Yeah you don't like Reed, so it would bite your tongue to say on a factory equipment he is in the same group as :

AC
Savatgy
Stewart
Brayton
Baggett
Wilson
(and a bit better than Bowers, Bogle, Bloss, Freise, Hill)

(so not in the tier 1 group of championship contenders: Tomac, Roczen, Musquin, Anderson, Webb, and possibly Osborne)

7th in the championship last year on the JGR bike, you still have nightmares from it Laughing

That idea is so crazy that it might work out.
Since when GasGas 450cc been added AMA homologation list? Bike that its not even out yet.
A1 is not enduro event.

I was just joking but they could easily do it just a ktm team with gasgas as their biggest sponsor. Because that gasgas is basically gonna be a ktm with small changes...

As was stated earlier in the thread, he was sitting in 7th when he got injured.

Yes, I understand PR and these teams probably a little better than you realize.
This is FACTORY KTM. They hire to win, period. Companies like Morotex write a HUGE check for that. I would be PISSED if I’m Motorex, and they hired Reed, instead of moving Baggett up (if they didn’t have a rider) and filling someone else on the Rocky MTN team.
They don’t hire riders because of a “feel good” tour. If anyone would do that it would be Yamaha where he won multiple championships, trying to do some branding with winning. I can’t believe I’m even responding to this

Hey, is McGrath available to come back and run the series for Honda? That would generate more publicity than Reed, way more. Why don’t they do that?
McGrath is busy not making money for Kawasaki with his can’t-qualify-for-the-mains ass. What a has been.

That crossed my mind as an awesome way to introduce GasGas to SX, but I doubt they are there with development on a new SX worthy machine.

Do you lay awake still thinking Stew is gonna show up and start jumping quads? Maybe KTM can bring him in too. Meanwhile, the 10 million watching will see Webb on TV and challenging for a win, which is exactly what KTM pays for because THATS where profit comes from..Winning, just like Charlie Sheen.

You don't know that Reed will cost more money than he can generate. I get the feeling he'd race for free just to have the factory bikes, transport, etc paid for. You also don't seem to understand much about PR. Having one of the biggest names in sport under your tent during his farewell tour is a big exposure opportunity. Maybe they don't want the distraction. Maybe they don't like Chad. Who knows? Not you or I. Surely Roger and Ian considered the possibility, and obviously have their reasons for not reaching out to him.

Can you remember when was the last time that the guy with the most main event starts (by a huge margin) didnt qualify for a main? Your comment is beyond ignorant.

Either way you can keep your hating to yourself.

So you originally said there was "not one logical reason they should hire him"
he is popular and gets a lot of attention.
Do you disagree with that statement? and if you do not, is that not a positive reason to hire him? i was merely saying there are pros and cons to hiring him.
i was merely pointing out that your original point was daft.

If he would cost more than he can generate (would love to know how you know what he costs for a fill in ride, and how many sales he would generate)
do you think every rider who doesn't have a chance at winning, and generates less sales than reed should lose their ride? I think there will be about 5 guys left with rides.

Ok you’re right. I’m not going to argue, and they should hire the 722 as well. He can rap on the side of the track, sitting on his bike after missing the main, and get all kinds of attention. I really hope Chad Reed gets hired by a factory to appease your man love for him, meanwhile, the people that pay the bills have work to do. Thanks for playing
You realise that Chad, one of the greats of Supercross has announced that this will be his last year right.

You don't think he will be part of the rider introduction at all 17 rounds this year on his good bye tour? You don't think he is going to get mentioned at every single round by Ralph during the broadcast?

You don't think at some point he is going to get a great start and run up front for awhile or near the front, might not be for a whole race, but there will be times he is near the front.

Sure he might not get anywhere near the attention of the current champ on the same bike, but KTM are not going to pay him the same right.

You put Chad on any bike this year, align any brand, they are going to get coverage, between rider intro at the track, some for of TV time pretty much every round, not to mention every other media outlet wanting to cover his farewell tour in some regard.

Name one other available rider who is going to generate that type of attention in 2020 that is not already signed.

I would say RED BULL would like to see two bikes out there all year.

You are the team manager, who would you put out there who is available right now.

Well without looking detailed results... off the top of my head, Bagget had 5 podiums... including a win.

Not to bag on Reed, but it would be an insult to say that Bagget is at the same level as Reed. All of those guys are on factory/solid equipment because they've earned it

I'd say Baggett's current ceiling is higher, but he has his fair share of very average rides too that don't result in "What happened to him that he finished 10th?" I'd put Reed slightly below Dean Wilson. It's a great day if they podium, but also not surprising if they're 12th. I'd put Reed towards the bottom of that group, but still in that group.

Pipe dream but they would theoretically still have their 1 year production rule exemption and Chad could ride pretty much anything he wanted and how he wanted it.

IMO, Reed carries some personal baggage, as would anyone at this point in his career... But Chad is still reasonably competitive with young pups, and is arguably the most significant rider in the whole field. That's HUGE.

If an enormous international personality who has been one of our most important athletes EVER doesn't merit a paid ride on his farewell tour, it is hard to argue that the sport can support generally ANY rider.

Does anyone notice how old Ricky never answers peoples questions?
some of the ones you missed ricky boy:
-Is his popularity A logical reason to hire him (independent to the also logical reasons not to hire him)
-Should anyone who is not capable of winning lose theor factory rides?
-Who would you have hired?
-Should anyone that Reed beats either be fired or lose their jobs?
