him on it, ejecting him. That's not Dylan's fault. How the fuck could a human being orchestrate all that?

I'd say it's Craig's fault for leaving the inside open in a 90 degree sweeper but how dare I accuse him of poor racecraft proven over years of piss poor results below his potential. That is exhibit R in a long list of poor decisions that have cost him a more successful career. He's on the down slope and he knows it. This year may have been his last real chance before going in to Marty territory.
We get it dude, you don’t like Craig.

Craig knows there is insideline to pass at every corner:

I don't like hypocrites that victimize themselves while also being guilty of said offenses. It wreaks of entitlement and dirty politics. Can't wait for his v log this week!

Also, notice how I keep my opinions confined to this topic. I'm not hopping all over the internet or going to his personal page to trash him. I reserve that for people trashier than me.

It was when he came into his line on the face of that first triple in the rhythm section before the big triple by home plate. I haven’t watched the broadcast yet so Im not sure if they showed it. From where I was in the stands it looked sketchy as hell and Lawrence could have been punted off track.

I don’t honestly care what GOAT says about it. He is merely protecting himself because he was notorious for it. Ever watch him clean out Travis Pastrana merely because GOAT felt threatened? The industry, sanctioning bodies, riders, teams, or whatever wouldn’t/couldn’t stand up to him because he was winning. Nobody including riders wants to rock the boat which is rampant in MX/SX. His T.V. coverage comments taint everyone of these incidents.

BUT let Alessi go dirty and clean out a rider on Carmichael’s team (Tickle) and it’s a travesty. The whole industry is up & arms because it’s an Alessi thus EASY to do the right thing now.

Would Craig still have that ride if he wasn't married in to the team? It's probably hard to let a guy go knowing it directly effects your grandson as well.

I get the hint you don’t race. Or just talking crap on the internet. Dirty riding is dirty riding. If some moron cleans me out intentionally there will be consequences. I could get hurt and miss paychecks. Same goes for 95% of the riders in any SX.

Also ride like this at any local track and owner will kick your ass out. Probably ban you ASAP.
What if you kid made that pass at the AMA professional supercross at Anaheim and got hundreds of thousands of dollars almost immediately following it, then potentially millions down the road. How do you feel about it then?

I'm not sure what some of you were watching but DF rode straight across into Craig.. who was carrying speed at the "exit" of the berm and hammered him. Block passes usually occur prior to the ending of the berm. He was already exiting the berm at speed. Because Craig was hauling and because Dylan took such a straight across angle at speed Craig ended up getting some serious air time. That was not a block pass, that was a bullshit move that could have really hurt someone.

I like both riders and I hated seeing Craig ending up not finishing. Was DF a little aggressive? Absolutely. I dont know how anyone could argue that. He ended up taking himself and Craig out. Now, was this all intentional? I highly doubt it. It would be hard to convince me that DF sat back and said to himself "I'm gonna take Craig out in this corner." Most likely he said to himself "I'm gonna try and take Craig high in this corner, get the quick pass then push forward to catch Lawrence." There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that DF didn't intend to take himself and Craig down. Bonehead move, yes. Intentional, no.

Believe me, in the near future, Ferandis is going to get what he's got coming from Craig. This is between those two racers. Not armchair quarterbacks.

And that was an unbelievable ride by Jett, 16 year old rookie puts almost 10 seconds on the field????

Anyone that's ever raced successfully knows exactly what it feels like to have the wheels fall off for no reason other than inexperience in the last few laps of the race when your leading and your mind starts wandering. Make a few dumb mistakes and feel things slipping away.. all of a sudden you hear a screaming bike behind you ..so you panic and ride like crazy trying to keep the lead....only to seemingly forget how to ride fast all of a sudden.....That was awesome to watch....Great racing...
Jett was flat out exhausted and couldn't hang on any longer, but I was hoping he would still win it.

Yeah v-bone is a better description. It wasn’t a 90 degree impact. Probably something in the area of 45 degrees. I guess I hold the pros to a higher level of judgment. Difficult to reconcile this one and the black flagging of Reed. But then many of the AMA decisions are difficult to reconcile.
Fractions of a second regardless of the ability level. Once you decide to commit there's no going back.

