Justin Hill signs with MCR

I would think MCR are hoping for some podiums from Mookie and Hill and many holeshots from Freise.

Pre season interviews: “Bike and team is amazing! Can’t thank them!”

First round: “struggled all day with the bike, team is amazing tho. Changed setup back to our base setting before the main and it was a disaster ”

Mid season: “just having trouble getting comfortable on this all new bike. Went back to our base setting and feel so much better already but still need to fine tune it.“

Late SX: “I’m just not having fun anymore and for me it’s gotta be fun.”

Late 2020: “I’m ready to race and even hungrier than ever before! Can only hope someone believes in me.”
Hahahahahaha dude you nailed it!

Im surprised we didn't get the usual "yea-no-definitely, the Honda really suits my riding style"

Should HOFame your post so we can look back on it throughout the points during the season and laugh at how accurate it is.

I think Justin is talented but he was talented in the 250 class, the 450 class is overfilled with top 3 250 class talent. He went into Tampa with no fear, did good and got paid huge 1%'er money and sandbagged his contract. Had he put forth the effort to keep his ride he wouldn't be on a MCR Honda bec he had another year based on performance with JGR…… he didn't perform. I think teams should have some sort of way to protect themselves from a rider giving a shitty effort while being paid to do well and getting his full contract within reason, but that would be a nightmare to keep it fair to both parties.

Btw I heard the statistic today that anybody making $518k a year makes you a 1%'er.

Hill should sell life insurance after he runs his course at MCR. Talk about a sales man lol

Hope it works out for Genova's sake, but history proves itself time and time again...

I hope he came cheap. I wouldn’t invest a dime on that guy. Let him go fund his own season once and see how hungry he is then.

Smartop/Bullfrog Spas/MotoConcepts/Honda is pleased to announce that Yoncalla, Oregon’s @justinhill46 will join the team for the 2020 Monster Energy Supercross Championship Series. The former Western Regional 250 Supercross Champion will compete in the 450 class aboard a Honda CRF450R, joining returning team members Malcolm Stewart and Vince Friese.
“Justin has championship speed and abilities and we are excited to have a rider of his caliber join the team,” said Smartop/Bullfrog Spas/MotoConcepts/Honda team owner Mike Genova. “While Justin has had a couple of tough years; we believe that with hard work and commitment on his part, combined with our race-proven MCR Honda, he can be a top contender in 2020.” After winning the 2017 Western Regional Supercross Championship, Hill spent the next season defending his title before moving up to the premier 250 division in 2018. The next two years were riddled with bad luck and injuries that kept Hill from realizing his true potential, but he looks to regain his form with a fresh start in 2020. “I’m really excited to be a part of the Smartop/Bullfrog Spas/MotoConcepts/Honda team,” said Hill. “Change is good and working with this new group of guys is a breath of fresh air. The bike is amazing, and I am looking forward to racing to the top this coming season.” Hill will pilot a 2020 Honda CRF450R built by mechanic Jake Chase; but will wait to make his competition debut until the January season opener rather than at this weekend’s Monster Energy Cup in Las Vegas, Nevada. “We are definitely excited about signing Justin Hill,” said Team Manager Tony Alessi. “Interestingly enough, he has ridden with us about six or seven times, and each and every time he has managed to turn in the fastest lap of the day. If he can build the fitness to maintain that pace throughout a race, he will be a winner for sure. His fitness program begins in November, and we are looking forward to enjoying a great season together.”
I'm pretty sure this is probably what JGR said 2 years ago when they signed him. Worked out for them.

Good fit for a results based contract/team.

It's quite possible MCR comes out with a bang at A1... Mookie and Hill are fantastic when on their game.

It would be fun to take bets on who has the better season, or single race result, between Hill and Mookie -- hard to say!
I'd take the bet that neither of them finish the season. I like both those kids and they're great when they're on, just like you said. I just don't realistically think either will go the distance, based on history.

Yeah I guess you could be all nasty about it and think the same thing will happen again instead of supporting the rider...why the hate bro?

This is a much better program than the one he was in on. Let’s see if it makes a difference

There's something about leopards and spots which seems rather applicable here......

I'm not the biggest fan of Justin Hill, but Chad Reed is the only Zook rider who did anything in SX last year. Reed has decades of experience, and the Zookies are known to be setup dependent from one track to another.

really hope he finds the Honda fun to ride. I think the team will be a better fit then JGR, especially with the bonus structure at MCR. He has the talent to top and maybe the odd podium, which could bring some good cabbage for him!

The guy couldn't do a whole main event last year he was so out of shape.... it's not the bike.

JGR really didn’t get much return on investment from Hillsy.

Mookie got Mookie in shape and good for him. He was smart enough to realize that this was in all likelihood his last chance on a really good team. And he got his ass fit and was killing it and I was super impressed. This remains to be seen with Hill, and considering he keeps getting chances regardless of his previous teams and contracts, why would he do anything differently? And colour me skeptical on the 8 week training program. This might be okay with a guy like Musquin whose fitness base is so massive...I mean his out of shape is better than the best shape Hill could conceivably even reach!

Having said the above and having been a non believer of the Hill gospel as it were....if this leopard can in fact change his spots he will have a lot of people (including me) eating a steaming pile of crow shit, then good for the lad.

You obviously have insight on the MCR team as you know how Mookie trained, so you are saying MCR has nothing to do with the training programmes Mookie and Hill use?

I guess I'm glad for him that he found someone to pay the bills for him to race. I'm not optimistic that he's as committed as a lot of the top guys are, but I think his talent level is off the charts. Hopefully he wakes up and decides that he wants to compete more than he has admitted to in the past.

I hope he does well, but wouldn't bet the mortgage on him suddenly being fully committed. I think he was honest about his lack of commitment in the past, but it's much harder to believe that he is ever going to turn that around. By that time in your life, you have developed a lot of your permanent habits/tendencies. Let's hope he is one of the relative few that can overcome that.
Let's hope that he lives his life in the way he wills, and not yours.

I consider MCR to be one the premier teams. They have really developed their program and have shown they can make a bike just as good as anyone. Tony Alessi has shown he’s a pretty good team manager too. Wish them continued success and hopefully Justin can figure things out. The talent is there.

Question : Guess I'm out of the loop here , but Brayton no longer with MCR?
Worked great? He got a 7th in the mud and then got in a huge yard sale wreck 4 laps into the main at round 2 riding over his head. Broke his femur and missed the rest of the year.

Yes, Hardly winning. Lot of time left in that race. He was off to a good start though.

Yeah, that's not an "almost win". But what is on display there is that he legitimately picked his way through Tomac, Musquin, and Webb. It's only select few guys in the field that can do that.

I'll take Malcolm all day every day
Tony will get him ready. MCR is dead serious.
