Has proven to be a clean competitor and stepped up his Sportsmanship game by congratulating Cooper Webb. Gosh, lol. Great job Eli.

Ending the season knowing your are the fastest guy in SX has got to help, knowing it at the beginning of the season is his problem.

I see it as a guy who is over beating himself up and is trying to keep a positive attitude.

Can't say what's going to happen, but you'd have to think that the outdoors are going to be good. There are 7-8 guys that can win on any given day. So before giving one rider the championship...let's see how it goes for a few rounds.

The guy makes a shit ton of money riding a dirtbike for a living, has won multiple outdoors championships (worth over $1M each), won a lites SX championship (can't remember if he won 2 or not), plus MEC $1M (probably gave half to Savatgy). Dude is very financially set. I'm sure he wants to win a 450 SX championship but it just wasn't his year. Hes comfortable now (so it seems) and he's headed to the outdoors where he is most comfortable. Too bad it took that long to figure out the bike, but it is what it is. If he carries this momentum into the outdoors, his competition should be concerned once again. Guy is a beast.

Dude came into the season fresh off of a back injury. I’d say he did well, all things considered.

Mmmm. I think barring a crash resulting in injury or a couple DNFs Eli is another level outdoors... he had basically a throw away at Red Bud and still rolled it in.

I don’t believe the outdoors pay anywhere near $1 million....

Where have you read that? SX is a million or so. But the outdoors, I believe, is much less.

I’ve not seen an outdoor title paying less in terms of mfg bonuses.

From what I've heard/seen SX is in the north of a million just factory. Outdoor prolly close to million and counting sponsor money etc over a million. Going back to the point of one reason to be happy, financially Tomac is all set, on top of his base income just last year he won like 8 SX and 10 nationals plus the MEC million. All that together is more than what most of the people make throughout their life, in perspective an American family make less than 70k a year. He made twice that tonight and this ain't football.

A championship bonus for the outdoor title by the manufacturer is probably a million just like Supercross.

Webb was just unbelievably consistent, and his starts in main events were incredibly good every week..Webb was just so perfect week after week with no crashes and holeshots out the ass when he needed them. Some damn good speed when he needed it as well. A rider like Webb has been is gonna be super hard to beat as far as points and a title. Even Dungey didn't get those kinds of starts and ride so flawlessly under pressure. It was pretty remarkable, so for Tomac to come as close as he did and be the closest of anyone else is pretty damn good. Tomac had a great sx season and won a lot of races. He did well, and he also.proved that he can.still smoke everybodys ass (champ included) on any given night in sx just like he can outdoors when he's got his set up to his liking. That's just Tomac. Finicky and he has to have his set up perfect to win. But when he does have it right, he's the baddest cat around. Webb was just fast enough and perfect enough that Tomac couldn't win the points battle with him. Incredible season and incredible performances by many riders. Especially Tomac and Webb.

Lots of excuses on here. Face it he is only in beast mode when it doesn’t count. When it counts he falls apart like a cheap suit. It’s not the bike.

All Tomac fans love the word “If”.

SX will be forgotten about in a couple weeks. Everyone will be talking ET 3peat. But somehow, some way, haters still gonna hate...

So just ignoring the wins, the engine failures, the brake failures, the pants, and the three outdoor titles?

For sure. The injury and working the bugs out of a new bike absolutely played a part in it. It was still a good season regardless

Remember him in beast mode to catch up to dungey in points? Pretty sure that 8 week period counted.

He has always been like that. The only "unfair" moves were after Dungey used team tactics.

That's why the Roczen/Tomac battles were always so fun to watch. Hard racing but completely clean and both full of respect for the other guy. Let's hope Roczen has what it takes for outdoors!

Remember how he never caught him and Dungey won the title? That counted too.

Not just a small one either he cracked a vertebra in his back I'm sure? That injury ended Dungeys outdoor season in 2017...

Problem is, 2020 will bring another bike model and he will struggle with that one too, after saying how great it is.