Agreed. Its the decision to commit that I am questioning. Here's some screen captures to add to the discussion. At the very least it was an incredibly unwise decision by Ferrandis:

Top pic clearly shows Ferrandis is already in the lead and committed to his line.
Now what should happen?
Craig is cruising around the outside like an old lady on a Sunday drive and assumes the exit line is his.
It's not so he should shut off and allow the pass to be completed.
He doesn't back off and gets cleaned out.

Craig is no rookie but this is a rookie mistake.
Terrible line choice and race craft for a veteran.
If he takes the proper line this doesn't happen.

Cruising around like an old lady on a sunday drive..... ha come on man. He was in 2nd place in a professional event. DF was just going that much faster than Craig and everyone else at that point.

This is a weekly happening n NASCAR and penalties are rarely handed out and it works pretty well . They allow the drivers to work it out (meaning next race Craig puts Dylan on his ass) It’s up to CC to dish out the penalty

Sounds like a fast way to get a lot of injuries.
I understand concern for injury but in reality these guys get hurt way more often in solo mistakes/crashes than when they are from being knocked down by another rider. Roczens horrible injury, Jetts crash last night. Those r how they get hurt. What self policing does with drivers/riders is let them know you may have gotten away with it this time but after I get done with you I don’t think it’s going to happen again. It really is a good way to clean dirty riders up

I feel it’s really bad for the sport to start discouraging aggressive racing. Most motorsports involve racers who push the limits and rules to win.

Let CC punt him over the berm next race and it’s over with

Craig was hit mid-bike. There was never any possibility of Ferrandis ever successfully completing the pass. I guess it depends on what you call a racing incident. Too me a t-bone collision doesn’t qualify.
And both riders went down. Doesn't seem like incidental contact when you hit with that much force.

Thanks Captain Obvious

I think we all understand the monetary motivation.

That has nothing to do with being legal or right or wrong.

Hint: We understand the bank robber wanted money..doesn’t mean he gets to keep it.

I think there is a difference if someone meant to take out another rider or it was by accident from going too fast and not being in control.

I don't think he meant to do it and he did say more than once that he apologizes to Craig.

I think most people in here thought it was an over aggressive , dumb move......what really sucked last night , was reading complete hatred and just flat out wrong type comments. I agree he should be on a few race probation or something , but 1 year? I'm a big fan of Christian and Dylan. Sucks that it went down like that , but it didn't warrant some of the comments that came through here last night. I don't do Instagram , but heard he just got trashed bad on there last night , with some evil shit. Uncalled for in my opinion.

Truth be told, I'm a fan of every guy who lines up at a SX. It is damn gnarly.

An incident like this really brings out the ugly side of social media. I made the error of having a peek at Dylan's IG after this incident. Some of the stuff on there was disgusting. Same with YouTube comments below the press conference. Now I see there are over 3000 comments on Ferrandis' post from Friday on IG. At least he put his race-win post today and disabled the comments.

It was a marginal pass attempt gone horribly wrong. Was not the first time in the history of SX, and certainly won't be the last. People just need to calm the fuck down.

There's absolutely no comparison, in case you haven't noticed, this is not racing hard for 3rd place in the swap class at chicken lips raceway.

It's the way people justify their opinions (which they often pass off as fact) these days.

"Some guy that some people know said something I agree with, so I must be right."

I think the punishment should be to watch the Craig family vlogs for the rest of the year.

Might be too extreme of a punishment actually.

Craig is a smooth rider who tends to ride wide lines sweeping from outside - leaving the inside open. Many riders block passed on the inside on that same turn where Craig was hit - without crashes. He either didn’t know Dylan was on him or decided to keep it pinned from the outside knowing Dylan might hit him.

It was a mistake - as Dylan said he was already crashing before he came into contact with Craig.
Craig should have have been signaled or known Dylan was coming fast and protected the inside or let Dylan have it.

Dylan now knows that Craig may race him differently because of the takeout. I doubt Craig will retaliate directly but he could ride him high on a berm or something else less obvious.
